Trader Joe's sells smaller blocks of tempeh and a sprouted tofu block that comes in two pieces. Sprouting is a wonderful way of eating plants in a whole new way too so you get benefits from both. Both of those products are organic. The tofu is a softer one but you can press it if needed. The cost is pretty affordable with both of those also

Fantastic tips. I do some anyway but am soaking my nuts right now! And I will grate tempeh. I love tofu but struggle with tempeh. Thanks from Australia!

More soya was mentioned eg tofu, tempeh. But presumably soya milk and yogurt is also beneficial?

@@alexandrinerigsbyhenry3032 yes it is for sure. I'm glad it worked for you. However we are naturally frugavoures ie fruit nuts n seeds. We are not meant to consume grains for longevity. Avocado is a fruit. Poly n mono unsaturated fats mop up Cholesterol ie bad fats.

I agree that adding grains to our diets improves our numbers. In addition to fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds. The typical American diet does not include enough of the good stuff and too much of the bad. Add clean water, sunlight and exercise to the “not getting enough” list.

I have thyroid issues and was told not to eat tofu, I’m sure I’ve read it too. Be good to know the truth.

That's right, same here. Fresh tofu is said to be the most goitrogenic food known. During digestion, it develops an enzyme that interferes with T4 and T3 production, slows the metabolism, and can actually attack thyroid tissue. Now I understand why Japan has so many fermented forms of soy. They don't just eat the fresh stuff.

I learn that tofu is not good for people who have thyroid issues. Fermented soy like tempeh, miso is healthier. And make sure to eat organic soy.
Same thing with almond. Make sure to buy organic almond.
Barley is my favorite food. But buy whole or hulled barley, not pearl barley.
Barley slow down the heartbeats, good for people who have heart palpitations or heart racing.

Read Dr Alan Christianson on soy! It’s an eye opener. A lot of the advice on soy re thyroid is apparently not based in good science

Cholesterol is critically important for human health:
    • Cholesterol is required for proper immune system function
    • Cholesterol is required for producing all sex hormones
    • Cholesterol is required for producing the cell walls that hold all out cells together
    • Cholesterol is required for creating bile which is what process dietary fat
    • Cholesterol is required for creating and absorbing Vitamin D
    • Cholesterol is required for creating the sheathing that protects nerves
Why would anyone want to lower their cholesterol?..
