in 2007 March Good Friday we went to Montreal on the way back we stopped by mid way at Kingston Masjid to pray and take a break and forgot my son's winter jacket,
Next year when we planned to go to Mt. Tremblant we stopped again to take a break and pray, Guess what after 1 year the jacket was hanging there, I am sure thousands came and go and no one touch that jacket :D
I wish some how in Pakistan if we can promote honesty.
Trust me everything will be just reverse.

Pakistan is a huge country with 225 million people. Leaving a country is an individual's personal preference however there are so many people who are honest, successful and happy in Pakistan. Writing your country off is a mistake. Stay strong, keep faith and stay focussed. It pays off in the end and even if it doesn't you will be happy to live and die in your own land. Long live everyone. Stay safe.

    • @NRKGBP1986

We know there are honest people in Pakistan but unfortunately in minority, it's the majority which eventually rules brother.
      Ashir is 100% right.
My dad migrated to Norway in early 70s, me and all of my siblings were born in Norway, my dad took us back home thinking the same way as you said, own land own country etc. But in that very homeland when you can't find justice, peace, clean atmosphere, impurities in every single edible, lawlessness from traffic to every little field of your life, that very homeland feels a lot worse than an enemy's dungeon.
I hardly spent some years in Pakistan and moved back with my siblings and will never move back there again even if someone guarantees me millions. Like Ashir said, you can't put any price on cleanliness, pure water, pure edibles, honest and just system and last but not least, no class difference.
Unfortunately Pakistan is a place where people live their lives with a motive of show off and fake reputation. These two things are the central pivots of their day to day life.
People like Ashir aren't bashing Pakistan by stating these facts, if we are sensible enough, we can learn from it and become a good country too. If we couldn't fit in that dirty system, we aren't the ones to be blamed I think, you need to straighten the bent system. They say, "you're always recognised by your company", that's why straight people can't stay in Pakistan. Unfortunately they have to be in straight countries.

I lived in Canada for 15 years. Just a few comments:
    1. It is true that debt is no 1 enemy.
    2. Every place or country has its good and a bad side. How you perceive it really depends upon what you value in life the most or how you prioritize things in your life and your family's life.

    Please also consider:
    Fast Paced Life
    Loans are Life Time
    Uncertainty
    Broken Family System
    Islamophobia
    Health System
    Longer Winters
    Professional Jobs, especially Key positions
    2nd Class Citizens
    Double Income/Working Wives
You have to change your attitude (have to learn to compromise and adjust ..... and how much you can, is upto individual)
Retirement/old age is bit more scary, especially without investments in placed already.
Else everything is good like, everyone say water, air, views, lower paid jobs, 2nd hand cars, food,(except organic food which is again less affordable) etc.
    Best of luck!!

Absolutely correct. I have a 20 yr experience of Canadian life in multiple provinces. For a well groomed muslim, Canada is not a mentally free country. You have pockets in big cities, where if your earning is stable, you can enjoy your life. But majority immigrant will not have that comfort.
You will have to compromise on many of your islamic values to adopt a carefree modernistic islamic style to get well with the work ethics and communities. Its not that they will discriminate against you, its just that you will stand out more as most people do not have those mentalities.
Pakistani life is essentially care-free in the mind. If you have become content with your base life, then the freedom in the air of Pakistan cannot be achieved even in canada. You simply have to have a change of your mindset.

I cannot say about others, but I came to canada purely on my educational merits.
I worked 2-3 jobs while I studied and paid my university fees.
I stayed (like countless others) with 3-4 ppl in one bedroom apartments, living entirely without meat of ANY kind, barely eating rice and daal, with doubleroti. simply because there was no halal meat, we didnt know how to make roti, and there were no halal bakeries. We get something called PITA here which is slightly expensive than the doubleroti. So we would buy it less.
After 20 years I still do not have a house, as 99% of people who have houses here are on haram mortgages, or bogus "islamic financings".
We live just like many many others, month to month, hand to mouth. It is much easier to settle in Pakistan and get one's home in some old village as long as one can make their income sufficient.
I have tried to come settle in Pakistan, but it has been difficult for my family to adjust to life back there as they are local canadian. (another big issue immigrants should be aware of). But personally, those who have gathered sufficient skills here, can go back and settle nicely.
I will not stop anyone from trying to come to canada. Do try, but do so with the understanding that it is not a heaven. Just another ghanchakkar where you will have to grind the chakki to get the flour. If someone is willing, I make dua for them.

That being said, now living is much better food wise.
You have halal options, naans, rotis (thanks to a lot of Sikhs who like only vegetarian food). Edmonton even has quite a few ethnic pakistani stores, south indian stores etc.
So food wise the mahaul is much more acceptable now than 20 years ago.
As I mentioned the overheads will break your back. You have to get a job as soon as you come, otherwise you will not be able to cover your rent, electricity and groceries.
We do have places like Habitat for Humanity, and Salvation Army and Value Village which will sell you 2nd hand products. Good market. Sufficient to set up one's house.
