It is said that when someone passes away they might turn into a strigoi, a monster from the romanian folklore who stops cows from giving milk and other bad stuff (I can’t remember right now). You can tell if a dead person turned into a strigoi if some kind of horse doesn’t want to jump over the person’s grave. You can also stop a dead person from becoming a strigoi by piercing a nail trough their heart
It really was until the finale and a little bit before that. They basically went scorched earth on fan faves. A lot of great shows do that, though. I don't know why.
I love these recaps. I didn't realise till my grandfather got Alzheimer's but different care home have different levels of care. Most places can't deal with Alzheimer's patients. Once they start wandering it's a quick path to incontinence and unpredictable behavior, even aggressive/violent out bursts... And organ failure. The wandering is a very common sign for the need for medical care assistance homes.
Sorry to hear about your grandfather. I worked in a dementia home and yes, once the symptoms become worse they need to be moved to a specialty hospital like where I worked. The whole place is locked down by keypads at every single door even the doors between units. There were three units, one being the more independent residents whose symptoms are not as bad, unit 3 being he most severe for those who have either become bedridden or who are hard to control. They need specialised care. Unfortunately the residents don't always get the best of care and family members don't see that, especially if the resident can't communicate what is happening to them or if they can, people dismiss their claims as being paranoid dementia symptoms. That's one reason I left, I couldn't change things and all I did was put a target on my own back by trying to get better treatment 😔 look out for your loved ones

I was first introduced to this story through the TV series when it first premiered and I've consumed all forms of media regarding it since then. I watched the show, read all the books and the graphic novels. One of my teachers in high school was into it too and let me borrow his flash drive that had all the graphic novels on it. I love this take on vampires so much, it's so awesome and unique. I'm glad they wrote a conclusive end to it too so it doesn't get milked to death and back.

I mean.. as long as the weather is fine, some modern autopilots can indeed do this. Taking off however isn't allowed (yet - first tests are currently done with that as well), and as soon as the weather turns bad or flight control asks for manual changes the autopilot would be out as well, obviously.

Season one was wonderful, but I really hated the way it diverged from the books, Del Toro wrote such a rich story and background, but they just kind of, ran in the opposite direction. I still watched the whole thing and rewatch it every couple of years.
Gotta admit, great show, loved watching it, was "hooked" quickly. But also gotta point out the weird plot flaws, I believe authorities would've been more quick to catch on or enact responses despite this being shown as hard to contain aspect and despite it giving a headstart. The "internet getting hacked out of commission" and some other convenient parts is a bit weird when you consider a high-tech connected society on a global scale. Makes you wonder if it was "that easy" in the end, why it wasn't done in medieval or prior times where mankind had less of a chance to fight back.

This show was one of Guillermo Del Toro’s best works, it genuinely has one of the coolest concepts for “vampires”

The strigoi is one of the inspirations for the modern vampire. Bram Stoker's Dracula was actually his interpretation of a strigoi.
