Australia!!! Outstanding!! Amazing that you're on the other side of the world. Love the ability to connect w this platform. Great video, looks like your helmet has a wider brim, i still looking for one like that. Cheers!
There's about six different styles... French-pattern - domed top, wide brim, six vent-holes in triangles. (mine). India-pattern - oval top, slightly narrower brim, four vent-holes, two on each side (yours). USMC-pattern - Domed top, like French-Pattern, but larger overall, with five vent-holes on each side. Vietnamese-pattern - small, domed, down-sloping brim, with two vent holes on each side (and I think, one on front and back). They're unique in that they're the only ones which aren't either white, or khaki (which are the traditional colours). British-pattern - High-crowned, sloping brim, with sharp point at front. I picked the French-pattern one because it's small, compact, but classic. You can wear it in a car or walking around, and it doesn't take up a lot of space.
@@shahancheong9792 Those are the one's available from Village Hats, but they don't necessarily reflect the actual styles of sun helmet. Their "Indian" style is quite different from the traditional Bombay Bowler, and this "French" style is really more typical of a universal civilian-style helmet rather than the ones actually used by French colonists.
@@brahmanyadebchakraborty there are plenty of places that still sell them. Traditional pith helmets are made of cork or sholapith. The cheap knockoff ones are just made of pressed fibre or plastic.
Nice, fascinating that there are so many subtile things with this hat type.
