I just snagged one from Kamino Bricks as well. I can't justify paying hundreds for the 2013 version, and wasn't gonna pay $650 just to get this one..

no shot they don't put phase 2 rex in a normal set, if not next year, soon enough. I can see the head with the bandage staying exclusive to the UCS set, but there's no reason the rest can't be reused. Even the arm printing isn't out of the ordinary for modern lego sw figures (mando, both recent bobas, fennec, ahsoka, etc)
I agree arm prints are finally becoming more common, but if anything is going to stay exclusive to the UCS rex it is the arm printing. The head would be too easy for them to reuse for mass production, unless they want to give Rex a different facial expression.
After just watching the new Ahsoka episode the ammo pouch on the lego rex matches the size of the live action rex perfectly which is making me love the figure that much more

This isn't just the first 2020 style clone to come with arm printing, this is THE first clone to have two printed arms EVER. Lego has only ever made one other clone with arm printing and that was Echo from the Bad Batch shuttle, but he only had one arm printed.
It’s a perfect iteration of the character. And we need him to come in a Y-Wing next year to get him out of the paywall. I wouldn’t even mind if they took away the arm printing for the cheaper set. Leave an exclusive variant in the UCS set to please everyone.

If it comes in a affordable set it would have printing and the same face LEGO wont downgrade a minifig also armprinting is more common nowadays, it would be a cheap move from lego to downgrade the lego figure. Look at the Boba Mech, it's better than the UCS version and has armprinting despite being a 16 $ set.

Yeah I did a the same thing as well as paid off a bit of my student loans due to inflation hike ups. Hopefully it will be on shelves for the next 2-3 years.

Using 2023 arm prints on 2013 torso makes it look better
Actually first 2020 clone with arm printing is echo! Well he only has 1 printed arm
I think it’s fair that Admiral yularn will be exclusive to this set only for at least 3-4 years and we get Rex in a set but not a season finale with handbange and a little different arm print/without arm print in a 140+ set
Img oing to list all the reasons i like my GCC rex over the official one
1. No helmet holes, i dont mind the hiles but they look better without, i drilled one into the correct spot to put a rangefinder.
2. No waist cape print, obvious
3. The welds are the correct color
4. No oversized ammo pouch
You can use the flood light to fill in the second helmet hole they get a waist cape for him
Stupid thing about the waist cape is that the reason Lego removed them was to make them be able to sit down while playing but the thing is in a style of Lego designed specifically for kids to play (dreamz) they have waist capes and for a $650 that kids won’t be able to afford or play with because there is no where to put the to sit in the venator
i made my own! it's much cheaper and it's more maneuverable than lego's official ones :)) (reason: softer and thinner cloth)
Personally I've always felt the reason why they don't give rex a waist cape is because Lego want to have consistency with how the clones look and it's a stylistic choice they want to keep.
They can sit down with a waist cape. I have the original phase 2 Rex and it can sit no problem with one

The rangefinder adds a world of difference

The new ahsoka episode makes the giant pauldron accurate, as the couple seconds he was shown it was pretty large just like this figure

People keep dissing this minifigure, but it’s so much better than the 2013 one. $650 is an amount I don’t have right now though. Remember, we asked for exclusive figures like when the gunship happened.

where did u get ur pauldron?
You shouldn't have to buy a cloth kama from a 3rd party seller in order to have the minifigure look accurate. A minifigure included in a $650 UCS set should be as accurate as possible. That's like if a Darth Vader minifigure didn't come with a cape.

I admit he has two upgrades, the print on his arms (even tho I personally dont think it's an upgrade cause all of the other clones dont/wont have this feature so it'll make rex stands out too much but anyway)
and maybe his prints are overall better but that's kinda the bare minimum compared to a minifig released 10 years before this one lmao.
2013 rex isnt perfect we know that, we're just saying he has less flaws than the new one, yall are saying we're blinded by nostalgia but no, these flaws are valid point based on objectivity, for me yall are biased cause yall definitly cant afford the old one and never had the opportunity to get it so yall are trying to convince yourself that "its not that bad"

A venator with less then 5500 pieces for 650 dollars with a rex with 2 slithers printed on that want to be a wastecape.
