@@WolfMates I've just recently had a test ride on the Benelli Trk 502. Below 4,000 the engine was a little buzzy. Above 7,000 the engine became progressively more harsh in vibration to the point where you wouldn't want to sustain speeds upwards of 130 kph or 80 mph. The sweet spot seems to lie from 4,000 up to the torque peak of 6,000. Your revised gearing would allow the engine to sit where it is smoothest & most comfortable. This engine seems to be tuned for mid range torque, not peak power. It is obviously restricted at the top, & I believe the excessive vibration above 7,000 comes from an artificially lean air/fuel mixture to restrict peak power for the A2 licence regs. It has a 360° crankshaft, both pistons rising & falling together, & has a balance shaft to even things out. So it shouldn't vibrate at high rpm from a mechanical perspective. This makes me think that the vibration comes from lean combustion.
@@hiyadroogs excelent explanation :) Yes the engine loves to be from 4 to 6k rpm :) I though 360º engines were vibration prone at high rpm even with a balance shaft :) Lately ive been feeling alot more vibrations at 4k to 4.5k I found out some worn o-rings on the exhaust, lets hope its just that ;) Cheers mate!

yeah but then the 500cc 48hp engine would not have enough power for the 235kg :) Thats why i changed to 39 teeth but i lost 7% torque... on a heavy bike :) atm 100kph is below 5 that is the maximum torque rpm ;) Cheers mate thanks for watching!

Don’t understand why all you guys have to do the efforts of changing out the sprockets just to see the amount of speed/rpm change. Much easier to do the math. If, at a certain speed, for example 80kmph, a 14T front sprocket results in 4000rpm, then a 15T front sprocket, at the same speed, will result in 4000/15x14=3733rpm, or at the same rpm, the speed will increase to 80/14x15=85.7kmph.

Yeah its a very interesting question, I do like the feel of the 44 teeth rear sprocket. The torque is very nice. The problem is as soon as I go to a freeway or anyroad above 100kph I go about 6k rpm or more. Some mates with TRK X chance the front sprocket to 15 teeth (thats more or less equivalent to 41 teeth rear sprocket) so im think in doing the same ;) The 44 teeth is thinking about offroad abilities ;) Cheers thanks for watching ;)
So, do you recommend changing the front sprocket or the rear, or both?
It depends if you have the TRK 502 or the 502 X :) But i think changing the front sprocket its easier and the results are very good :) If you ride with pillion and full luggage I dont recomend changing on the road version TRK :) cheers!
@@WolfMates, I have the 502 and ride solo, light load.
@@smlaveauful Well then if you like to ride more relaxed you might try 15Teeth front sprocket :) It good specialy for highways
@@WolfMates, I mainly ride highway speeds, 55mph plus!
@@smlaveauful Then you will like the 15teeth sprocket for sure :) You will loose a bit aceleration of course but its nice on highway :)
Hello Friend. I saw a temperature indicating instrument and a voltmeter above the dashboard. Where did you buy it? Do you have a link to them?
Hi Nikola :) i bought it 2 years ago on e-bay :) works very well and the temperatures and voltages are quite accurate :) Im gona leave a link with it, please keep in mind there are diferent colours available of the lcd :)

@@WolfMates Thanks a lot. I wish you a safe ride
you too friend :) stay safe! :)
In thailand 14/43 is very good bro 👌👏
Nice! I bet its a great country to ride our TRKs :) Cheers to Thailand from Portugal! :)
Did u got a free jacket?after buying this adv
hi :) When i bought mine in Febreary 2018 Benelli didnt had any promotion. But in 2019 during some period they gave out some helmet and jackets i think, in Portugal ;) Cheers mate thanks for watching!
the one thing putting me off of buying this bike is how undergeared it is! but 2 tooth is not enough it's still revving too fast! is it possible to change top gear ratio only? ideally revs should be down to at least 4000rpm@100km/h
yeah but then the 500cc 48hp engine would not have enough power for the 235kg :) Thats why i changed to 39 teeth but i lost 7% torque... on a heavy bike :) atm 100kph is below 5 that is the maximum torque rpm ;) Cheers mate thanks for watching!
@@WolfMates yes i agree, but it would enable low revs at cruising speed even if it couldn't reach current max speed in top gear
@@sasham4073 yap i also like to cruise at low revs :) well in teory you could try to drop the gearing even fruther hehe :)
Someone in another video said this: "I would to add a note of caution here. Before you do this, check which version of this bike you have. A TRK 502X has a 14/ 44 front / rear sprocket combination. A TRK 502 (NON X) has a 14 / 42 front / rear sprocket combination. You will REALLY struggle to get under way from a dead stop with a 15 / 42 combination on the TRK 502 Non X version of this bike as it is simply too tall for the engine.
The engine doesn't have enough torque to pull the bike away from a stop line on a hill for example. Plus the 15 tooth upgrade is only ok on the X version, "IF" you don't load your bike up with a fully loaded set of panniers, top box
and a pillion. I have a TRK 502 NON X version with a lot of luggage to carry. I'm having to fit a 14 / 44 set up as the original 14/ 42 sprocket set up made the bike useless if not almost dangerously slow on acceleration to ride on
anything that wasn't a "Motorway." So the 15 tooth sprocket is only any good if you don't have Lots of weight on."
What do you think about this comment? As I have a TRK 502 (non X) and would like to reduce the rpm in general and increase the torque a little. Thank you
i don't know.. sounds like exaggeration. ideally, the gears ratio relative to each other should be different so to achieve low revs in tops gear and still have strong first gear, but failing that, playing with sprockets is the only option
This will be one topic that you will get 50/50 opinions hehe.
I will only think on doing that if 80% of mi trips were on highway, and thats not mi case at all, since i do avoid trolls/highways if i can ;)
I do +/- 70 km every day (V.Pinheiro -Lisboa) but i use the national/secundary roads, and i always use the topcase and side bags.
Regarding the fuel benefict, its also only true if your main trips are on highway.
Perssonal opinion, i do think you will regret going to Asturias with a 15/39 :( will be cool to "get ther", but i bet u will regret it not having the 14/42 once you are "ther"....

yes :) i was thinking the same hehe those mountain roads :P I also prefer secondary roads but to get to asturias.... will testride it full cases and pillion soon to mae my decision :) So far with just the topcase i realy realy like it :) I need also to try some dirt tracks to check if 1st gear is too long now :P Thanks for watchingggggg!

Ha estradas lindas, como a do acesso aos "lagos" que estao fechadas em alturas de ferias (excesso gente/viaturas), e la, tens depois caminhos de terra batida
