Other ideas I’ve come up with after watching the video: 1. Crochet chess set, or even just making a portable chess board out of crochet and a bag to put pieces in. 2. Crocheting a stuffed animal or sweater, hat, etc with your male person’s favorite animal on it. 3. Pot holders or pan handle covers etc. if he likes to cook or grill. 4. Keychain for his keys 5. Possibly car head rest/steering wheel covers. Might be too feminine for him idk. 6. Crochet backpack or other “masculine” bags. 7. Sunglasses holder 8. Belt 9. The classic winter items, hats, gloves, scarf, etc. 10. Perhaps a basket for putting dirty laundry or other random items into. If he’s in college you could use plarn (plastic yarn) to make a shower caddy. 11. Dish/hand towels if he’s moving into a new place soon. 12. If he has long hair you could make him a scrunchy. 13. Crochet shoes laces 14. Make him a crochet chalk bag if he’s into rock climbing 15. If he travels or hikes a lot small bags for putting various items into could be a good idea although I’d suggest a stronger yarn because they’d probably go through a lot of damage. That’s about all I could think of
DOING THE MOST. I've done searches for masculine patterns myself and I FEEL YOU, they are HARD to come by! so very much kudos to you for this vid. Your work is seen and appreciated!
Thank you so much for this one! While I strongly believe anyone can use/wear whatever they want regardless of their gender, I'm also a trans guy who struggles to pass in public, so looking masculine is important to me. I've recently started to crochet and I want to make myself more clothes, but its been hard to find stuff that fits my style.
I couldn't agree more on any pattern being adaptable for the men in your lives. Beanies, scarves, sweaters, coasters, blankets, backpacks, messenger bags, christmas ornaments, and pouches (especially if they're nerdy and collect D&D dice) all make great gifts for men. Just change the yarn colors for some of their favorite colors.
Thanks for doing men’s patterns. You’re right there is nothing out there for men. I need masculine men’s patterns. Dying to watch this. Wow ! 50 patterns impressive I’ve looked they are hard to find. ❤😊
thank you so much for this video! it’s true that clothes don’t have gender and everyone can wear whatever they want but finding masculine crochet patterns is HARD- i tried to find patterns so i can make clothes to myself but it’s often tops that are considered very feminine and this video really helps
@@Chicken_witch just say YOU don’t want to see that. i’d love to see a man walking around in a crochet skirt, even better if he did it himself. you should really focus on yourself more if you are so pressed about some random stranger walking in clothes they like
Thanks for your work, I love your content ! Also you don't have to apologize for the lack of patterns or anything, your researchs already help us so much
I understand your issues with finding ‘mens’ crochet stuff bc the amount of times that I’ve wanted to crochet clothes but I’m trans masc, it’s really hard to find stuff so thank you for these inspirations (the more fem stuff always look better tho and are so much more colourful so I just make them for my friends hehe)
I doubt you made this video as a comedy, but your underlying frustration had me in stitches! Probably the best laugh I had today. You did a great job trying to please your viewers
This helps so much! I was trying to find something to crochet for my dad. Right now I plan to turn one of my late grandfather’s shirts into a teddy bear for him and my grandmother. Now I can crochet something for him as well
Eeeeee🤸🏾♀️😅 I’ve been wanting to crochet a gift for my husband for so long!!! Can’t waitttt (I’ve stuck to making him wallets because idk what else to make lol)
Cheers for the vid, Yarnie. Proper inspiring stuff. It’s all about the colours, not just the crochet. I’m a androgynous Dude From UK who crochets, sticking to my own templates for garment making. After a 10&1000hour hunt for menswear, I just decided to create my own. Buzzing with inspiration! 2:05
Thank YOU so much for the beginning bit of your video! Any pattern can be made to suit any person! At the end of the day it completely depends on the person you are crocheting for and their style, color preferences, and so on!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I am nb afab, and while i firmly believe that anyone can wear any clothes they want, wearing clothes that were "made for women" tends to make me dysphoric, and that applies to the clothes i crochet even if I'M THE ONE WHO CROCHETED IT, i know it's stupid, it makes me frustrated to no end trust me, but having a compiled list of "mens' clothes" patterns will be really helpful! Thank you for making this video
I'm a nonbinary person and i actually appreciate this bc wearing feminine stuff makes me super dysphoric unfortunately. Like yeah, you shouldn't like, lose your mind over gender and masculinity like some cis men do! But some people's styles are masculine and that's nothing wrong.
Thank you so much for this great compilation. Just as with so many of the comments here, it is Very difficult to find anything that caters for men. I also agree with how many scarves, beanies etc can one man have/ want? I teach dressmaking and other crafts and on principal, stopped buying any craft magazines Sew/ Knit/ Crochet etc as there is nothing in them for men. The amount of male 'crafters' and makers has exploded recently and yet the industry (fashion) hasn't kept pace and we are left trawling around the same old, tired 'grandad' patterns. I came across the Hexagon shirt on RUclips and have started that which does give lots of style opportunities but come on all you pattern writers out there - we make and want to wear fashionable and stylish stuff too! IJS
i think the beard beanie idea is such a funny gift for someone that doesn't have a beard. My brother does not have a beard and its an inside joke we have about it, definitely gonna make that lol
"men like to go to the lake right?" lmfao you are so funny lol thank you for this video! I've tried so many times to find other things to crochet for my partner cause how many beanies can one man have right but it's almost impossible like you said. This has some really good options tho
Thank you for this video! Im non-binary transmasc - part of why I’m so excited as a beginner in crochet is the idea that I could make clothes that I don’t feel dysphoric in, and those tend to be clothes that are traditionally seen as masc-leaning or unisex. I absolutely agree that clothes can be worn by anyone, but clothes are also a really personal part of gender expression, so I’ll jump at the chance to make something that I’ll feel like myself in.
1:15 I wish people would understand that _gender is not clothing_ ! As a trans-masc guy, I didn’t stop feeling good about how I look in a dress when I came to terms with the fact that I prefer he/him pronouns! And yet, I still ended up here, because I need a break from "femininity" sometimes, and i still don't know how to style "feminine" clothes in a way that won't get me labeled "she/her"
Hi! I'm a trans man, and I've been out for so long and give so few shits, that I basically wear what I want. I don't care anymore. People are gonna judge anyway, people are always perceiving me and as long as I'M Happy with what I wear, pff, who cares yk. However! I really loved this video!! My father is very masculine and despite not being insecure at all, he would probably never wear anything... idk, pink, or with floral patterns or smth. :D So yeah! People are different! I learned how to crochet when i was young, like 30 years ago... i was 4 or 5... but first thing i crochet in my adult years was an "elephant with a big trunk" a christmas gift for my husband to wear... twas a banana hammock inside joke between us and we used to do joke-y funny weird gifts like that
the vintage ones look so nice! personally i have very few men in my life and a crochet gift i'm currently making for a man (a priest actually) is a filet crochet cloth depicting the sacred heart of jesus. he can do whatever he wants with it
I feel like a lot of men don't not think men can wear anything, but like myself just don't like wearing more traditionally feminine clothes like skirts, short shorts, and halter tops
I agree about the what it is to be a man thing, clothes and things do not have gender. It doesn't matter, see something someone you care for might like? Make it fit and colour appropriate, job done. It is nearly Christmas and I am watching all the gift idea videos I can find.
Someone give this girl a job as a host! I think I enjoyed her commentary, jokes and energy more than any of the patterns 😅 “I don’t hang out with men” lmfaooo 😂
Also... i did something similar to the pizza ones for Father's day one year, because my husband and i met when we were both manager's at different Donato's... my store closed and i was transferred to his store... So the pizza slices on our kids was cute to me because of that
You seem to be a little disheartened with the theme of this video and I totally understand how you feel about the stereotypical stuff. That's why I wanted to let you know I still watched it to find new additions to my who-cares-about-gender-I-wear-what-I-like agender wardrobe. I don't like the typical agender or enby themed lists, because they all feature mostly shapeless beige and grey shirts, pants, everything. Instead of that, your picks for "stereotypical male" were as fun as they get, I especially loved the green vintage granny square sweater, the stash buster and the beige top, though I would make the last one in a dark red or something.
Thank you for this video ! With my dads birthday coming up, these ideas really help me :) Can you make a video on ideas for what to make out of yarn cakes/ color changing yarn?
I have a lot of half-used yarn balls laying around and I struggle to do something with them, I don't necessarily want to buy more yarn of the same color just to be able to use it up! So I was wondering if could you do a video with crochet ideas and patterns on what to do with scrap yarn?! Either small projects where you need a small amount of yarn or whole scrap yarn projects where you use the scraps to make something bigger.
If you could make one of these about granny squares? I’ve been looking for original designs so I can make a massive blanket with just all these little pieces of art and I’d love to hear your inspo!!
Great video, as always!!✨ I literally love every video in this series💖 If you want to see what crocheting by a man can really look like then i recommend to see a work by Henri Purnell. There are the colors and patterns you are looking for! 😊
Just keep doing what you do and enjoy it. Don't let anyone try to force you into catering to their specific needs. You don't work for anyone. You make great videos. Don't apologize to anyone. I hated seeing the uncomfortable look on your face during this introduction of your video and I could feel the stress that it caused you. I suggest to the people who are looking for men's patterns, that they ask nicely for a specific item(s) or do what you suggested and learn how to use their creativity to make their own unique designs. It could open up something great for them. God Bless!
It's so true that there's barely any men's crochet projects. That black mesh polo shirt is what I've been eyeing on making as well, and fortunetly, I found some vids that could help on making the polo shirt, but they're in Spaniish if I'm not mistaken. Lmk if anyone wants it so I could link it down somewhere!
This video was actually so funny to watch. I loved it. I know you say it isn’t one of your best videos, but it really is so good. But I agree that people looking for things “for men” is so ridiculous. Like beanies, sweaters, cardigans, organizers, cozies, coasters, desk mats, etc. Anything can be “for men.” 🤦
Hey ik that u alr made a pet crochet tutorial but could you just make a dog one? Like sweaters, harnesses, leashes, toys, and is more stuff. But thanks you're my fav crochet idea person😁😁😁😁😁
You should make a tv show/ movie reference video. Like I’ve been wanting to make the Coraline squid doll or even Ron Weasley’s mom’s shirt from Harry Potter. Stuff like that 🤷♀️🙂
I’m obsessed with vintage crafting books/magazines and there’s heaps that I have with crochet/knit patterns for men. You have to look around the 70’s but I get my books from Etsy so if you’re after patterns that say men look there. Otherwise just adapt women’s basic patterns
It's so silly how men need men things. I am a man person but like I really enjoy all your videos and make a lot of the things you put on your channel regardless of the gender of the model! I appreciate your disclaimer at the beginning :)
I'm crocheting an electric guitar for my dad!
OMG WHAT PATTERN ARE YOU USING I WANNA MAKE ONE FOR MY BOTHER

Other ideas I’ve come up with after watching the video:
1. Crochet chess set, or even just making a portable chess board out of crochet and a bag to put pieces in.

Lmk if anyone wants it so I could link it down somewhere!
I’m super late, but yes please I would love a link or the name of who made videos on the black mesh polo (if you can find the videos)!!
Stuff like that 🤷♀️🙂
Or I just saw a Pinterest post of this girl character from Austin Powers, her dress looks crocheted 😮
Your reactions are such a mood 🤣
I don't have a lot of men in my life, I'm just a little tired of like tight/short/revealing tops I find for women
i feel you on that
I’m obsessed with vintage crafting books/magazines and there’s heaps that I have with crochet/knit patterns for men.
