Another fantastic episode! That haunted house mission was great television. My Mole suspicions below:

    .
I've been in a Nabil tunnel from the very beginning, but honestly I'd rather be wrong because I don't think he's a great Mole if he is actually it. This episode made me think of Anke as a possible Mole for the first time. She earned the trust of everyone through the first several episodes so much that they put her in charge of everything - distributing the cases, being the treasurer, etc. And now all of a sudden, they are losing money. Hmm. If she was the Mole, it would make sense to give herself a low value suitcase so she could play in the church game and choose an envelope. And of course she chose the envelope without money. She also made a comment in the confessional that they were doing so well but now they're losing money. I could see that clip being in the Mole montage at the finale where she could add on - too bad for them, but great for me as Mole!

Look very closely at 17:56 . They wrote down "geel s, witte broek" what means "yellow shirt, white trousers".
And then look at 20:46 who is wearing that? Nobody at all. Only one guy wears it: Jurre.

Yes, and why did he try to persuade Anke to go for a joker? That is just plain stupid to do as a contestant. He was my top suspect before and the only reason why I think it might not be him is the fact that this episode he was very suspicious (which usually makes you think the production wants to make you think someone is the mol)

Thanks again Marieke for your hard work in getting this series (and all others!) uploaded. I've loved this season more than any other so far! You can tell this season has been inspired by the show's Belgian roots.
    .
    .
    .
    Thoughts:
    1) The first assignment was great fun! It seemed like the candidates made it more difficult than it needed to be. Daniel and Ranomi should have described what Jurre and Anke needed to look for instead of relying on them for random information. In terms of sabotage:
    - Ranomi: Made some strange errors when immediately seating churchgoers who entered through the door, but this only happened a couple of times and seemed to go totally unnoticed.
    - Anke: Had some trouble with the radio at one point, but it seemed like she was genuinely oblivious to the issue.
    - Jurre: Very quick to dismiss the churchgoers he spoke to and he contributed very little to ensuring Daniel and Ranomi knew what to do.
    - Daniel: Gave little/no help to Jurre and Anke. I disagreed with what he said after the assignment was over. He seemed to make out that he had described what he and Ranomi were looking for from the board, but that was a clear lie. He barely did that at all. Anke had to ask an enormous number of questions to get the right information to both of them. Maybe he was trying to save face, as I don't believe he is the mole.
    2) An amazing assignment! The production team did an awesome job here! Anke seemed to act in a way that threw the others in her team deliberately, but her efforts to get the assignment done without telling her teammates suggest, to me, that she is not the Mole. Not many other thoughts on this one honestly. Hard to know who to blame for Ranomi's incorrect word.
My most to least suspicious right now: Jurre, Ranomi, Daniel, Anke, Nabil, Soy.
I am sure that neither Nabil and Soy is the mole, and I would bet my house that Soy was the candidate who saw a red screen in the previous episode. I'm almost certain that the mole is either Jurre or Ranomi with a small possibility of being Daniel. For me, Jurre is a clear front runner as The Mole, but it's still too early to tell.

Thanks for the episode. Few things to think about for me:
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
This it the first time I've been so sus on someone this early. Jurre just does not vibe well for me at all. Gives me feelings very similar to Jan (2018's Mole), who I was right with guessing on. He's also not getting the "obvious patsy" edit that occurs sometimes. Looking back, the first thing I noticed was Jurre getting caught out on the singing. If he's as good as was mentioned, he should have been fine. The only way I can see it is if he messed up through, say, accent. It'd be like me being told to sing with an American accent (I can't, my voice is too chest based). He's also the one who immediately opened the question mark envelope last week. Being the one writing the morse code in this episode is another thing, and the easiest point to get away with a sabotage. Neither Daniel nor Ranomi seemed to know what the code was, so just trusted him, even though they had a spare, and could have checked.
Also, just by his general demeanour through the series, I'd have reverse psyched him out. Man's been the one looking out for himself as much as possible. I'd put a small amount in the joker envelope, and say "Choose whatever. Doesn't matter to me." Same with Anke, as the lack of trust had been brought up. Put most of it on the more trusting (Daniel and Ranomi) and hope they both get through to play the round in the first place.
I highly doubt Nabil or Soy are the mole. The way Soy looked after Annick was eliminated made me think he was the one with the red screen, it just looked like pure guilt. My order of Mole thinking is Jurre, Anke, Daniel, Ramoni, Nabil, Soy.

This second assignment!!! What was that!? It was an escape room/ treasure hunt with spooky vibes. Kudos to the widm production! Kinda weird Jurre and Daniel messed up exactly on Ranomi's word, Nabil had put a lot of money on her. Mole action from them?
First task was fun, and kinda comical. Sad they messed up so bad, which was an easy one. Jurre said it right: people inside the church should had coordinated the task, because they got many useless information.
My list from most suspicious to least: Jurre, Nabil, Ranomi, Anke.
Soy and Daniel are not the mole.
What a twist at the end! This Belgium inspired season has been a great surprise so far!!

Yes, seems like they are borrowing an idea from the Belgian ‘De Mol’ again, make the test before a mission. It won’t play out exact the same way, because here they only get 15 questions. In Belgium they made the test with all the questions before the roadtrip, but some of the questions were about things that still had to happen in the future during the roadtrip. But I’m already excited to see the next episode.
I hope they keep borrowing ideas, the missions this year are surprisingly well layered.

  • @Captain_Subpar
    @Captain_Subpar Год назад +7

I have a question that's more related to the concept of "The Mole" in general than this specific episode, so I was wondering what people thought.
Are Jokers really that valuable? Every round, you answer twenty questions about the identity of The Mole. How often does a Joker being played actually change the results of who goes home? I would love to have hard data on that because I don't think it's too often. What are the chances that you getting ONE more question right either pushes you from last place to second to last or at least ties you with someone else, and then you win on time? Is someone else EXACTLY as far off from figuring out who The Mole is as you are?
I get that there's intangible, intrinsic value to getting a Joker in so much that it could help convince others that you're The Mole when you're not, but really, after this many seasons, going for a Joker shouldn't make you any more or less suspicious. I just can't fathom how a singular Joker could be worth thousands of Euros when the chances of it making a difference in your standing in the game are slim to not.
Not to mention that even if playing a Joker did help you not get eliminated, you wouldn't know that you were so close to going and chances are that you'll just go the following week, none the wiser.
Am I off based? I didn't crunch the numbers specifically, but man, the only I'd give up thousands of Euros is for an exemption. THAT has much more intrinsic value.

    • @H0lyMoley
      @H0lyMoley Год назад +6

I feel like a joker in this game would be worth more because a lot of people tend to "spread". If you have a bunch of people with four or five questions correct, putting yourself one question ahead might make all the difference. If you're going for one person and you're wrong of course, that spells doom. (Look at Annike last episode.) But if you go for one person and you're right, you basically have a free pass to the finale.
Even if you're on one person, you might have got lucky and got three questions right while everyone else had four, and so a joker again could put you into a tie situation and you could make it through. Then, if things change later on for you or your suspect gets eliminated instead, you might have an extra chance to get it right.
There has been one specific season where someone was mentioned to have been saved by a joker on an early elimination, and then went on to win. There was also a case where someone's joker turned out to be invalid because it had been opened by another candidate (a massively controversial moment there by the way) and that person got eliminated.

    • @WIDMEnglishSubs
      @WIDMEnglishSubs  Год назад +5

The suitcase game was played in Belgium where the people could use the money in the suitcases to buy jokers after making the test. After several people bought 1 or 2 jokers, the end result was changed and someone else had to go home. So in that case, those jokers made a huge difference.
And as far as not being any wiser, we more often see people being completely wrong and seeing their mole go home and even if they were on them, they are still in the game. Not going home, albeit through jokers or not, will never prove anything and you are never wiser, even though some people will say they got confirmation or whatever.

Yaaaaay, thanks Marieke! What a fun season so far. Every time I think I have a mole solidified and a tunnel chosen, the next episode comes out and I feel completely rattled again. Spoilers below!
There's an immediate, knee-jerk reaction to write off Nabil and Soy after determining what role they play in this episode. 1) Taking a high euro suitcase prevented the possibility of it leaving the pot last week. 2) You don't get to participate in the churchgoers challenge. 3) You don't get to take money out of the pot in the haunted hotel challenge. All these things I agree with. However, I'll put it out there: there's a lot of interesting dynamics that could have happened in the last challenge that didn't end up happening...and it could have made this game a lot easier to win. If Nabil or Soy are the mole, I don't know what more they could have done to sabotage this challenge.
Rik didn't say the money had to be distributed evenly between the 4 envelopes. They decide to do that. It would have made a lot more sense to bet a majority of the money on the most trustworthy contestants. If they really wanted to earn the money in this challenge they could have been upfront with Daniel and Ranomi that they had a boat load of money betted on them, and then give no info to Jurre and Anke and just 50/50 the jokers. The other weird thing (to me at least) is that they are honest with every envelope (assuming Nabil told Ranomi the truth, which I think he would). Why do they trust the others that much? Soy I guess really overestimates his trust in the group. Nabil is the one to recommend a reverse psychology strategy and Soy just decides to eff it. It sits weird with me, ESPECIALLY when both Anke and Jurre were eying him so hard at last week's elimination challenge.
I don't immediately assume Soy and Nabil are not the mole because they didn't participate in the first challenge (Anke was in charge of dividing the cases last week so it's not like either of them had a real say in the matter), but their honesty with the envelopes and lack of real game play makes me think they might both just be candidates. I was getting ready to narrow it down to Nabil after last week, but now I'm really second guessing things. Soy to me is not the mole. I still think he got the red screen last week.
I don't love that there was an entire challenge that 2 of the 6 remaining contestants weren't a part of, but I did really enjoy the first challenge. I like challenges that can be moled on both sides. I gotta be honest, most everyone seemed hella suspicious (even the churchgoers--did Christie change his name???). Why Daniel wasn't more straightforward with the information Anke and Jurre needed to collect I don't know. Why Jurre seemed to give up after asking like 2 useless questions to some people who can say. Anke seemed pretty decent in this challenge; she looked the least suspicious in the bunch to me. And dear, sweet Ranomi, I wish you'd get more screen time girl. She was pretty smart in figuring out the late churchgoer, but got a ton of people wrong. She doesn't get a pass this assignment. None of them do...except for maybe Anke.
And speaking of Anke, her awkwardness with the 'almost deaf' lady...I had such bad secondhand embarrassment from that I had to pause the episode. And one of the churchgoers' names was...Person Y? This show is unintentionally hilarious sometimes XD
Things of note I'll take away from this challenge. 1) Portophone malfunctions again. Anke, Jurre, and Daniel were the ones with the portophones. It doesn't seem to truly interfere with the challenge (it could really have just been an accident if all 3 were talking at the same time), but something to think about. 2) Nabil and Soy are given wrong information about this challenge. If both get by the next elimination over the other 4 who know the truth of this challenge, there's some real shenanigans afoot, or one of the two is the mole. I'll be shocked if Soy makes it another week. No jokers and bad information. Although if he got the red screen last week he could have more of an advantage than I'm giving him credit for.
And haunted hotel challenge, let's gooooooo! Although the sad part about this one was that it really felt like a filler challenge. I mean there wasn't even a timer! It wasn't guaranteed to be successful (see: Ranomi), but there wasn't much the mole had to do in this challenge. This is just one I guess where the mole can do as well as they want to look good and not have any real consequences. I guess the only real question is this: did Ranomi get sabotaged, or was it just contestant incompetence? It seems weird they would get her wrong when they got 5 other contestants right. Taking Ranomi out of the game would be a good sabotage (again, she seems pretty pro-pot; I have a feeling they would have earned another $2500 if she got to participate). It would be some pretty awesome self-sabotage if she somehow took herself out of the game if she were the mole. I don't know how she would have done the sabotaging, though, cause she doesn't do a darn thing this challenge.
And there's some editing shenanigans that may not have anything to do with the outcome of the challenge, but I thought it was interesting. You can tell based on Jurre's writing when they're deciphering the morse code that they go to the church to find Daniel's adjective BEFORE going to Ranomi's school. I don't know why they felt the need to swap this around but I don't trust it when they edit things out of order.
Also I think it's some BS that we had back-to-back episodes where money could leave the pot. How fair is that?? At least this week they had a chance to earn money instead of just lose some or none. But jeepers creepers, spending $4500 on 2 jokers is some hot garbage. WTF. I'm going to be mad about that for a while. Especially Jurre, who was just so obnoxious about it.
Is there some weird editing shenanigans going on again? There's a candle that's blown out around 49:15 but it only starts releasing smoke around 49:22. I feel crazy.
Soy being a little b about the joker too about drove me to insanity. You didn't do anything helpful this challenge. At all. And you want a reward? And he says he shouldn't play the game fair. I mean what are you going to do? Steal Nabil's joker? GTFO.
Next week is bound to be very very interesting. No real information about what's going to happen in the promo. I'm scared.

I agree with most of this, except the comment about Soy. There have been jokers stolen before in this show. It's always very fun. Because yeah, it's not fair, but it makes so much more sense for a candidate to steal a joker than to spend 2500 euros on a joker, you feel me?

So we have a non-elimination leg! And a fun episode. I'm kinda tempted to write off Soy and Nabil completely. It really feels as if the Mole was in that church, sabotaging things. I think Jurre would have to be my top suspect at this point. By no means certain. (Also I'd like to give a nod to Mr / Ms Oranges here 'cause I was totally doubting them and now I feel as though they were probably correct from early on.)
