Nice job Izzy and a good days graft. For me the brickwork over the lintels needs to be laid over two days to avoid issues associated with shrinkage of the wet mortar; 1st day all the new brickwork is laid and left to set, then the following day the bed joint between the new and existing brickwork is dry packed. Its also good practice that the feet of the stanchions are typically set 20mm above foundation level, the void filled in with non-shrinkable grout to ensure full transfer of loading to the foundation.
I always extend Genies fully before loading them. Then lower them and guide the cable onto the spool in two neat non-tangled layers. Saves stress in the heat of the job, especially if you are taking out old steels or cast in situ concrete lintels. The upright steels should be held off the concrete slightly (nuts under the base). Make a small timber form around the baseplate and flood it with Weber 5 star machine grout once everything is plumb and level. You coped well with a horrible site. I would sit those Genies on some 18mm ply to spread the load on a potentially dodgy timber floor too.👍
Love these true to life video's, where it shows the kind of shit most ofus have to put up with in a days work rather than the perfect scenarios that most construction videos try to pretend is real life!
It didnt fall down, you gained invaluable experience, word will get around regarding your capabilities….hope you made a reasonable profit…well impressed…gutsy!🏴👍
I personally would have had the long horizontal beams resting on top of the 2 upright beams and bolted in rather than bolted inside the uprights , I just think it’s a stronger configuration , great work getting them in , tough days work .
@@karl212absolutely right, we done a job very similar to this earlier this year, we said exactly the same thing, surely be stronger the horizontal beam resting on the uprights but our structural engineer designed it exactly the same way, we also had a ground beam so it looked like a huge rectangle
It's a good job the neighbour allowed you on to their property to get the long steels in place. I couldn't see any bolts joining the steels to each other? It's always disappointing when there is a bulkhead/steel in the ceiling, I'm sure there are ways of designing it flush. Great work though 👍
Morning from California. Retired Englishman here 49 years in construction. Enjoy your vlog. Reminds me of when I actually worked hard. But some observations. Here in California we are required to put expansive high strength grout under the steel column base plates. I was also surprised to see you drilling in anchors? Wouldn’t it be better to use longer J bolts cast into the concrete? Anyway forgive the criticism of an old man. Be well Bernie
Great job with the steels considering the size of them. surprised not to see a couple of tie bolts between the inner and out horizontal steels and vertical stanchions. Any reason why they weren't used?
What did you mean sorry when speaking about having to have a bulkhead? Could you not place the beam higher into the upstairs floor to avoid the bulkhead(s)?
Nice one mate, well executed 👌, I was on a job today similar and the header which was shorter than yours weighed 900kg and somehow they got it up with no genies 🤔
didn't you get the Evolution circular saw ages ago? Do you not still use it? I noticed you had the Stihl saw today. Nice job as always by the way! I do love those needles.
I could not have done better myself. Arhh harhhh... I fitted hand rails for my inlaws using that resin. Wow, it dried quickly.i put the nuts on first before hammering. Damaged threads.a bugger to shape to get nut on. Keep it up, please, a joy to watch.
Not enough can be said about PPE it doesn't take much to fuck up your eyes and all of the rest you seem lax in, you would be off any site over here mate!
I can't see how it's worth it, surely it'll be cheaper to move house, the area doesn't look affluent enough going off what can be seen, I must have it all wrong 🤔👍

No wonder you’ve gone to work for someone else , our games going down hill rapidly with all the regulation changes. We’ve got 150 cavities in brum now insulation sizes keep getting bigger and bigger. Soon our bloody mattresses for our beds will be made out of kingspan , the building game has gone shit. As has our country with all the imigrants coming in . Sorry for the rant but I’m just getting fed up! .

Another well documented and explained video Izzy. Thanks for taking the time to video and explain. You are a great team
loving your new videos, you seem much happier

Well done Izzy
A very complicated job professionally completed
Credit to you and the team for this big achievement 👏

Watching bricklaying is interesting but after quite a few of your general construction videos I’m enjoying the diversity more, nice job mate!
Another great video Izzy, with you and the boys, showing diverse work skills. That pint was definitely well earned! 😊 👍
Izzy and team absolutely awesome job…. Awesome 🔨⚒️🍺🎉👍🫵🏻
Great job by a great team of builders....nice one matey.
you must be so pleased with the progress you have made.. it look sstunning
Great job Izzy and guys, coming on nicely. Stay well.
Great work done properly and with pride 💪💪💪
I’m not in the trade but have picked up lots of interesting info and some knowledge applicable to DIY. Cheers

Thats up to the Structural engineer isn't
Its not stronger ...common sense tells you to put it on top of the others ...but its all about deflection....
I agree as all the weight is on the bolts

loved the front door thing lol .... its a good habit to keep ..... nice work ....

We'll done the boys on that job keep up the good work izzy and the boys
Excellent work as always, crackin' on like no tomorrow
I personally pack the brickwork about 2 days after laid up to the last horizontal mortar joint...and pack tight with Welsh slate and mortar point in
Brilliant work

You are supposed to grout with cebex and mortar mix! With bolts resined in with kemfix
Great job
Great team of lads there getting stuck in about it.
Awesome work 👌🏻
Don't really know know why we lock the front door 😂, brilliant!!
Great job lads.
I don't know but would it not have been cheaper and quicker to knock the house down an start front scratch?
Nice job
Very good work.
What no rain, what an easy day, no really lads nice safe job, brill
Great job with the steels considering the size of them. surprised not to see a couple of tie bolts between the inner and out horizontal steels and vertical stanchions. Any reason why they weren't used?
Bet your glad the steels are in good work
Lots of progress very quickly Izzy 👍👍. Do the foundation blocks get tied to the vertical steels?
Thanks for the bank transfer Izzy, I will enjoy a couple of drinks, keep up the amazing work
So GOOD !
How did you manage to drill the back holes for the goal posts. Wasn’t the first post in the way?
There is a God…Izzy is going grey!😅😅😅
What did you mean sorry when speaking about having to have a bulkhead? Could you not place the beam higher into the upstairs floor to avoid the bulkhead(s)?
Anyone else hate winding up genie lifts😫
PROPER JOB!
Amazing videos thank you
Smart job

love your videos Izzy. Why don't you paint the steels 😎

Huge steels, I’ve had more steel in my eye! My mate said this when we were working on the Humber bridge in 1976. lol.
Didn’t realise you can have a steel exposed. What’s the fire rating
Eyup izzy whats reason for concreteting the oversite never seen that done in my life with it being a joist or beam floor?
nice bit of iron going in there izzy ....
The only thing missing is hard hats.benny hats won’t
protect you.
I see no hard hats being worn heath and safety wood have field day with you lot
You boys are good..✌️🧱👏👊🍻🏴

Nice 1. 👍
Lovely old job
He won't be able to have bear steel on show as it's supporting a floor it will need to be half hour fire protected.
You cannot have steels exposed they will need fire proofing with cladding or intumescent paint
What happened to Drew? Hope he is doing well
Would it not of been better for the steals to be sitting on top of the up rights instead of bolting to the sides
Think youd need more stiffener plates at the supports - more steel

Just out of interest what do brickies charge in 2024
