The Safari ball is one of the best pokeballs in the game because you get 30 of them for 500 currency. For traders, people who are trying to fill slots with junk mons to exchange for good ones on another game, the safari balls are the best bang for your buck. I recently traded 300 mons from my soul silver to my diamond by using safari balls in diamond to trade for the soul silver mons. Even if you only get 3 pokemon from the 30, that is still a profit when compared to a single catch with an ultraball or quickball. You also don't have to worry about running out of PP when farming. My advice when doing the safari zones, don't bother with bait/ rocks. Just keep throwing the balls. That pokemon will show up again, and you will get another chance to catch them later, if they run. RNG is always RNG, so might as well take every opportunity to catch the mon when you see it, instead of wasting a turn to bait it... just to have it run away.
Have you done a video on the most confusing, frustrating and questionable things GF has done with the Pokemon games? Like being unable to catch Murkrow and Houndour until the post game? Or the whole Feebas mechanic in G3?
17 hour long documentary then. Constantly adding and removing features, battle styles (triple, rotation, inverse, hoard, royale), post game content (locations and plot, additional areas for remakes like the Sevii), movepools that make no sense (I'm looking at you Attract Cryogonal), sticking to mechanics people hate (messy breeding and IV management and messy Egg Move when everything could be easily tutorable) but droping things people love (Frontier, Contests, Megas, Z-Moves, Buddy/Following, Super Training), Kanto pandering, 20 years later and we still don't get difficulty settings. Even design wise, even with really solid character and pokémon. Ace Pokémon for Leaders and Elite are supposed to still be catchable, sure, but having npc trainers share them is dumb and lazy. They are the pokémon you think off when you think of those trainers and vice-versa. You see Misty you think Starmie. You see Miltank you think Whitney. So... Technically Brock and Jasmine share. Why doesn't Karen have a Tyranitar? Why doesn't Morty have a Misdreavus when Agatha already had Gengars? Why is Manectric the only "new and viable" thing for Wattson in Gen 3? Why is Fantina's ace a Mismagius when she's dressed like a Drifloon? Why isn't there a Water/Fighting pokémon in Gen 4 so it makes sense for Crasher Wake to be a luchador? Why are there like 3 people each who main Lucario and Gardevoir? Why have Flint in Sinnoh when his only options for new things would be a Starter or Magmortar? (Honestly a Flying-type E4 could have been more interesting). Why Brycen when no Ice/Fighting? Why give Valerie a Sylveon instead of a Florges? Just why Olympia and Diantha? Gen 6 and 7 have a whole thing with unnacessable areas. Kalos Power Plant? Rhydon Race Track? Alolan's Golf Course? Even remakes. Like. Take LGPE for an example. It's Kanto for the 3rd time, right? But it isn't a remake, since you don't play with Red/Green/Blue, and the plot implies it happens slightly after. Why not have the player go the other way around the map? Update the national dex so evolution related pokémon (Gen 2 and 4 and Sylveon) are available? Keep Murkrow and Houndour around so we have viable Dark types in Gen 1? Add at least one new city? Revisit the Sevii? I love Pokémon but Game Freak just doesn't care about what they have lol.
@@emperorcubone Wasn't expecting you to reply and i hope you do decide to make it. Emperor Cubone No no no I don’t have a problem with the breeding itself, in face the process is really smooth and I love it, I just get tired because of the repetitiveness…I suppose.
i feel heard. safari balls always made me so mad, you don't know anguish until you throw futile balls at that one rare pokemon you need from that ONE part of the zone, that will run away as soon as you let your guard down. :( dream balls are cute tho
Freind ball >>>> Luxury Ball. It's not only faster for friendship evolution, it also is for those who want to use return. So its biggest issue is availiability.
The list feels kinda odd, supposedly going from bad to worst technical features, yet the worst ball on this list is the first one mentioned as the rest has a feature that could be used. Then I feel like the quick ball is being ignored, as it only has a multiplier on the first turn, which is only really useful against roaming pokemon, the apricot balls, while having a very niche target, at least do have a use. Then the luxury ball only doubles the happiness rate, which actually isnt that good. Max friendship is achieved by using a friendball, getting a massage and leveling up 2-5 times, which is a lot less than having a Luxury ball that starts happiness at 50(doesnt even double that), and then you have to gain 65 points(130 points as they are doubled), excluding massages as they dont count, which, the fastest way seems to be using a 2 friendship berries, then getting a friendly combo and a friendly lunch, and then gaining a massage and only then are you at the same position with having to level up 2-5 times depending on what massage you get. Seems like an awful extra set of steps for the average pokemon, not even including the pokemon that start at a friendship that's lower than 50. You have 24 pokemon, where the friendship is high enough to consider the luxury ball over the friend ball, because their base friendship is over 100. But only 2 of those pokemon evolves using friendship, and they are already at 140 base friendship, so something as simple as getting 1 massage tends to evolve them already. I mean, we were definitely only talking about usages and not the looks, as the premier and heal ball were included, yet, an exception seems to be made in this case, where the friend ball, for its intended purpose, heavily outclasses the luxury ball, but the luxury ball looks more classy.
I never stop using potions or super potions. If you only need to heal 40 health, why would you use a hyper potion or full restore? Such a waste of money.
Heal balls are found fairly early in a couple games. In Sinnoh, you can get in in Jubilife, Oreburgh, Floroma, and Eterna before the first two gyms and then in Johto, it can be found Cherrygrove and Violet before the first gym. In Black and White, it can be found in Striaton before the first gym and in their sequels, it can be found in Virbank before the second gym. After that, they decided to start placing it after the second and third gyms making it effectively useless. I honestly never used them cause I found it easier to just walk back to a center in the early game then spend a pretty penny on a heal ball.
@Shadow King Based on Bulbapedia you can after you do the catching tutorial on route 29 for Cherrygrove and at any point in Violet so don't try and say that please
5:40 that is completely wrong. In all main series gen 4 games (hearthgold/soulsilver/platinum/diamond/pearl) and in black/white you can buy them before the first gym.
Oh, so the Friend Ball actually jumps the friendship up to 200? Oh wow, that's pretty insane! I got to catch very recently a Togepi in one on Sword. Literally leveled up and she evolved. Now I understand why, jeez...
I've used so many premier balls, in POGO of course, outside of that, I've just sold them in the main series games. I've also used the heal ball once in pokemon Black and that was the only time ever. Although i do like the premier ball, i hate the heal ball. Great video by the way. Was starting to miss you dude.
You lost me at Premier ball lol. Even if they are pointless. The fact that they're an optional design is worth it enough. You don't need shinies, theyre the exact same as the original colored pokemon and had no merits to set it appart aside from color.
I've actually used the heal ball before. During my first (& currently only) kalos playthrough, i used one to catch my final team member. A Goomy. That same Goomy became a Goodra & went to the hall of fame with the rest of my team.
I like the fancy animation that comes with the premier ball. It's just a slightly different sparkle in most games, but that's more than enough for me :D
In generation 5, i caught an axew in a heal ball which is ironic because most catch them in dusk balls for a cool effect for haxorus. Mine now comes out in a pink and yellow heart.
In case you guys are wondering what kind of glitch makes the Moon Ball ineffective and you don't want to look it up because it wasn't said in the video: The game checks if the pokemon evolves with the item BurnHeal.
Great list! My least favorite PokeBall is the Repeat Ball. Yeah, it has its uses for branched evolutions, and initially, I liked it just as much as my favorite, the Timer Ball. What made me start to dislike it was the fact that unless you want to finish most/all the PokeDex on one save file, it doesn't provide much use outside of that. Heck, the Nest Ball is better for scooping up duplicates, especially if you're backtracking. It also has one of the worst aesthetics I've ever seen. Who's idea was it to have gray circles outlined with yellow? The only aesthetics I've liked for it are Gen 3 and Gen 7(I think the spinning circles are cool!)
I still remember using a heal ball back when I first played Diamond as a kid. I ran into the old chateau and was looking around for some Pokemon. I bumped into a Gastly and was super excited. Buuuuut, I used up all of my pokeballs in Eterna forest so I only had the heal ball I bought just to see what it did. After catching Gastly, I was excited to see what the ball did, but I had a full party like any sane kid would. So Gastly ended up in the box and I never used a heal ball again
The Heal Ball has been available in early game since its introduction in gen 4. You can start buying them in Oreburg City. Also in The Gen 6 Games you can buy premiere balls by themselves in Lumiose city in the pokeball shop. Buying them is the easiest way to raise your style.
The premier ball's distinguishing feature IS the look. The fact that they're prohibitive to collect AND use, but they look cool. I use them to catch Pokemon I would use, assuming the catch rate wasn't abysmal. As for the heal ball, it's bad, but it COULD be good if Nintendo decides to make a difficult area that would necessitate healing. Some kind of Safari/Bug Catching Contest hybrid where you can use whatever balls you want, but once you catch a Pokemon, that's the one you have to use for the rest of the contest, forcing you to work your way up with increasingly damaged Pokemon. Generally when healing is scarce, and you have to make due with what you can find. I like the IDEA of the Heal ball, but it's just not useful.
The only use I have for the premier ball is catching Reshiram as it fits it's color scheme perfectly so yeah, that is the only use I have it for... or if I don't have enough poke balls anymore which very rarely happens if I forget to stock up on poke balls of any kind
The reason the Premier Ball exists is so you get a bonus when buying 10 or more Poke Balls. It's basically a buy 10, get one free. It's there to encourage people to catch more Pokemon basically.
Regaring the healball.. You can buy it in Oreburg City, which is the 1st gym. You can buy it in Cherrygrove City, which is the literal first town with a shop you encounter in HGSS. In BW you can buy it in Striaton City, 1st gym again. BW2 in Virbank, that is a little late yeah, 2nd gym town XY was really late, all the way in Lumiose. Not sure why ORAS had it in Verdantuf town, again really late SMUSUM had it in Haoli city again, the very first town. So yeah. In SwSh I don't know where, but I recall seeing them for sale very early on. In most games you can buy them early on.
I like the different pokéballs purely for their aesthetic value. I have this thing where I like members of my team to all be in different pokéballs matching their colour scheme (other than my starter, of course). So Trevenant would for example be in a Dusk Ball, Salamence in a Great Ball etc.
"When was the last time you used a Heal Ball?" Oh! I just used a Heal Ball not too long ago when I started my Ultra Sun profile. I caught a Smoochum with it, which is now a Jynx on my main team! Honestly glad I did used the ball on her, I love having a cute pink ball for my adorable pink Pokemon that I've always wanted to train.
the aesthetics of the friend ball, dream ball, and moon ball are far outweigh the minor benefit they have to catching pokemon. they are great options when you try to color match with the target pokemon!
I love the heal ball because the image of a legendary pokemon (like Groudon) inside this small bright pink ball really makes me chuckle for some reason

If you wanna complain about gen 3, don't forget the Regis.
Not that topic specifically, maybe just some points here and there in the Problems videos. But that might be interesting to do...
I also have another video suggestion about whether or not GameFreak should release a Make Your Own Pokemon game using the GBA style? I'm wondering how well it would do since there seems to be a lot of fan made games.
Honestly it would make a lot of money if they execute it right. The game with basic content could be set at around 50 and additional DLC could be 5-10 per pack plus an annual fee to be able to share and play other fan made games.
I love specific aesthetics for my moms I use different balls for each mon for no reason
you love your what?
Since we’re on the topic of Poké Balls, I actually painted some white pumpkins to look like Poké Balls and Premiere Balls for Halloween this year. Say what you want about their functionality in game, but they’re good for arts and crafts. 🎃
I catch all my mons in poke balls to be like the anime
I mean i get it but even ash has used a different ball to catch totodile
Sprite Guy me too
@@thomashoughton5270 and phanphy
I catch my mons to be like Gladion in the Anime
@@spriteguy7819 Holy crap i forgot about that, good memory dude
The heal ball seems to be available earlier in Sword and Shield.
Dude the premier ball is free, it shouldn't be on this list.
well when you spend 2 k on poke balls XD is it really?
I mean the premier ball is a plus when ur buying tons of pokeballs
Henry McBark yeah
The catch rate per money spent is at infinity! The highest of any ball.
I can also get hepatitis for free.
Premiere Ball is my second favorite after Luxury ball. I love the fact it looks cool while working like a regular Pokeball, makes the game a bit more fun & challenging. I have a bunch of Legendary Pokemon in Premiere Balls plus some Pokemon I bred to have either Premiere or Luxury.
Please keep the videos coming, I enjoy seeing them =3
Premier ball has a different animation when sent out
Voice: "but you can't even catch eevee in the wild"
Screen: "a wild eevee appeared"
Yes I understand that's from a different game but I still needed to point out how odd this selection of images is throughout the dialogue
Great vid! You're giving me my Pokemon fix until Sword and Shield comes out.
I don't understand how you have so low number of subscribers but the views for most videos are high! Also, your videos are awesome so I think you should have way more subscribers
Thank you! I wonder the same thing sometimes, but I guess I'd rather people watch and not subscribe as opposed to not watching at all...
actually the premier ball was purchasable in x and y (and was the best way to grind to max style) also it is my favorite Pokeball for catching shiny Pokemon.
I know I’m new to this channel, the intro music has probably been like this for ages, but it’s seriously giving me PTSD of the breeding ages in X&Y…
What are you talking about? Kalos breeding was great!
:(
dream balls are cute tho
Well, yeah. The people giving you the balls don't really want you to catch any pokémon.
Freind ball >>>> Luxury Ball. It's not only faster for friendship evolution, it also is for those who want to use return.
So its biggest issue is availiability.
"And this one only works at noon on Sundays, it's called a Brunch Ball"
Okay I'd actually love that though...
Haha. I know that reference. Funny.
"There were only 4 friendship evolutions"
Togepi: Am I a joke to you?
I wish the moon ball was better because it looks so cool. I'm pretty sure I've never even used one though and that's just sad
For the Premier Ball they should make it so it has a 3x catch rate on shinies
5:40 that is completely wrong. In all main series gen 4 games (hearthgold/soulsilver/platinum/diamond/pearl) and in black/white you can buy them before the first gym.
But you’re looking at them using the standpoint of now, not then.
In sword and shield, dream balls are more effective against sleeping Pokemon
How to die: take a shot every time he says "ball"
Oh, so the Friend Ball actually jumps the friendship up to 200? Oh wow, that's pretty insane!
I got to catch very recently a Togepi in one on Sword. Literally leveled up and she evolved. Now I understand why, jeez...
The luxury ball and the quick ball are my favorites
I love premier. Balls as they helped me catch a drakloak I couldn't catch it with an ultra ball
I like the heal pokeball cause it has a nice design and it has a pretty look when you send the pokemon you caught with it
It would be awesome if I can just straight out buy primer ball. I like the look but I’m usually so rich I don’t mind wasting the extra cash.
I've used so many premier balls, in POGO of course, outside of that, I've just sold them in the main series games. I've also used the heal ball once in pokemon Black and that was the only time ever. Although i do like the premier ball, i hate the heal ball. Great video by the way. Was starting to miss you dude.
I knew the heal ball would be on this list, but I love the heal ball. Mostly for asthetic reasons because the release effect looks really cool.
Awesome piece of content. Keep up the great work! :))
You lost me at Premier ball lol. Even if they are pointless. The fact that they're an optional design is worth it enough. You don't need shinies, theyre the exact same as the original colored pokemon and had no merits to set it appart aside from color.
Eh, that comparison doesn't hold up. They don't hand out a free shiny after every ten encounters; that would just depreciate their value...
I totally agree with what you said about the Friend Ball.
A one time boost doesn't compare to Luxury's effect of constantly improving friendship.
I've actually used the heal ball before. During my first (& currently only) kalos playthrough, i used one to catch my final team member. A Goomy. That same Goomy became a Goodra & went to the hall of fame with the rest of my team.
5:40
That Heal ball plush looks actually freaking adorable
I know that if ever I’m angry, full of rage and hatred I can focus it all at the safari zone and it wouldn’t be misplaced.
It may have the same rate as a regular ball but it looks excellent, the clean white with the red highlight makes it one of my favorites
Gen 5 had Heal Balls pretty early, I think?
You get like 5 for free after the first gym
In case you guys are wondering what kind of glitch makes the Moon Ball ineffective and you don't want to look it up because it wasn't said in the video: The game checks if the pokemon evolves with the item BurnHeal.
Premier ball has increased catch rate on holidays and has highest rate on your birthday
The heal ball is better in swsh due to boxes no longer healing
I still remember using a heal ball back when I first played Diamond as a kid. I ran into the old chateau and was looking around for some Pokemon. I bumped into a Gastly and was super excited. Buuuuut, I used up all of my pokeballs in Eterna forest so I only had the heal ball I bought just to see what it did. After catching Gastly, I was excited to see what the ball did, but I had a full party like any sane kid would. So Gastly ended up in the box and I never used a heal ball again
Gamefreak introduced the moon ball in the same game as the day and night mechanics, yet the moon ball has nothing to do with day and night.
I used my moon ball in Pokemon moon to catch lunala.
Nice; on brand...
@@emperorcubone The moment I got that moon ball I knew exactly what I was gonna do.
Same here its just so fitting for Lunala.
@@starlightgardens4400 If only there was a just as fitting ball for solgaleo.
We need a sun ball.
The dream ball can be used in sword and shield whenever
Hint Of Sarcasm the dream ball’s purpose was changed in swsh to make it so that it catches pokemon easier when asleep. The vid was made before swsh
Regaring the healball..
You can buy it in Oreburg City, which is the 1st gym.
You can buy it in Cherrygrove City, which is the literal first town with a shop you encounter in HGSS.
In BW you can buy it in Striaton City, 1st gym again.
BW2 in Virbank, that is a little late yeah, 2nd gym town
XY was really late, all the way in Lumiose. Not sure why
ORAS had it in Verdantuf town, again really late
SMUSUM had it in Haoli city again, the very first town. So yeah.
In SwSh I don't know where, but I recall seeing them for sale very early on.
In most games you can buy them early on.
I’m pretty sure heal balls were the first poke balls I purchased in pearl so there’s that for usefulness at least
Dream ball can be obtained in SwSh and it now has an increased capture rare for sleeping pokemon.
7:26 dreams ball is only use in the dream world
Ball guy: hold my beer and this dream ball
The ball from the pal park you dont even get to keep it goes to the original ball it was caught in..
the aesthetics of the friend ball, dream ball, and moon ball are far outweigh the minor benefit they have to catching pokemon. they are great options when you try to color match with the target pokemon!
I use premier balls to catch dynamax Pokémon
