Was unsure of which of these things to get at first and hardly anyone has a review. Thank you for making this one and appreciate you making this short and concise. It's clear the extra bit of cash is actually worth it for a much more organized, sturdy microphone arm compared to the predecessor.
I like the improvements, but the additional price doesn't feel worth it to me, especially since the only actual addition (not counting changed parts which seem to just be the clamp, desk mount and head) is the covers (which I don't really need, and I dislike the logos all over them). I just bought a PSA1 since the price difference between the two is quite large, especially here in New Zealand, and all I really want are the upgraded clamp (mainly just a piece of rubber) and head, so I'd rather just try to get those separately later on.
That, or you can just get your own rubber most likely and glue it on. I don't think it should be complicated at all. I completely agree with you, I really dislike the logos being all over it which is my main reason for going with the standard PSA1. I love that the + exists though. It's just that, that little extra for those premium consumers. Likely overpriced, but that is what premium is for. That gives them a little bit more money to help them sell normal variant at a competative price. I just got the PSA1 and I love it.
Thanks for the video. I hope you’re enjoying it so far. I’m curious about the width of the desk clamp. I have a desk that’s around 3 inches thick, and I’m wondering if it will fit.
Do you need to buy a separate piece to actually mount the procaster mic? I have the mic, I have the arm, but can't seem to connect them? Seems annoying to have to buy a third thing?
THANKS. I JUST BOUGHT ONE EXACTLY LIKE YOURS. I WAS THINKING THE ARM WOULD STRETCH OUT AND BE LONGER THAN IT IS. BUT I DONT THINK ITS ADJUSTABLE IN THAT WAY. I THINK ITS 37 INCHES IN LENGTH AND I DONT THINK IT WILL EXTEND OUT ANY LONGER THAN THAT WHICH IS A BIT OF A SHAME FOR ME BECAUSE I BOUGHT MY BOOM ARM FOR MY CAMERA. LUCKILY I FOUND SOMETHING HERE WHICH I BOUGHT ON EBAY A FEW MONTHS GO WHICH FITS ONTO THE BOOM ARM AND CONNECTS TO MY CAMERA SO THAT PART IS GOOD. I WAS GOING TO SCREW THE BOOM ARM ONTO A PART OF MY CLOSET WHICH IS NEXT TO MY PIANO THEN PUSH THE BOOM ARM OUTWARDS TOWARDS THE PIANO BUT THAT FAILED BECAUSE THE BOOM ARM DOESNT MOVE THAT WAY. SO INSTEAD I GOT MY METAL LADDER OUT AND PUT IT AT THE BACK OF MY CHAIR WHICH IS AT MY PIANO SO I WILL FLIM MY HANDS THAT WAY. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE A SUCCESS. I JUST WISH THE ARM WAS A LITTLE LONGER THAN IT IS. I TRULY DID THINK THE ARM WAS ADJUSTABLE AND WOULD BE LONGER THAN IT IS.
@@EFTM I ordered a wooden big desk ("MegaDesk" 🤓 ) and I designed it with 3 wholes for all the gear cables (music production).... darn I repented putting them so far away from the corners!! I pushed myself to the border.... But that's ok now, I added some design wooden desk shelves and fixed it... the mistake was turned into a happy error. cheers mate 🍺
How do you position the arm of the psa1 plus upward as you did? My one is too hard to move and when I put it in that position goes back immediately. Do I have to unscrew something to get that easy fast movement?
The original is a $6 IKEA desk lamp, a knockoff of a mechanism an intelligent person designed at some point. It does not even come with a reflector for the bulb.
good job, rode! you managed to make your sleek winner of a mic arm look cheap and silly. the rode psa1 PLUS a stupid promotional sock. to be clear, i am a fan of and owner of several rode microphones. they could have done what elgato did, and made a cheaper version of a yellowtec, and they would have done a better job. but no. a sock. they dressed it up in a tacky sock. (insert heavy sigh here)
I agree, the fact they made the mount hole larger too, so you can't use the old plate we already drilled into the desk. The mount and peg mount should of been the same size.
@@EFTM As someone with extremely sensitive hearing, those extremely sharp drilling noises did get very annoying when you suddenly sped it up at 3:58. Even at low volume, they pierced the ears in a way that hurt a bit. That said, its difficult to accomodate everyone and you did a great job with the video overall, definetely helped me think I made the right choice with going for the PSA1 which for my purposes is a better product, despite the lack of extra features :). Just saying I can understand Zhang in his critique.

Thanks for the vid, was considering buying one but no way I’m drilling into my custom desk
Thankyou, i came here to try and get a solid idea of which size to use to not cut anymore than needed away from the desk and got that answer easily :)

thanks, very helpful video. will that cable hole on the desk plate allow an XLR connector thru?
Super helpful comparison and I think the PSA1+ looks an seems great I'm definitely getting one now.
Thanks
Hope you like it so far. How wide is the desk clamp, I wonder? I have a desk that is around 3 inches thick. I wonder if it fits.

Thanks for a good quick video! well done.. As per the product, those logos. wow.. makes it loud..
I Wonder if you can remove the screws temporarily, to fit the cable threw the head mount.
When you fast forward the drilling noises it almost burst my eardrums 😂😂😂. Nice comparison video though.

Having a permanent spot is actually a no-no for me, so im going with the PSA1. Thanks for the video!
It comes with the normal clip on mount too!
You would of thought that Rode would of made it so you could run the cables under the slaves, would of made the cables look so much more neater…

I'm surprised you don't have links for those 3 items. Arm, desk, and rodcaster pro.
I’m not here to profit off your purchasing. Find the best deal you can get
@@EFTM I have had the rode psa1+ for over 5 months now n have no regrets. its 10x better than the blue origin!!
Cool video, I might order one right now. I bet you would've prefer to drill the hole way closer to the corner 😜
No that’s the perfect spot - gotta have the right reach too - it’s a big desk

Great video mate this is exactly what I was looking for
I might buy one to use a camcorder on it for streaming

The logo printing on the side is terrible.
Fits like a glove. You wear some very loose gloves 😂
What is this WhatsApp message about. Everyone seems to have received it. Have you been hacked?
Belin figgeu!
Brushed nickel

Um.. Why? I'm drilling...If you don't like it - skip it!

Imagine being a child that complains about scary noises
