It’s not too bad, I retired a few years ago so out of the loop now but not many would not do what you do now, too much hard work and most are only interested in getting the numbers down.
Good days graft 👍 I would have put a plank across several joists under that acros. Why go to the effort of steels to support the remaining chimney stack, the house has been ripped back just remove the whole stack. Or is there a party/neighbour issue (they still using their half)?
great work Izzy, never seen those type of chimneys before... always been in places with fires upstairs and downstairs and therefore wider brests on the first floor... are you removing the rest in the loft? i guess not because of the steels but as there's only a third of the house actually left now I wonder why you wouldn't just take them out in the loft and the stack on the roof... that's a LOT of work in a day, congratulations
Hiya mate, I've seen those chimneys too, right big things aren't they! Well today I found out that were having a doormer and a gable (it's currently a hipped roof) so the rest of the chimney up stairs needs to come down. The steels going in place mentioned in this video are to support the new floor upstairs and brace the wall.
@@IzzytheBricky yeah massive, i hate to think how many bricks would be in those double chimneys... best of luck with the further work... looks like a big (and growing!) job.
hi Izzy i was a general builder for 38 years, I found it to be a far more rewarding trade than just sticking with one discipline. How are you finding the change from just bricklaying? P S always been a big fan
Thanks so much for watching mate and appreciate your comment! 38 years in the game, any advice/info is always welcome from you Peter! I enjoy it mate as it's something a bit different each time. Been doing extensions for about 4/5 years now (before that one off luxurious new builds) and I do enjoy transforming older properties and the problem solving... although sometimes it's nice just to get on a line and all you have to do is remember your ties every 450😂
Gwon Isaac just going through your videos mate it’s been a while hope your well bro? I’m stacked on driveways at the minute mate I like to swop and change mate getting stuck into abit of demo and putting steels in! Get fed up of laying bricks everyday. Take it easy brother 👍
I'll have got that drill.. In your previous video, I have the same post spade as you,iys just a shame i have not got your skill and knowledge HAHAHAH...As a great tool to shave clay soil... I find.. Your work efic is second to none.for real !!!
Always enjoy watching your Videos man been busy don't get to watch as much as I use to man but really enjoy them when I can are you still working for yourself? Have a awesome day man keep them bricks to the linne🧱🧱🧱
James! Great to see you back and watching when you get chance, appreciate it! I stopped working for myself this January, as it got very tiresome. Hope yourself and the family are well
I agree the masks are pure quality! Best I’ve used too, worth the money to save your health. I’ve taken chimneys down in the past fu@k@ng hard work! Shuttering should be fine if it’s thick/deep enough to form a padstone save all the digging unless he’d be worried about it sinking?!
Brickies not working in that downpour mate but you were, as a builder, or should I say a demolition man! LOL Well done mate great days work. Well done.
@@leedooner3715 or course they will! That post will be taking weight and structural! If u just do an above ground pad it can crack/ move etc! And the post could drop! Hence we have to dig footings to good ground for movement reasons
Cheers mate! From a logical stand point, my thought seemed the easiest way. But your right, from a structural point of view, obviously not the best! Appreciate the comment mate
Izzy thinks he can make a concrete pad stone above existing brickwork walls on backfilled ground under a dried out old ash sut chimney wall 😂😂😂😂 best speak to the inspector first kid
I thought it would be such an easy solution to a real hard dig. 600x750mm concrete pad would be sound. But after seeing a few more comments, the easy way (which from a logical point of view) isn't always the correct way 😊 Appreciate the comment brother
You are a machine Izzy a true honest days work. Brilliant video well done
Thanks mate appreciate it! Hope your well!
Great job Izzy, wish I had your energy.great point about wearing a mask 😷
Thanks very much mate!
Great work ethic lad. Your parents must be really proud of you.
Thanks Tony!😊
I love when young fella’s say …*back in the day*!
My God what a great grafter
I take the bottom of the stack in each room first. Still supported off the main wall. Gravity works for you then. Easier than starting at the top
Huge thumbs up Sir !
Thank you Michael!
Pleasure to watch professional with who takes real pride in what they do . Inspirational. 👏
@@brypow1497 thanks brother
You’re a real grafter Izzy
in 8 hrs, hmm 10 cups of tea, 2 sausage rolls and a doughnut?😂
Hahaha
Double that!!
Nice surprise on a Wednesday
Loving the content mate 🤟🏻
Cheers mate, thanks for the kind words !
Should really take chimney stacks out all the way out to the roof if they are not visible from the front.
Think it's eventually all coming out 😊

Loving the videos 👍
You're spoiling us - 2 videos in a week. You & Kyle did fantastic in 8 hours! Impressed that after all this, you go to the gym as well. 😊 👍
Haha appreciate it mate, glad you enjoyed the video!
Man I wish every builder had your work ethic, here in Oz you get 2 drops of rain and most are gone…..
I used to be the same mate! How is everything over there regarding brickwork in Oz?
