Primitivity PLAYS MEGADETH FOR CELLO salutes the state-of-the-art metal band Megadeth by reinventing eight passionate tracks through the intense and beautiful sound of the cello. The album resurrects such Megadeth classics as Symphony of Destruction and Train of Consequences and redefines them for cello. Thick power chords resonate through the opening of Skin O My Teeth, and lush harmonies permeate the choruses of Addicted to Chaos and À Tout Le Monde. Speeding riffs and blistering solos reign during Hangar 18, and deep emotions are summoned during Foreclosure of a Dream. Arranged, recorded and performed solely by cellist Loren Westbrook-Fritts, Primitivity PLAYS MEGADETH FOR CELLO is passionately driven and uncompromising in its intentions to bring to life the music of Megadeth through the unique voice of the cello.
PRIMITIVITY is a cello and percussion ensemble from Washington DC that blends elements of classical and heavy metal music into a new genre called cello rock. Cellist Loren Westbrook-Fritts composes the music and provides the leads, while cellists David Teie of the National Symphony, Kristin Ostling of the Baltimore Symphony, and Mauricio Betanzo of the Maryland Symphony all shred out intense riffs and harmonies. Percussionist Robby Burns from the University of Maryland completes the band with rumbling drum hits. Specializing in the music of Megadeth, Apocalyptica, and Metallica, Primitivity performs its own original compositions in an undeniably unique concert program. As Primitivity blends refined classical approaches and the new sounds of heavy metal, it ensures that rock cello thrives forever.

A cover of Set the World Afire for full orchestra would make my life! I imagine brass doing the vocal melody and strings doing the guitar parts with of course cello for the bass and all kinds of percussion. Now, if only I had an orchestra and one ounce of musical talent...
I was expecting the outro of the original extended version that Dave wrote. It was amazing to hear the complete version on your album guys, outstanding tribute record 👏 🎻🎸!

@Megadeth4242 most symphonies tend to play music with songs around 20 minutes long, and for hours at a time, the music also tends to be alot more complex, they are also generally playing from memory as they have to be paying attention to the instruments around them and most of all to the conductor up infront of them

This song is one of my favs. I've played it on the electric guitar. I'm super impressed that you guys did this song, but for me...I'd probably beat the shit outta those Cellos just cause this song pumps me up so much. Thx tho. I could probably slip this version past my parents, my dad being an 81 yr old retired pastor! HA! But if he saw the cover from this cd, he'd dam us all to hell, or if I told him the original band was Megadeth, he wldn't even listen to it. Food for thought, I think I'll pull this up for him and c what his reaction is, then show and play the original!!! lol

Some of the individual pitches seem close but not exact to the original, which sounds funny with a strong background in the studio version. But it sounds awesome all the same.
In general, some of the ending notes on the phrases with the "vocals" instrument seemed sharper than they should be, when I expected them to be a little more flat.

Soy un guitarrista joven, no estudiado de musica, aprendi solo y sigo avanzando solo, se tocar esa canción muy bien y es de mis favoritas, Y algo que aun no entiendo de los sinfónicos es ¿Que carajos leen en las partituras?, entiendo otras canciones pero esa canción de metal tan corta por cierto hasta yo me la se al revés y al derecho. es imposible que ellos necesiten leerla de verdad.

hey primitivity, you guys have some awesome music, not quite at the same level as apocalyptica, but definately worth a listen, just a word of advice, dont use youtube to host videos for your site, the watermark isnt nice to see pop up, and with your embedded version there is no HD option or full screen! you should try out blip.tv for hosting, you can get a professional looking embed and it features HD better than youtube
