Cosmo is a regular character in the comic books, but they decided not to include him in this movie because you can't have a CGI raccoon and a real dog in the same scene. Remember Laika the Russian dog who was sent to space and everyone was sad because Laika died? Cosmo is the Marvel version of Laika, only Cosmo survived because he was rescued by an alien scientist who gave him enhanced intelligence and telepathy. In the comic books, Cosmo and Rocket *hate* each other, which is why Cosmo growled at Rocket in that brief scene. Cosmo is technically the second Russian hero in the MCU, even though he only got a cameo. Groot is the last of his species. The rest of his species were really, really horrible. Groot was the one nice one. The Collector is one of the oldest beings in the universe. You will meet his brother in the third Thor movie. After hearing the news my brother and I drove to the airport soon as we could, the first song we heard on the radio was She Talks to angels by the Black Crows, a song that will always bring me back to that moment. We flew from Albuquerque to Houston, where mom was being treated, and tried to steel ourselves. We arrived at the bed of our mother, a loving and caring woman, a therapist who wend into debt for not forcing patients to pay, and now she is a vegetable.
