It’s been a painful few days for me and in this video, I’ll share an event that happened to me this week and has reminded me that I need to pay attention when I’m out and about.
One moment was all it took for me to end up in pain and it could so easily have been avoided.

Hi sorry to hear what happened hope you get on the mend soon take care 😀
Thank you. My ribs are feeling better, but concerns with my left thumb. Much better than it was the other day.
Getting older sucks. Get well soon. Couple of weeks.
I reckon so. Thanks!
So glad your face and head were spared injury since you avoided professional hospital checkup
I was surprised I didn’t hit my face. I'm ugly enough as it is!
@@JamesMurphyYT you ain’t ugly you already passed through that young awkward years you showed it on this channel in your teen years pictures, so ugly you ain’t either
@@jameschavez6400 thank you.
So sorry, and pray you feel better soon. Be careful. I fell last year and really have not recovered. I hit my knee so bad that I did not realize that I had injured my shoulder.
That's much worse than mine. I'm slowly getting better and hoping I'll be back to normal by the weekend..
Thank you.
It's awful and disorienting to fall like that. Hope you will be all mended soon. When I had Covid Delta a couple of years ago, I lost my sense of balance for a few months and I fell down so constantly that I lost count of how many times; it was horrible. One thing I learned: don't have any shame about staying on the ground for a minute or so to collect yourself because you may need to get up carefully.
At the time I was more embarrassed than anything else, but realised how hurt I felt as well.
Little by little I'm feeling better though.
Thank you.
Ps congratulations on reaching 4k subs!
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Be more careful buddy! Getting old does suck, especially where recovering from even minor strains. I swear that when were kids a broken leg heals in a week!!
I can remember playing cricket with my arm in a sling when I dislocated my shoulder, broke my wrist and fractured my elbow when I was 13! I batted with one hand and bowled as well. This time I can't even do my trousers up!
Definitely don't bounce as well as we use to. It is hard to deliberately slow down to focus even though I should...very annoying. Get better soon. Thanks for the video.
Very annoying! I am a fast person and walking/typing slower is really getting on my nerves, too. Bless, ya.
Trouble is, in my mind, I'm still 25! Thanks!
I know what you mean. Thanks!
Exactly. That is not a bad thing. It means we aren't sitting around in the "pre decomp" situation just waiting for the end. 🙂
sometimes I can't not be stupid :) Specially when I am tired, hungry or left by myself.
I know that feeling! I just proved that!
Last New Year's eve in the afternoon out shopping, too much in a hurry, my left foot got caught on a curb and I fell hard forward. I could sense myself starting to fall but there was nothing I could do about it. I fell hard on my right side. The corner of my glasses hit the concrete. I found out later that the arm cracked and I had to replace it. My ribs felt bruised and my right arm ached. Sleeping was tough. I could not rest on that side of my body. But I seem to have recovered until the next time.
Sleeping has been almost impossible. I've been getting minutes, not hours.
My ribs are really aching, but today they've eased a little.
I have no strength in my thumb or fingers though.
Yep, ribs for me too.
@@missjoshemmett My ribs are slowly feeling better. However, I have no strength in my left thumb and because of that, I can't even do my trousers up!
Ouch! I can relate! I fell a while back going out the back door of our fixer upper and landed on my knees. Thankfully no one was around to see! 😃 it’s crazy how fast these things happen isn’t it. Hope everything heals up quick.
Thanks Deb. It's happened so quickly.
Ohhh, the dreaded "old man fall" 😂Been there, done that! Yes, we don't quite pop up like we used to and it does hurt for days! You are right though, I pay attention when I am multi-tasking and I am officially "I hold the railing when walking downstairs" old!! Cheers 🥤 and I too am rooting for England in the Euro's !
I didn't even bounce once! I still can't do my trousers up, and the thumb on my left hand is still swollen. Debz wants me to go to the doctor's but I'm not ready for that yet.
As for the football...it's gonna be hard. Spain are really good.
Falling hurts more as an adult because we have further to fall! 😂 oh to be little. Feel better soon... 😊
And much more weight to land. Thanks!
Get well soon it's no fun getting older. Keep up the good work. Your life experience's and advice have helped me alot recently enabling me to recover from a very difficult situation.
Thank you. It's humbling to hear that.
All the best as you move forward.
I'm sorry to hear Hope you feel better soon
Getting better each day. Thanks!
Sorry for your fall. I also fell last week in my home, the bottom of my Crocs caught on the edge of my lanai. I landed on my knee then flat on my face. No one was home at the time. Luckily no serious injury. It happens to the best of us young and old.
It's just one of those things that happen (fortunately not often). I'm pleased I didn't hit my face on the pavement, and was lucky I didn't break my glasses. I'm glad you didn't get any serious injury as well.
Take care!
I'll try. Thank you!
🙏 my reaction when i came off my bike James , who’s seen me 😮 x take care x
Will do. Thanks Pamela x
People of all ages fall....So, never worry about that. Sorry to hear you were hurt....but, glad it wasn't serious.
::::wishing a speedy recovery, Friend!:::::
I reckon I'll be aching for a few more days.
I'd like to think I'll be more careful, but once I stop hurting, I'll forget all about it.
Thanks!
@@JamesMurphyYT Listen to some of that good music you have....Dance a bit....loosen up those tight muscles.
@@stargazer1359 there's a thought!
Get well soon mate
Thanks Charlie!
Proof that people can move at the speed of light. I hit a hidden patch of ice last year and couldn't believe how fast I was on the ground. I was sore for about three months. Just found out my mom's crutch gave way at the restaurant a couple days ago and she went down. Everyone was staring. One person asked if she needed assistance. If you wonder why God gives you a little extra padding as you get older, there you are. All the best. 🤕
I#m glad I had the extra padding as it helped cushion the blow a bit. Talk about speed of light, I was on the ground before I knew it. Thanks for your thoughts.
Get well soon James, they say the older we are when these things occur means it hurts more, and to fair that’s quite correct, I remember about a year and a half ago I lost my footing on a bit of pavement and almost fell over, and as I regained my balance the first thing I did was look around to see who was watching, so don’t worry James you are not alone in doing the same, my ankle felt a bit sore for a couple of days and thankfully the pain went away, but it’s true what you say you can be fine one minute and then in a split second it happens and there we are down on the ground, but I must admit I’ve seen quite a few people who I’d say are a fair few years older than me trip and fall and often they really hurt themselves and in some cases fracture bones or even their hip, and when that happens it can mean a trip to A and E in an ambulance, and as we get older the recovery time can be quite a long process, but it just goes to show we gotta take it steady, and you’re right men can’t multi task either, I’ve often dropped my car keys while carrying bags back to my car when I’ve been shopping, so I’m well used to that.
I hope you regain full control with your hands James and all the aches and pains recede, and you feel better soon, so you can celebrate your forthcoming birthday in style, 😁👍👍
Thanks Steve! It's a week oday and my ribs are still hurting and I'm struggling to sleep at night.
When I did it, I thought I'd ache for a few days and that would be it but it's taking longer than I thought.
No doubt I'll be fine, but I'm an impatient sod sometimes and this is one of them! All the best my friend.
We certainly hurt more as we age.
I'm about 15 years younger than your goodself and I've suffered with chronic back pain for the last 5 years. And just 2 weeks ago I drove to visit my parents, an hour from me. Sitting on the sofa doing nothing other than chatting. Suddenly I was in a lot of pain on the left side of my chest.
I was thinking, am I having a heart attack as everyone on my mum's side suffers with heart problems.
So my parents being concerned took me to a&e. I was seen almost straight away.
I was told I was not having a heart attack. It was not even my heart.
Apparently there's another muscle on the left side of your body sitting behind your chest plate and it works almost as much as your heart. But I pulled that. And because I can't stop breathing to let it heal quickly, it's a case of no lifting or driving for the next 2 months.
So I'm unable to drive back home for 2 months and my old man has just gone in for the 2nd time since I've been here with his breathing issues.
I wish you a speedy recovery.
That sounds frightening. I was rushed to hospital between Christmas and the New Year when my doctor was worried that I may have had a heart attack. Luckily it wasn't and I had a load of tests which confirmed my heart was healthy.
One thing I will say to you is that if they tell you no driving or lifting, be sure you don't. I'd however add stretching to that.
When they took my kidney out at the end of 2016, they told me the same, but one day I stretched to reach a plate in our kitchen cupboards, and I was in agony and it put my rehabilitation back weeks.
I hope you start to feel back to your old self soon.
Thanks for your kind wishes Jason.
@@JamesMurphyYT Thank you James.I came to help my dad out and failing at that. He'd started laying a new hard floor in the lounge. Any other time I'd finish it off. It's hard watching him struggle doing what he used to do for a living. Thanks for the advice.
Take care of yourself James
@@jasonharvey5660 it's a rotten situation to find yourself in, but keep your chin up and keep looking forward.
Good morning, I'll be back in a few hours 😅
Catcha later!
Pic of shorts ! Be brave 😜
Hahaha!
Awww James , we don't bounce now.I have 2 family members with a total of 3 broken wrists , broken foot and cracked ribs between them , one was a kerb trip and the other just putting a foot in a hole and falling over.I slipped off a stool about 2 inches off the ground and instinctively put my wrists out to break the fall , i think i got away with a sprain. Take care :)
Sorry for the late reply. Just dicovered it in the held in review section. It was so easily done Gary - I'll be more careful from now on!
oouch as I said the other day...Jan 23 I fell over by front door on air and literally broke my foot
Not much fun is it?
@@JamesMurphyYT nope and to this day my ankle is still very weak, they threatened to put a metal plate in foot!!

It's just me then lol!
Me, too. And knees never really heal, eventually they get arthritis in them!
