    My granny ( born in 1902) always made fried apples from her June apple trees! My favorite!!! Just butter sugar, apples, and love! Thank you for sharing this with people that have never been blessed to enjoy! One of my comfort foods!!!!

      My Mammaw had June apples trees too. She always froze whatever she couldn't use up so she'd have apples all year long. Those were such good fried apples! Thanks for sharing your memories!

    I'm from southwest Virginia, and I love fried apples, biscuits, and gravy for breakfast .There is nothing or better comforting on a cold day. I enjoy watching your videos.

    I was born and raised in Southwestern VA. My Granny made fried apples all the time but mostly for breakfast. By my favorite was her fried apple pies! Love it. Thank you

      It’s super simple. I use my sourdough discard for the thickening agent, 1 tsp is all that’s needed for 4 apples peeled, I also add nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger. You can use any apple except the soft red delicious or golden delicious. It needs to be a firmer apple like gala, Granny Smith, sugar bee, honeybell, basically any pie apple works.

    I first learned about fried apples, my first year of college in Tennessee. When I made them for my mom and dad upon returning home, they quickly became a favorite. We even put them on ice cream! To this day some40 years later they are still a favorite.

    I'm a Minnesotan down to the core. I grew up on fried apples! Mom made them all the time. My favorite meal was a "garden" meal; fried apples, sweet corn, sliced tomatoes and cucumber salad. Even my meat and potatoes dad enjoyed that meal! IF there were any leftovers, they were delicious cold or room temperature as well as warm.

    The first time I ever tried fried apples was years ago at Cracker Barrel and I really liked them. I have since made them at home a few times. They always remind me of apple pie without the crust. Yummy😋😋😋

    I was raised about half of the year with my Aunt and Uncle in Johnson County (Meally, KY) in the heart of KY apple country and the Apple festival was a big deal. My uncle was an apple grower so we ate bushels of apples- especially fried apples- they were on the table (literally) every single meal. Love them with a big ole biscuit!       Thank you, Uncle Charlie, for watching. I remember my maternal grandparents having fried apples A LOT! They had apple trees, and my grandfather wanted something sweet with every meal. I don't remember them having desserts very often, but fried apples (or honey or sorghum) with bread or biscuits were part of most meals at their table.

      Many people in our area like to cook them down even more until they become extremely soft. I just don’t care for them being very mushy. I like them to still be in slices when I spoon them over a hot biscuit. We appreciate you watching our videos.

    I so love fried apples! I make mine in an iron skillet. I love them as a side for breakfast! 😋 I also add a little fresh lemon juice to counteract the sweetness, unless I use Granny Smith.

    Some people we attended church with back in the late 60's had apple trees in theur yard. She always fixed fried apples, and used them alot in pies. They were delicious 😋

      @@comesitatmytable9044 ~ You should try them with ice cream sometime. Hot, buttered biscuit, topped with apples, then a scoop of ice cream...better than apple pie! A favorite dessert when I was growing up. Grandma was a busy farm wife, and didn't always have time to make dessert, but biscuits were a given, and fried apples often served as both side dish and dessert when our apple tree was producing.

    I've been away having spinal surgeries. The first surgery, thoracic spine fused T2 to L1. Then the L1 broke and all the equipment, so emergency surgery T2 to Pelvic bone. I have been in hospital a total of 5 weeks and the Rehabilitation hospital a total of 4 weeks. I have an 18 month to 2 year recovery. No cooking for a long time so I'm enjoying your vlogs and saving them so I can pull them out when I'm ready to cook again. I enjoy you both so much and very much appreciate the time and effort you put into this channel for our enjoyment.

    My mom used to make this all the time. Us kids would gobble it up. Sometimes she would make it with maple syrup to put on pancakes. We loved it! Thanks for the memory.

      Just made some fried pork chops, stewed apples, & garlic mashed potatoes. It’s something we eat for each weekend breakfast & let it go all week. I also don’t use cornstarch, I use my sourdough discard for most of my recipes.

    Except for all of the carbs, I would serve these as a topping for Gingerbread to follow a meal of Chili or vegetable beef soup, or stewed chicken. Nice and warming combination for fall.

    Love these! My family was one of the few who ate them or even knew what they were. We'd do these with Bisquik drop biscuits, pan sausage, and that might be it for dinner sometimes. Another one of those budget-stretchers that we never realized mom was doing, but we enjoyed it like we had the best food ever.

    Thank you for reminding me of this wonderful dish! I grew up in Ohio in the house my Grandpa built in about 1908. We had 4 apple trees in our yard so lots of pies, cider, applesauce and this dish. I have some extra apples and am making tomorrow!

Maybe you could find something and film a segment on it. I know there is one done in a crockpot. People would LOVE it I am sure.

    My mother used to core red delicious apples and put butter, brown sugar and cinnamon in them and bake them.
    It was always a treat for dessert.

      My Mom did the same but added plumped raisins as well. I had a friend who made baked apples but with pie crust wrapped around them with a little stem and leaf cut outs on top. They were adorable and delicious.

    This is how I was always taught to make them! Love fried apples! When we had pancakes or waffles, we always had fried apples. Delicious on pancakes or waffles with a little bit of apple drippings or maple syrup!

    Have made these for years, but never added corn starch (they didn’t need the extra ingredient). I sometimes add a handful of pecan halves., or red cinnamon candies. Left overs are GREAT drizzled on hot oatmeal or pancakes/waffles in the morning with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

    I Sautee apples in butter, cinnamon and nutmeg every Sunday morning. No extra sugar. I leave the peel on.

    I love fried apples. My mom would sometimes add raisins and mini marshmallows. It was a little too sweet for me. I make them and put them on ice cream or oatmeal. Also, it's really good in sweet potatoes.

    I love fried apples, I am a apples and biscuits person too. I have been known if i have a little biscuit dough left to make my turnover for breakfast.I married a city slicker but this country girl has taught him what REAL good food tastes like

    Yummy! Honeycrisp are one of my favorites also. I love fried apples spooned over waffles, pancakes, or French toast at breakfast and with pork at dinner.
