    I’m so sorry for your loss. I could see how heartbroken you were I just wanted to give ya a big hug. It’s never easy losing a pet no matter what kind it is. Yolko OhNo sends you lots of chicken nuzzles.

      Thank you so much for you kindness, and the hug! It is heartbreaking and there is some guilt that I didnt do something right. I do have to remind myself that I do the best I can and that is all I can do. Lessons are learned and we move on and hopefully not make the same mistakes. If I share anything that helps others to not make my mistakes, it is all worth it.

    Good to see you! Sorry about the chickens that passed. I have chickens in California, do I need to worry about the bird flu here too?

      Hi Karen! I looked up your states agriculture site linked below, to get you started on your research for your area. This is where you should find the information that pertains to your state. I also follow my states agriculture page on Facebook.

    Hi Rebecca, sorry that you lost your cookies, they are with Rosie. The best way to get rid of your rats is to mix cotten wool balls with peanut butter. Pull the cotten wool apart and mix with peanut butter and put around where the rats are. They will eat the wool and peanut butter then choke on the wool and die. Or you can have a couple of Aussie snakes like I have and never have a problem with rats or mice 😊. We have floods and now it has stopped raining so the water has subsided. We are ok where we live but a lot of people have lost there homes. Anyway it is great to see a new video, sorry things have not been good for you, sending you hugs and prayers, keep safe luv Kas 💙🇦🇺💜

      Oh no! I am so glad you are okay! It is so horrible when people are displaced. :( I will try your suggestion! I figure that if I keep rotating systems the rats wont catch on! I am so glad that Rosie was there to meet them 😍 Love right back at you!

    I hope all your birds stay healthy. I’m really curious how do you have your incubators set up pacifically when they’re hatching.

    • @birchmoonfarm101
      @birchmoonfarm101  2 года назад

      Hi! Thank you, I hope yours stay healthy too! I just leave them in the incubator until they are ready for the brooder. Is that what you meant? I think others may have separate incubators for incubating and hatching, but I havent done that. I dont do the standard hatching method, so dont technically have a lockdown phase, but you do have me thinking. I would be easier to keep the incubator one cleaner by moving the hatching to another incubator.....hhmmmm. Do you move your eggs to another incubator?

    • @fluffysilkies
      @fluffysilkies 2 года назад

      @@birchmoonfarm101 when I put my eggs in lockdown they stay inside the incubator they’ve always been in but when the chick hatches I move it to a different part of the incubator (until it’s ready to go in the brooder.) So it doesn’t bother the other eggs but the other eggs can still hear it. I’ve tried to keep all my eggs together when they start hatch/hatched but my hatch rate goes down. What do you recommend?

    • @birchmoonfarm101
      @birchmoonfarm101  2 года назад

      Honestly, I think your method is brilliant! I would keep with the method that gives you the higher hatch rate, and as long as your chicks arent having any issues by the move, this is a great solution to eggs being kicked around by the hatchlings.

      @@birchmoonfarm101 Honestly, I thought it was little crazy. Because I’ve never seen anybody do this way before. It’s nice to know, I’m not crazy or am I endangering chicks.

    • @birchmoonfarm101
      @birchmoonfarm101  2 года назад

      Not crazy at all! Whatever works for you. Talk about crazy, I hatch my silkies without turning and no lockdown. I set for 5 days 1 group of 8 then when chicks are moved to the brooder, replace them with more eggs. Some people think this process is nuts but it does work and the woman who figured it out has done it for 14 years. I have 50 silkie eggs in 1 NR360 at the moment, an my other one will be free later this week of my goose eggs hatch. LOLOL
