    This is why if a rider wants to get out early, I let them out and then drive to the original destination before swiping that the ride is complete. Though to be fair I've never actually had my fares reduced like this.

    So I don't do as many airport trips anymore because Uber just offers them at trash rates, during the early morning times. But when I did do them I would encounter a very similar issue when I would do drop offs at IAH (Houston), If you put the airport it would put the address at terminal c, The big issue with IAH is the airport is split into two sections with most of the domestic flights at A/B and United and the international flights at C/D/E you have to do a 2 mile loop to go back around from one section to the other.
    Also last year whenever I would let passengers know that I was gonna get shaved on this, I asked out of curiosity if their charges were reduced they all would tell me and offered to show me the receipts that their charges did get dropped a fair bit.

    • @Giovanniheard
      @Giovanniheard Месяц назад

      That’s why I stop doing airport trips as well because of the construction then when you drop them off where they’re supposed to be dropped off at Uber cuts the pay and says something about the destination was shorter then customer requested Uber is just full of bullshit and they definitely need to up the pay in Houston Texas dealing with this goddamn fucking traffic all these 3 4 5 fucking dollar rides during fucking traffic hours , Uber full of shit man I swear fuck Uber and Lyft

    So we have to drop the passenger where they request, then drive to the pin to end the trip. Uber does the same thing at pick ups, putting the pin somewhere weird so the wait time clock never starts

    In my market, Uber is rate card. Lyft is upfront. I prefer driving for Uber. Lyft always underestimates the time. My actual ride always takes longer. I don't accept any Lyft rides now during rush hour traffic. Otherwise, I lose money on every Lyft ride

    Really, tho nothing will change, Uber and lyft seem to be unbreakable. There are years of this, and it's only getting worse and worse!!

  • @davidschneider2258
    @davidschneider2258 Месяц назад +2

    All trips should be rate card. If uber and lyft want to give the rider a quote and the driver an estimate, the driver should be paid for what they actually do. This way the rideshare apps can take the haircuts.

    Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks back April 13, 2024. For a 200 FEET coner changed, UBER cut an upfront fare of 17.89 to $14.23. I immediately reached out and for over 1hr, ALL the said was, "YOUR FARE IS CORRECT AND CORRESPONDED TO THE DRIVE TIME".....
    Yesterday Monday 28th, i picked a ride worth $27 for a 5mins pickup, drove 10miles to dropoff (GREENBELT METRO), n got paid $14 after dropoff. I called and same EXCUSES was given..... what could we do this?

    I like Chris idea, only issue in my case is that the Houston terminals are U shape and they put you facing the exits so you would have to drive all the way around the airport to get to a pin in the next terminal over. I do screenshot my rides mostly reservations and if there’s a discrepancy I chat with support which can be a fight

    Over the last two weeks I have noticed upfront fares trending lower. A passenger I have picked up over the last six months from the same location then dropping off at the same location has dropped from a little over eight dollars down to $6.75. This is on the Uber comfort electric platform.
    You are 100% accurate upfront fares need an overhaul! The overhaul should be going back to utilizing the rate card. Also, I believe they should be as independent contractors giving us the ability to set our rates utilizing the multiplier. At the very least these two overhauls would put us in a closer relationship with independent contractor status as these companies claim we are.

    That Definitely Happens

  • @anavrin98
    @anavrin98 Месяц назад

    This doesnt happen to me that Ive noticed.
    My airport has two termials and they're like 2 miles apart from each other. So I always double-check what they're flying on to elimate having to do a really unnecessary loop around the entire airport. For the times they did pick the wrong terminal, 9x out of 10x its really the one nearest to the most common access road they needed. That makes my trip like 2 miles short. So Im definitely glad im not getting a haircut on the price. Is it because 98% of my airport runs are reservations maybe?
    I could see this being really problematic for people too if their Uber app's airport directions are as funky as mine are at times. My airport gives people too many options. I need to know the airline not their gate. It also sometimes thinks my departure should be dropped off in the rideshare arrival area. My airport has no rideshare area for dropping off. I feel bad for new drivers at my airport because they tell you to use ramps that definitely dont goto the right place as well.
    My bigger issue is them sending me to reservations way too early. No one wants their reserved ride to show up 25 minutes early. Especially, to the airport. Gotta me sitting upto 35 minutes. Do that to me upto 3-4x potentially a day (i get a ton of airport reso's) and thats a lot of off road time.

  • @ilovemoviesyes
    @ilovemoviesyes Месяц назад

    I also noticed they cheat us on the time. I have Uber app on phone and gps on car play. The Uber app always has 1-3 minutes off gps. If they short every ride by 1 minute world wide they make how much? Nickel and dime for sure! We don’t get more for sitting in traffic. Ugh 😑

  • @Erica-ls7bp
    @Erica-ls7bp Месяц назад +1

    Dara is a small petty evil man. Uber clearly monitors driver discourse heavily across social media platforms. With surgical precision they've cut the per mile rate to undermine the driver adage of "$2 per mile to make a profit" to under $0.75 per mile. That's very intentional, they understand the driver's operating costs and they'd lowered the driver portion of the fare to keep most driver's making just slightly more than breakeven. It's the same predatory practices that taxis operated with the medallion system. Nasty work. All while violating federal employment and wage laws.
