Let's see..... to be continued. Edit: oh crap, it had fallen off in the only room she goes to. Wh9 would have known. Great recap as always. Like I say, this channel has the best quality recaps. 👌
So, nobody thought about evacuation before the disaster? the world and the local government have ignored survivors for 5 years and not sent any rescue vessels? How did a typhoon create a 50m high tsunami in the first place and why has the water not receded in 5 years? The scavanger have not used the boat to find a safe place and are instead embracing anarchy as their new lifestyle? Also, they must have developed super senses if they can hear a walkman from their boat among all the boat engine and water noise, but at the same time they must have suffered some brain damage putting the 8yo kid in charge of the firearm. However, the most absurd plot point is that they still have electricity. In almost any type of disaster it's like the first thing to go out. At this point the power company might as well charge them for utilities again. In all the absurdity, the movie could have been way more plausible if the timeframe was 5 months, not 5 years.
I think the point is that it's a global catastrophe, and the radio messages about a safe place are just a trap to lure people in. If the government never came to rescue them, and radio messages about "safety" are being sent out even years later, there's clearly something major wrong. The scavengers themselves are even signs that society has collapsed, because people with boats would have been the first people able to try to seek out safe harbor. The fact that there are scavengers means there is no safe harbor to be found. Still having power was definitely dumb though.
This is actually a real solid movie. Her killing the scavengers requires some suspension of disbelief but it’s hardly the most egregious example I’ve seen of 100lb women beating up 200lb men lol
This movie is enoyable because it takes a simple concept thats been done before and twists it just a little for Asian market that can still be watched by a Western one. Its a done thing of a post-apocalyptic survival action/thriller with slowly revealing flashbacks paralleling the reality of the future, that culminate in the reveal the audience already knows and allows the protagonist to have the resolve to move on from the past. But all that with the Asian socio-cultural idea of family and filial piety that adds to the flashbacks that Asha wanted to leave her stifling family that took her for granted over her beloved younger sister, whom she failed at the crucial moment. It also has almost an entirely Asian cast and the one Western guy we see tries to rape her which is pretty common trope in Western films even in all western casts. But you can see that the meaning of survival for the other scavengers is a lot more brutal and bloody for them than it is for her which is also a done trope in western survival films. Overall, its a common known movie plot but with an Asian flavour
Right, so she has secret stash of clean water on the roof, which is supposed to be carefully hidden, but also makes tea and drinks it right there on that roof in clear view from all surrounding buildings...
What happened to the mountains that Hong Kong is built around? Several of them are much higher than the city's skyscrapers. There should be a bunch of now just smaller islands, not just the tops of buildings sticking out of the water.

After a tsunami, the water drains away. It doesn't just sit there for 5 years. It can take a few hours to several weeks for the water to drain away, depending on the weather, the lay of the land, how wet the ground was before flooding, etc.
I ended 2023 watching this. And I started 2024 finishing this.
I haven't finished, but if she lost her necklace, there's only a few places it could be. I mean you live in a room and go to the roof. I'm willing to bet it's in one of those places. Let's see..... to be continued.
Edit: oh crap, it had fallen off in the only room she goes to. Wh9 would have known.
Great recap as always. Like I say, this channel has the best quality recaps. 👌
She thought the little girl took it. Not that it was lost. The little girl found it and returned it to her.
0:51 wow music radio still available
😂😂😂😂
What a violent twist!
Agree unless the governments did it
And gave stuff as garbage and stuff
I think the point is that it's a global catastrophe, and the radio messages about a safe place are just a trap to lure people in. If the government never came to rescue them, and radio messages about "safety" are being sent out even years later, there's clearly something major wrong. The scavengers themselves are even signs that society has collapsed, because people with boats would have been the first people able to try to seek out safe harbor. The fact that there are scavengers means there is no safe harbor to be found. Still having power was definitely dumb though.
Hei Hei Mai Mai, rocknroll will never die
Now I’m tempted to watch. I’m curious about that sea creature 🤔
This is actually a real solid movie. Her killing the scavengers requires some suspension of disbelief but it’s hardly the most egregious example I’ve seen of 100lb women beating up 200lb men lol
It's almost a take on the movie Waterworld. Which was an amazing movie.
Love is only your strength..
That escalates pretty quickly in the end.
How can a little girl survive the flood began 5 year ago😂😂😂
Little girl while leaving hears Na na na na , na na na na , Hei Hei Hei , goodbye.
Damn, that mattress cover was amazing.
really good and realistic surviving movie
She fuckin soloed the scavengers ☠️
Good thing she hangs out on the roof all the time. It's a good way to never be seen by anyone. Because she's actually a ghost stuck in a time loop.
watched it! really good film, highly recommended 👌
Movie title pls?
So cool to see Taylor R's friend in this!! I had no idea, just a random find.
If oceans rise by 54m I'll have a water front property
It'll be more than just the front
So what's the sea creature? What about the other survivors?
Right, so she has secret stash of clean water on the roof, which is supposed to be carefully hidden, but also makes tea and drinks it right there on that roof in clear view from all surrounding buildings...
*watching the news about the complete destruction of Singapore*
"Turn that off, we've got to talk about why you aren't married"
What happened to the mountains that Hong Kong is built around? Several of them are much higher than the city's skyscrapers. There should be a bunch of now just smaller islands, not just the tops of buildings sticking out of the water.
I'm sad you gave him away 😢
Why was there a random sea monster? What stopped rescue operations for multiple years?
