Thank you. That was a well thought out and impartial review. The Mosko moto system looks practical and durable and super helpful that you can easily remove weight if you slide off. Not sure what I'll be going with when I change bikes in a few years time but the T7 is definitely on my list. Whilst I love the ruggedness of the KTMs and Huskys I think it's almost impossible to beat the Japanese for durability and reliability. 👍
Awesome been looking at purchasing the Tenere 700, haven’t seen many reviews of a “higher” mileage one. Good to hear no issues besides normal maintenance. Now if only I can find one for sale……
I just bought a DR650, so this bike is forbidden fruit at the moment. That said, I REALLY wish I had one as part of the stable. It fit my frame really well last time I sat in one

I've also had a KLR, then sold it and had a couple of road bikes. But now I want to get back on the dirt and this is top of the list. In fact, it's the only bike on my list. KTM's have reliability issues, Honda AT, BMW GS, Triumph Tiger too big, updated KLR needed an updated engine. For these reasons and lots more, looks like I'll be buying a T7! Thanks for your review.

I enjoyed your review. I have taken about as many laps around the sun as you have and am looking to replace my Multistrada PP with a more versatile bike (the Ducati is too nice to take off road). The T7 seems to be hitting the sweet spot for an all around bike. The biggest knock on it, as with most stock bikes, seems to be the suspension. You mentioned that you put a stiffer spring on it. Was that just the shock spring or did you put springs in the forks as well? Do you have any thoughts of replacing the cartridges and shock with top end units or is the stock stuff sufficient that a pricey upgrade is not in the cards? Also, are you happy with the range you get from the stock tank?
Thanks for watching Ben. I just did the spring. The front is just fine for me. I’ve never had any issues. The range can be an issue but I’ve never had to use the extra I carry. Now is a great time to be looking at a middle weight bike with all the new announcements. Thanks again for the comments!!

Great video thanks for the info! Few questions if you don’t mind. Did changing the front sprocket affect the MPH read out on the dash? What was the RPM difference between the sprockets at 70? Have you thought about doing the tubeless rear wheel setup?
Thanks Chris! Good question. I changed the sprocket fairly early on so I didn't notice much change on the speedo. Doing 73 on the speedo is really 70 mph. At 70 the RPMs are 5000 to 5100. I haven't given tubeless much thought but it would be nice. I have a hell of a time taking tires on and off at home so I have a huge fear of having to that in the field. Thanks for watching!!

Great review. It’s nice to hear real world situations discussed. I’ve been running the TAT with some buddies on my KTM 690R. It dose great in the dirt but not as comfortable on the road. I’m thinking T7 after the TAT is done. Thank you for posting!
Wow. I have a drz400. Been riding it for a year. I’m 60 and have ridden on and off over the years. Im wanting to do some longer trips but realized this bike isn’t really suited for highway riding. I’m trying hard to at least keep the bike before I start looking at bikes like yours. I think I need to wear my 400 out a little more but see a Tenere in my future

Very informative video and I like the way you’ve setup your bike. A few years ago I decided to add a bike that I could use in the trails. I decided on the Ktm 690 enduro r mostly because of its weight but 67hp, good suspension and ground clearance helped too. Now I find myself wanting to check out trails further from home. I’ve been looking at the midsize adventure bikes. The T7 and the Ktm 890 adventure r are the two bikes that interest me most. I like the Yamaha’s simplicity and looks better than the Ktm. All the technology really doesn’t interest me and I look at it like it’s just more stuff to go wrong with the bike. Finding a T7 for sale at a dealership or even used is almost impossible though. The Ktm however is more often available. I’m not looking forward to the extra 100lbs of either bike but better highway manners will be great. The 690 is a fun bike but a highway cruiser it is not
Thanks Mike! I hear ya. They're both good bikes. Seems like more and more middle weights are becoming available. It is a big weight difference but if you're going to do a lot of highway to get where you want to go off road those two are much better on the highway. Really chilled down-to-earth review. Key points for me: the Air Hawk seat, the forward pegs, the cruise control and the 16 tooth front sprocket. The latter might possibly increase the longevity of the chain because the links take a slightly less acute excursion around the sprocket. Really hard to beat that bike for versatility and practicality although I hear the new Tuareg's beginning to make some noise.
This is an awesome video - I've watched a few of yours now. Curious - can you put a link for the cheap cruise you got? I bought an Atlas last year for $180 and it has vanished - literally cannot find it anywhere in this house. I don't need anything crazy, but just would love to stretch my hand out every once in awhile.

I’ve done the front sprocket change, the windshield upgrade (Puig) lowered it 20mm and the kickstand to match. I’m gonna do the Camel-Adv auxiliary fuel tank and the factory handbags as well. Air hawk is absolutely essential because the seat is a brick after an hour but other than that I have done several 750 mile days and no problems. The only thing I don’t like is how easily this bike is effected by sidewinds but that’s just because I was used to a Bagger. Oh yeah, I have the throttle lock as well. I’m Loving this T7.

I went 2 Yamaha this morning and they're expecting icon blue 2022 anytime ask him if anybody had deposits on any of them he said no said I want it he'll let me know when it comes in or availability to be shipped . soon as I get mine I will park my mt10 for a little bit
I bought mine in June 20. It’s listed as a 2021. Make sure you stay on top of your dealer. I thought I had mine since I put down a $500 deposit in October 2019. Then got screwed with on the release of the first bikes and had to scramble to get mine. You’re gonna love it. It’s a great bike. Enjoy! Thanks for watching
Loved your review of the bike. It was very practical review. I wanted to know in your opinion how much weight someone needs to be able to lift in order to pickup this bike? I am considering this bike but I am afraid that I may not be able to pick it up if I dropped it off-road. I am 5'9" and weigh about 150lb. So assume there is no extra luggage or dead weight. Would you say anyone that can lift 120 lb can manage standing up this bike on their own?
That’s hard to say? 🤔. I’m 71 yrs old 6’1” and able to pick it up. “Big Rock Moto” has a video on several bikes and what it takes to pick them up. The T7 is one in the video. Check it out and maybe it will give you a better idea. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it. 😊

I do the oil and filter every 4 but yes the next major service is in 8000 miles at 24k. That will be the 1st valve check. I’ll probably do the chain and sprockets at 20,000 miles. Thanks for watching!
I heard the chain guard is a MUST or in the dirt it can smack/crack the front countershaft sprocket casing and bleed oil. Theres a video on here about it👌
You seem to have a lot of experience with the bike, and pretty well thought out opinions on it. I was however missing something that I am interested in, and I am curious about your thoughts. How about using this bike for longer distance travel with a pillion? Would it still be a good fit for that, or would you think its better to get something 'heavier' (i.e. AT, tiger, 1200/1250gs etc).
From a comfort standpoint for the pillion I think something a little bigger might be better. It will handle a pillion just fine but just not as comfortably as a bigger bike like a GS or Africa Twin, Triumph 1200 or KTM 1290. If you're pillion is only on rare occasions no problem otherwise go bigger. Just my opinion, Thanks for watching!!

Just ran across your channel , great info !! i have my big orange Adventure bike for sale now and one of these is on top of my list for replacement , i need to switch for a lighter (easier to handle off road) bike and a simpler so maybe i can do some of my own maintenance + more reliable & just lower overall running cost bike...
Off road is plenty of power. The only power on the highway I miss a little is doing a steady 80/85 mph. The T7 will do that but you're tacking pretty high.

Marvin, I'm not familiar with the maintenance schedule on the KTM but it's been way less expensive to maintain than my GS 1200 was. Easier to work on too.
Hi, in the manual stays that every 2000 km you have to renew the inner work from the calipers and change the the brake liquid,.and every 4000 km renew the brake cables.. That seems to me not low maintenance. Never heard about that,.atleast at my last Honda bike. And special yammie liquid oil (10w40).... Greetz Alexander
Hello, not sure what manual you are looking at but mine says check the brakes every 6,000 km and the brake fluid is to be changed every two years. You don't have to use yammie oil but they recommend their brand. Thanks for watching!!
Sorry, I've had it for more than 5 yrs and I don't remember the model. It was the least expensive one. It was about $100 US dollars. They had one with a heavy duty bladder for $200 but this one has been just fine. Thanks for watching and the question.

@@seisamigos397 Thanks, I have a deposit on that bike. Never had an Adventure bike so a little scared of it mass. Dirtbikes is what I have now. KTM's 300 2 stroke and a 450 XCW. Will be interesting to see how off roadable it is. Going for the heavier spring for sure, do it on all my bikes. Already bought my Giant loop tank bag and the Great Basin and Tillamook bags. Not have to wait for Yamaha to have the chips to make the bikes. Dealer said March.

Great review. It’s nice to hear real world situations discussed. I’ve been running the TAT with some buddies on my KTM 690R. It dose great in the dirt but not as comfortable on the road. I’m thinking T7 after the TAT is done. Thank you for posting!

Wow. I have a drz400. Been riding it for a year. I’m 60 and have ridden on and off over the years. Im wanting to do some longer trips but realized this bike isn’t really suited for highway riding. I’m trying hard to at least keep the bike before I start looking at bikes like yours. I think I need to wear my 400 out a little more but see a Tenere in my future

Very informative video and I like the way you’ve setup your bike. A few years ago I decided to add a bike that I could use in the trails. I decided on the Ktm 690 enduro r mostly because of its weight but 67hp, good suspension and ground clearance helped too. Now I find myself wanting to check out trails further from home. I’ve been looking at the midsize adventure bikes. The T7 and the Ktm 890 adventure r are the two bikes that interest me most. I like the Yamaha’s simplicity and looks better than the Ktm. All the technology really doesn’t interest me and I look at it like it’s just more stuff to go wrong with the bike. Finding a T7 for sale at a dealership or even used is almost impossible though. The Ktm however is more often available. I’m not looking forward to the extra 100lbs of either bike but better highway manners will be great. The 690 is a fun bike but a highway cruiser it is not
Thanks Mike! I hear ya. They're both good bikes. Seems like more and more middle weights are becoming available. It is a big weight difference but if you're going to do a lot of highway to get where you want to go off road those two are much better on the highway. Really chilled down-to-earth review. Key points for me: the Air Hawk seat, the forward pegs, the cruise control and the 16 tooth front sprocket. The latter might possibly increase the longevity of the chain because the links take a slightly less acute excursion around the sprocket.
Really hard to beat that bike for versatility and practicality although I hear the new Tuareg's beginning to make some noise.

This is an awesome video - I've watched a few of yours now. Curious - can you put a link for the cheap cruise you got? I bought an Atlas last year for $180 and it has vanished - literally cannot find it anywhere in this house. I don't need anything crazy, but just would love to stretch my hand out every once in awhile.
Thanks for watching Eddy! If you go on to amazon and type "motorcycle cruise control throttle lock" you'll see a bunch of them. The one I got was "Go Cruise" for $19 but there is a lot more there than when I bought mine years ago. There' s some really cool inexpensive ones.

I got the 90 but it may have been a little overkill. I should of played more with the preload on the original but I'm still happy with it.

I’ve done the front sprocket change, the windshield upgrade (Puig) lowered it 20mm and the kickstand to match. I’m gonna do the Camel-Adv auxiliary fuel tank and the factory handbags as well. Air hawk is absolutely essential because the seat is a brick after an hour but other than that I have done several 750 mile days and no problems. The only thing I don’t like is how easily this bike is effected by sidewinds but that’s just because I was used to a Bagger. Oh yeah, I have the throttle lock as well. I’m Loving this T7.

I bought mine in June 20. It’s listed as a 2021. Make sure you stay on top of your dealer. I thought I had mine since I put down a $500 deposit in October 2019. Then got screwed with on the release of the first bikes and had to scramble to get mine. You’re gonna love it. It’s a great bike. Enjoy! Thanks for watching

Loved your review of the bike. It was very practical review. I wanted to know in your opinion how much weight someone needs to be able to lift in order to pickup this bike? I am considering this bike but I am afraid that I may not be able to pick it up if I dropped it off-road. I am 5'9" and weigh about 150lb. So assume there is no extra luggage or dead weight. Would you say anyone that can lift 120 lb can manage standing up this bike on their own?

I do the oil and filter every 4 but yes the next major service is in 8000 miles at 24k. That will be the 1st valve check. I’ll probably do the chain and sprockets at 20,000 miles. Thanks for watching!

You seem to have a lot of experience with the bike, and pretty well thought out opinions on it. I was however missing something that I am interested in, and I am curious about your thoughts.
How about using this bike for longer distance travel with a pillion? Would it still be a good fit for that, or would you think its better to get something 'heavier' (i.e. AT, tiger, 1200/1250gs etc).
From a comfort standpoint for the pillion I think something a little bigger might be better. It will handle a pillion just fine but just not as comfortably as a bigger bike like a GS or Africa Twin, Triumph 1200 or KTM 1290. If you're pillion is only on rare occasions no problem otherwise go bigger. Just my opinion, Thanks for watching!!

Hi Wood! Not sure what you mean by engine bar? I think you’re talking about about the crash bars. They’re from Touratech. A little pricey but really nice. If you’re talking about the skid plate/bash plate, that came from Touratech also but there are better ones out there. Thanks for watching!!
You can install horizontal rod in the engine (or engine guard) , and it also prevent the bike from falling flat on the ground.

Just ran across your channel , great info !! i have my big orange Adventure bike for sale now and one of these is on top of my list for replacement , i need to switch for a lighter (easier to handle off road) bike and a simpler so maybe i can do some of my own maintenance + more reliable & just lower overall running cost bike...

Off road is plenty of power. The only power on the highway I miss a little is doing a steady 80/85 mph. The T7 will do that but you're tacking pretty high.

Marvin, I'm not familiar with the maintenance schedule on the KTM but it's been way less expensive to maintain than my GS 1200 was. Easier to work on too.
Hi, in the manual stays that every 2000 km you have to renew the inner work from the calipers and change the the brake liquid,.and every 4000 km renew the brake cables..
That seems to me not low maintenance.
Never heard about that,.atleast at my last Honda bike.
And special yammie liquid oil (10w40)....

Hello, not sure what manual you are looking at but mine says check the brakes every 6,000 km and the brake fluid is to be changed every two years. You don't have to use yammie oil but they recommend their brand. Thanks for watching!!

Sorry, I've had it for more than 5 yrs and I don't remember the model. It was the least expensive one. It was about $100 US dollars. They had one with a heavy duty bladder for $200 but this one has been just fine. Thanks for watching and the question.

@@seisamigos397 Thanks, I have a deposit on that bike. Never had an Adventure bike so a little scared of it mass. Dirtbikes is what I have now. KTM's 300 2 stroke and a 450 XCW. Will be interesting to see how off roadable it is. Going for the heavier spring for sure, do it on all my bikes. Already bought my Giant loop tank bag and the Great Basin and Tillamook bags. Not have to wait for Yamaha to have the chips to make the bikes. Dealer said March.
