@4:56, fun fact in the late 1990s/early 2000s there was a sci-fi show called Farscape. It was about an astronaut from Earth named John Creighton who gets thrown through a wormhole to another place in the universe. Once there he embarks on adventures that are both epic and hilarious with a crew of alien misfits. GOTG director James Gunn freely admits the personalities of the Guardians in the MCU movie were inspired by the characters and plots from Farscape. In many ways Peter Quill dresses very similarly to Creighton. The Sovereign officer speaking to the High Priestess in this scene is played by actor Ben Browder. Browder played John Creighton on Farscape. I thought it was a nice touch to invite him into this movie.
@@JW666 Yes it was. Adventure, comedy, drama and several romances. This is my favorite Marvel movie because of the creative concept of killing of your ego to have a healthier family. I really enjoyed your reactions such an emotional and beautiful young woman.
My Dad passed away suddenly in his sleep in 2007, he was 58. When I saw this movie and I could tell Yondu was going to sacrifice himself, I tried not to cry. Didn`t work out. :)
One thing I always liked is how Peter says Yondu kept him bc he was small and able to squeeze into tight spots - and that's kinda how they act with Groot in this film.. though of course, like Yondu, they really love him. Also, the movie starts with them stealing batteries.. and Ego basically tries to "steal" quill to use as a battery. love your reactions!
Nobody, and i mean nobody expected to cry during the last 20 minute of theis movie, we all thought it was gonna be fun with a few heartfelt scenes (and yeah, those scenes are there), but Yondu;'s fate........whew, I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it. Rest in power, Yondu Udonta, and may you find your place among the stars old friend.
It took me 16 years to meet my father and realize he wasn’t as toxic as the stories I was told, he just made decisions he regretted later when he became wiser. It’s a coin flip for us all.
The original Guardians of the Galaxy comic book came out in 1969. I read the first issue as an elementary school kid in the 1970s. The story took place in a dystopian possible future (over 1000 years) of the Marvel universe in which the Earth was conquered and enslaved. Marvel rebooted the series in the early 1990s with a slightly different roster. I wound up reading these adventures in college. Yondu, Sylvester Stallone’s character Stakar and his comrades are actually a mishmash of the characters from the 1969 and 1990s teams. Quill, Rocket, Groot and the others in the MCU movies are the 2008 roster of the Guardians. Hopefully in the third movie OG characters will be shown again. The character Stakar himself has an incredibly epic origin story that I would love to see portrayed on the big screen. Take it from “One who knows” 😉
I was a bit butthurt that when they decided to make a Guardians movie that it wasn't going to be the old team. They were my favorite comic back in the day. I like the new team tho, so I'm ok now.
Yeah, it's funny that a lot of the comic book plots are 40+ years old, and pretty well everything is rewritten anyway. I wonder how many people become disappointed that the movies only have a passing resemblance to the literature. I though Civil War and Batman vs Superman weren't a patch on the comic plots, which were far deeper and made more sense than the movies.
It's hard to tell with Rocket since he thinks he's smarter than everybody. That said, Rocket wasn't the tech genius who solved the problem in Endgame. The only person generally accepted to be smarter than Tony is Shuri, though I'm sure when Reed shows up the game will change.

In his cosmic power point presentation, when Ego shows himself taking the seed out of his neck & planting it in the planet, it makes me think of an issue of Marvel's comicbook series Quasar from the 90's (I think) where Ayesha (who was going by the name "Her" at the time) was looking for mates to have the "perfect" offspring with. She would find superhuman "mates" like Hercules & Wonder Man, kiss them, & then stick a bud on the backs of their necks. Also, I love Dasha's reaction to finding out Ego killed Peter's mom. What's especially funny about Taserface is that, if it had any meaning or relevance, it actually would be a cool name. But since it bears absolutely no relevance to him, it just sounds stupid. XD
