    I’ve had this bike for nearly a year. Fitted outback crash bars, outback skid plate, heated Yamaha grips fitted the correct way unlike the ones in this video the cable has to point downwards according to instructions & tuned to the correct cc for the bike for maximum heat , double take mirrors, sw motek snap on tank bag & a 30l rear bag along with bags to mount on the crash bars. Yamaha rear rack , Yamaha centre stand, headlight protector, powerbronze flip screen. The standard tyres are great in any condition. I came from a motocross background and this T7 is my first road bike. It’s fantastic. The breaks are good it handles well it carries luggage I’ve had the wife on the back of it & she was comfortable. I’ve done long road rides in 45mph winds with heavy heavy rain & used it all over the west of Scotland where I stay, on beaches & up forestry roads ect. I love it. It feels like it will start every time I put the key in with out failure. The fuel range is ok for me. Great bike and I would recommend to everyone JUST TO LET YOU ALL KNOW IVE TAKEN THE POWER BRONZE SCREEN OFF & FITTED A GIVI TALL SCREEN WITH THE WINGS. Now tested the givi it’s totally crap the screen sits in my line of sight I’m 6ft. You can only do 80mph with it on according to the stickers from givi that are in the screen it wobbles the front end in high wind. I’ve sold it and gone back to the powerbronze flip with the givi winglets works the best for me

      Couple of questions if I may?
      How are the double take mirrors? Do you get a good view with them?
      Can you have fun with it off-road or does the weight spoil things? I’m not thinking hard enduro, but a bit more challenging than a fire road.

    • @1jonblaze
      @1jonblaze 3 года назад +4

      @@Howling-Mad-Murdock hi murdock sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier I’ve only just had the bike back out for a ride. The double take mirrors are great really well made & half an inch wider then stock giving a better view. They fold up within seconds allowing off road riding a bit easier. If you drop the bike I think they would fold up instead of smashing the mirrors like I found out with the oem stock mirrors. As for the weight of the bike I find it fine I can pick it up quite easy. I’ve used the bike in deep sand on my local beaches & off road in forestry areas it’s well balanced at slow speeds and even better at high speeds. I’m 6ft tall & I don’t find it hard to use off road at all. It’s fantastic on road motorway speeds is easy for the 700cc twin smooth as butter. I can’t recommend it enough. I came from a motocross background riding a 125 Kawasaki kx & after that I had a Suzuki rmz450 as well as other bikes when I was young. The tenere is my first road bike so I didn’t have much road experience before the T7 but my off road background is fine. Hope this helps you make your mind up

      The trip didn't happen because the one in stock got sold. But, what the hell, I knew it was a good bike so I bought one anyway over the phone! I paid for it to be delivered, and it arrived bright an early at 07:30 in the morning on Thursday, 20/05/2021. A lovely Ceramic Blue one; it looked fantastic in the flesh rolling out of the back of the van. My first job after everything was sorted and paid for, was to give it a coat of ACF-50. Then I lubed the chain, I adjusted the handlebars, and checked the wheels, brakes and tyre pressures. The bike was now ready for the road; so the next day I checked the tyre pressures again to make sure they were still sound, and went out for the first time - in a storm! It was very wet and very windy, so I took it easy, had a great time, and tested my rain gear to the max. I absolutely loved riding the bike, I mean that CP2 engine. Plenty of low-down grunt, and what a sound, even with the stock exhaust on. It's a cracking machine, I'm so happy I bought one, it's definitely a keeper!

    Nicely done review. I've done a bit over 1k miles with the first 400mi on stock STR's and the rest on the Bridgestone AX41 Adventurecross. Loved the STR's on pavement including wet and great on dry/damp dirt roads but slimy dirt was a no go. The AX41's solved that and they've been great on pavement wet and dry. Not sure longevity will be one of their strengths but I'll take confidence inspiring performance every time.

    The XT660 is actually my 2nd favorite bike I have ever had. 1st is a S1000rr which I own for several past years. Yea I know, two different bikes.
    BUT, I am just waiting for Yamaha to release an upgraded version of 660 that is lighter (by at least 20kg), has the two brake discs as mentioned, single thumper with two exhausts (loved the visuals and sound of it), about 10-20bhp more, fully adjustable suspension systems, and retains handles on the tail to move it about. The T700 does so far look the closest to it, and I'd like to ask Ben if it has at least that sort of feel whilst riding the T700, or it doesn't.

    The bike is right at $10k OTD. You should have gone with Koso heated grips. Much better. Front forks always need a cheap upgrade. Progressive springs and 20w fork oil. I usually get a set of Chinese preload adjusters as well. I don't know why that isn't factory... On all budget bikes. I don't consider $10k budget. Those three things I mention cost a whopping $150.
    Luggage - I would go with the Hepco Becker C- Bow system. A lot less money. Sturdy. And a variety of bag choices. Or like most adventure riders, opt for soft luggage.
    Sorry, but for half the money you can get a Hymalayan OTD for about $5,500. It doesn't have a jerky throttle. It's down on HP, but it's got tractor torque for off-road, and that's all you need. It also has screw and locknut valve adjustment. It has a low 31.5" seat. That makes it immediately accessable to more riders. There's also a lowering kit, but isn't there a kit for just about any bike on the planet these days?
    I test rode the Tenere 700 about two weeks ago. The motor behaves just like any other in the MT lineup. Jerky. On/off. With the amount of front travel an adventure bike has, that makes for a bouncy ride.
    Again, my money would be spent on the Hymalayan, but I'm glad you liked the bike.

      Most riders won't need to do lots of mods to this bike, and there's not really many bikes that compare with it.
      You could get a KTM790 for the same price as a used T7 but you'd have to be mad to buy a ktm with no warranty.

    Regarding price. I saw it here in the street at the Yamaha dealer. I was a bit shocked at the high price. I had zero knowledge about this type of motorbike, but since I now live in Spain near amazing mountains, I went in to see this motorbike. I will buy it when I can find it for 5000 euro second hand.

    Why are people so fast to change front suspension but so slow to just space the springs and use thicker fork oil to achieve what they need in suspension? The bike is made to play with the front suspension and dial it in to what you want.

    small fuel tank. exhaust where it it sucks. that rack has to be outside of the exhaust and that too is dangerous. loop over seat bags would possibly be better. improvements are needed before i would bother touring my Country or the World on this bike.

    What I don't get with these long term tests is why change from standard for the suspension for instance? Why not review the bike based on how it came from the factory?

    • @motorcyclenewsdotcom
      @motorcyclenewsdotcom  3 года назад +1

      Obviously we start out with what came from the factory. A lot of Ténéré owners do upgrade their suspension though and so we think it's worth exploring what difference it makes. Like I said in the video, the stock suspension isn't bad it's just underdamped. It's also a little soft in its standard set up for a rider of my weight. Hope that makes sense and thanks for watching!

  • @sdefiel3719
    @sdefiel3719 3 года назад +3

    Actually, I actually enjoyed this actual video. It actually helped me decide if I actually should actually purchase an actual Ténéré. Actually, there was actually one thing that actually bothered me about this video, but actually I can't quite actually figure out what it actually was ... actually.

      I can't believe any bike in the world would survive being put away under cover for 2 months with winter salt not washed off. I've had loads of bikes even with the salt washed off after every ride it still takes a hit. And from what I've heard most mt-07 owners say the finish and the fastners are getting ruined from all year round riding. Even the new Africa twins were getting rusting spokes on the wheels

  • @robinjameshartley7673

    Heated grips shouldn't cost more than £40. You got ripped right off there. Also, your fuel range is a good 50 miles below what others owners are reporting. on the Tenere700 forum there seems to be a consensus of 50+mpg and a good 200 miles range.

    I ride a ‘09 KTM 990 Adventure. The bike is getting a bit tired and age starts to show. Every time i ride it it delivers a massive smile on my face. It’s a bit expensive to run, service is not cheap and only 7500 km apart but man it’s fun to ride. I’m looking for a replacement and this T 700 starts to show up. It looks like a reliable and affordable daily driver bike. I’m only afraid that it lacks the fun factor that my KTM has. New KTM 790 and 890 are to expensive and lack reliability.
    Anybody here who have ridden both the 990 Adventure and the T700 and was in the same doubt as I am with replacing the KTM? I really would like to know how fun it is to ride long term if you’re used to a 950/990?

    Why have you got symmetrical outback Mototrek pannier frames, yet use asymmetrical kriega bags? There are asymmetrical (narrower) panniers frames from OM that are more suited to the kriega you have.

    How does this bike handle in the corners? On pavement. Obviously tires make a difference. I ride a vstrom 650 and I'm not happy with it off-road. I'm perfectly happy with it on-road though. I want to have fun on both. Was hoping this would be the bike. Anyone care to comment?

    • @HRRRRRDRRRRR
      @HRRRRRDRRRRR Год назад

      Depends on your tires, and how fast you're going. But fine. It's a tall, top-heavy bike so you can't really throw around.
      You need good balance if you're doing any low-speed manoeuvring though, because it *will* drag itself to the ground otherwise.

    I think crept up slightly is is bit of an understatement. An £800 / 10% increase in a year is extortionate and the reason why new bike prices are way out of reach for most people to actually buy outright. I think British journos should take a leaf out of American journalists book and be much more critical of prices and price hikes rather than just pandering to the manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers who are simply taking the mickey and getting away with it too.
