Hey, this worked for me! Also, I didn't have to port forward through my modem, not sure if that's cause I use PFsense, but my modem doesn't even have an option to port forward lol.
Note to self: You need to make the steam update and server start.bat separate for oxide to work. Updating each time you start the server seems to override the oxide files.
but how do you update when its time to. i spend the last 3 hours trying to get this server to lad but it keeps telling me that it needs an update event though i have went through the update process 9 times that i had to find on another video

What I'm trying to do is set decay variables once and for all and be applied every time I startup my server, but it keeps resetting after server restarts, and also tried the mod (NoDecay) The variables I'm trying to set: server.decayscale 0 server.decay.upkeep false

That error is only an issue if you plan to use the Rust+ companion phone app for your server. If that's the case, I would recommend going though the in-depth part of the guide where I cover how to port forward and setup the rust+ app settings. Otherwise, just ignore that error as I won't hinder anything else.

So I am renting a server and once items hit the ground they despawn quick. Do you know how I can change this setting. I use to be able to log off and come back after a few hours to tons of horse dung but now once it hits the ground it's gone within seconds. It doesn't look like you can pick a specific version. I believe you can only host servers from branches, such as the staging, pre-release, and main branch. It could be possible to find a server file online of a specific version but you would also need your game version to match which would be difficult.
@@JfarrYT Well, there is a discord which has old game files (The version after night goggles came to the game) and it has old recoil. The version runs perfectly and there are couple of servers there. I have the game files but I just don't know how to get a server file online for that version.

Hey Alexander, what kind of hardware do you have? This would drastically impact the stutters you experience. In my experience if you have only 8GB of RAM, it could be the cause of stuttering.
@@alexanderreyes2736 Not sure if you have tried this already, but you could first attempt to increase your garbage collection buffer. You can do this by pressing f1 and typing gc.buffer, followed by a value. By default it will be set to 256 MB. Try with gc.buffer 2048 and see if that helps.

No, also rust saves the game every 10 min. Just make sure to log off in the game, and then on the console, if you want, type 'save', let it save, and then just close and that's it
So I have been getting a issue where it says can't establish connection with tcp XXX.XXX.X.XX:28083 but my server is set to 28015. I have double and tripple checked both my router and servers ports. Ive been able to port forward my other servers on other ports just fine. I just keep having this issue with rust. Any suggestions?

This Is an Issue with your PC, If your game freezes shows a blue loading screen and pops up "rust Is not responding" that Is due to your PC lacking proper requirements for rust.
It really depends on your needs. A dedicated server is more suitable if you want to host a lot of players, keep the server online all the time, and avoid performance issues. You can either set up your own server box or rent one from a hosting service. However, if you only want to host for a few players, you can run the server on your PC. Just keep in mind that the server will stop when you turn off your PC and it might lag if you do other things on your PC.
for me it shows public ip, private ip, public and private port. i put the IPv4 for the private ip, i put public ip for public ip and idk what to put in public and private port.

i can't go in becouse the leak of RAM, i have 16gb of ram. The server uses around 1-7gb and i have 16gb wich crashes when i open the game. I been testing out and using a one grid map but still crashing. Also i don't know why by searching they say with 6gb of ram is enough. I have an i5-13600kf processor wich is more than enough. Don't know what to say.
This Is an Issue with rust and has been brought up to developers many times about terrible optimization. Well you could run a server and play rust with 8 GB's of ram It's highly frowned upon as the quality of gameplay would lack greatly. With 16 GB's of ram you should be good though!
I dont get the "rustserver" folder when i run the rust_server_complete_installer.bat file. I downloaded it via google drive, maybe its got something to do with that.
Same here. I'm getting the steamCMD folder but no rustserver folder. I run the .bat file and it opens a command prompt for a few seconds but it closes too quick for me to see what's on it.

If you're port forwarding you can just do localhost:PORT, but In your case you have to change your servers port to your port you setup.

You can either set up your own server box or rent one from a hosting service. However, if you only want to host for a few players, you can run the server on your PC. Just keep in mind that the server will stop when you turn off your PC and it might lag if you do other things on your PC.
for me it shows public ip, private ip, public and private port.
i put the IPv4 for the private ip, i put public ip for public ip and idk what to put in public and private port.
it always kicks for for "failed steam authorisation"

how do i stop random people joining my server? i don't want my server to be public
i can't go in becouse the leak of RAM, i have 16gb of ram. The server uses around 1-7gb and i have 16gb wich crashes when i open the game. I been testing out and using a one grid map but still crashing. Also i don't know why by searching they say with 6gb of ram is enough. I have an i5-13600kf processor wich is more than enough. Don't know what to say.
This Is an Issue with rust and has been brought up to developers many times about terrible optimization. Well you could run a server and play rust with 8 GB's of ram It's highly frowned upon as the quality of gameplay would lack greatly. With 16 GB's of ram you should be good though!
Everytime i try to join it just says connecting and then disconects me
I dont get the "rustserver" folder when i run the rust_server_complete_installer.bat file. I downloaded it via google drive, maybe its got something to do with that.
Same here. I'm getting the steamCMD folder but no rustserver folder. I run the .bat file and it opens a command prompt for a few seconds but it closes too quick for me to see what's on it.
The quick setup did not generate a file for me.
cant add admins to my server, done as every page has said, ownerid then 64 id, editing the users.cfg and it cant recognize me as and admin
