I recently bought this camera and there's something I found I don't like about it. I have it sitting on my mantle over the fireplace right at the edge, and when it detects our cats walking around it will often tilt down too far and the picture is blocked by its base. Even when it's only partially tilted down the picture washes out due to the reflection off the base, especially in night mode, so visibility is very poor . There needs to be a way to prevent it from tilting too far when it's tracking motion. This couldn't happen on the previous two versions and I actually find them more usable in this situation.
How is the USB cable connected to the power brick? if it plugs in with a standard USB connection then an extension USB could be put in to get greater length to locate the camera outdoors and have the brick in a dry location. I have been using the Arlo cameras for quite a while now but their support is useless. Lately my hardwired outdoor camera is missing events and my notifications are often coming to my cell phone 15 or 20 minutes after the event. Pretty worthless if someone is breaking in to my house! The online only support suggestions include such helpful things as making sure the camera has power and it is aimed properly. I kinda figured that out myself!
Are the specs available for this Wyze Cam Pan v3 (power requirements, connectivity, cards)? Didn't see anything on Amazon or Wyze. See that Lon is a Mac user. Have you tried using the Wyze app on a Silicon Mac? If so can you do something like download periodic stills or videos? I'm thinking of using it as an old style outdoor webcam to check out the mountains and ocean as well as animals in the yard. I imagine running an extension to the camera, either USB micro or using 110V and put the plug wart in a waterproof bag. Not interested in a subscription (have enough of those). Any Apple HomeKit integration? Thread or Matter? Enjoyed the review.
Would it make sense to use a camera like this with Synology Surveillance Station? I am just starting to research cameras and do already have a Synology 920+ running. Thanks for your content Lon The Mon!
It just so happens my next video will be on this topic. Unfortunately these cameras don’t have a native way to do it but there is a docker solution that works pretty well.
@@LonSeidmanYes and no. Wyse formerly offered a “beta” firmware that supported RTSP which would allow links to other systems. But in the last few months they removed all of those beta firmwares. I suspect that firmware was also susceptible to their “open www” security bug.
I listened to the review at 75% playback speed, and it sounded very normal!! 🙂
GREAT REVIEW and Info Watched your WYZE free ride and commented there too , I will be buying this.
I was most surprised the camera's video showed up on the google home. Getting that to work was like a shot in the dark

Its very poorly designed. I would not recommend this version. I have the v2 and no issues with sighting.

I have had poor latency when my internet is slow or intermittent
Could I connect to internet through hard wire?
Is there some SDK/API? Python and/or C++ .

It's adorable
Que panel solar puedo usar para esta cámara 😔
Why my v3 doesn’t have Pan Scan once I set my waypoints.
i just need to know if synology could use the pan feature if not then i'll stay with my v3

👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The mount is a pain. It's very difficult to find a specific event.
Where are the options for longer cable, around 15 feet?
I intend to use this camera outside at the front of the house.
You can buy flat usb cables from Amazon
Yes. Just pinch the picture on your device (iPad or iPhone) to zoom in on a portion of the camera shot.
can you zoom in and zoom out?
Their app is terrible. It doesn't even employ Android's default Notification Channels, which virtually every app has been using for half a decade.
Wait til the Disney folks find out that they've ripped off WALL-E ;)
I would have gladly paid 4x’s more for it just so I wouldn’t have a subscription. Hate they went to this. Guess I’ll keep looking
