Honestly I just think it’s weird that was willing to lose a friend over this word. I mean he can do as he pleases but imo, it’s kinda odd to use racial slurs as jokes (maybe I’m just not edgy enough) it’s also weird to sacrifice a friendship for the sake of those words. I don’t really even think that if he stopped using the n word for the sake of his friendship with Trihex that it would compromise his principles. You can still believe that’s it’s okay to say whatever you want behind closed doors while actively choosing not to use certain words for the sake of your friends feelings. Maybe I don’t really understand destinys argument but this just seems more like someone being stubborn rather than having a principle worth standing for.
your third sentence is clearly where you don't understand. His point is he can say what he wants in private because he knows that he and the person he shares it with are only doing it for humor and not racism. If he chose not to do it in private then it would be against his moral compass and he values morals over friends.
Josh Moyes no I understand that point completely. My point is that, you can hold to the moral that you can say whatever you want privately while still refraining from using certain language. Aside from that, this isn’t even a super strong moral imo. It’s not like he’s saying “ murdering gays is unacceptable” and Trihex is asking him to kill gays. It’s not an all or nothing moral I guess. It’s like believing in the 2nd amendment right to bare arms. You can believe and fully support that amendment without actually desiring or ever owning a gun. You can believe in the right to have equal rights and same sex marriage without actually entering into a homosexual relationship first. You don’t have to actively be involved in something to support it. You can believe in the right to say what you want privately without actually using derogatory language privately. I’ll say that for the most part I agree with destiny. I don’t think one should police someone’s private speech, but I also don’t use like, Asian slurs even in a joking manner in private speech out of respect for my friends that are Asian, even if they aren’t around. I also just think it’s weird to do so and in general just kinda fucked up/two faced. I don’t think the use of derogatory language and explaining sex acts to a dad are a 1 on 1 comparison. You expect your child to potentially be in a sexual relationship you just don’t want to hear the details. I don’t think one expects their friends to be using defamatory towards their people behind their backs. That isn’t a really big deal for me but just something I noticed. Either way to weird to value such a minor point of “morality” over friends who care. I mean if you called your wife a bitch privately to your friends as a replacement for her real name with no real malice and she found out about it and asked you to stop, would you then divorce her because of your morals? I don’t think this is really a moral issue tbh. I think it’s a stubborn issue for destiny and he’s the type of dude to double down and burn the world instead of switch positions for something like this.
Wyatt ultimately I think it’s just a difference in personalities. I’m similar to destiny in that way, I’m honest to a fault, and pretty blunt. I think being honest like that is more moral then to lie about it to conform to a social norm. It’s why blunt people often rub off the wrong way with a lot of people, because they don’t filter their views so much and it’s off putting for a lot of people. It’s hard for a lot of people to be friends with blunt people
@@subzoronltd7779 But this isn't the same as being bluntly honest or being morally dishonest. This just isn't as black and white as he's making it seem imo. I get however, that he may feel like, if he claims this stance but then ceases to say those words because of Trihex he may think that he's being a hypocrite, but he wouldn't be. Maybe you're right though, difference of perspective between him and I. I guess our brains just work differently.
Wyatt if you’re so spineless that you bend over for a friends request on something that your friend literally NEVER has to experience (destiny saying edgy jokes) then those people you call friends are likely just taking advantage of you.
Also your framing is incredibly odd, should it be “it’s so sad trihex is willing to sacrifice his friendship over jokes he isn’t told, nor are about him”
>Destiny refuses to apologize
>Says he'll continue to say the N word
>Calls the basketball american uneducated as they typically are
*He's our guy*
