Man Kevin Peter Hall played an iconic role as the Predator. To this day it is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Sad he died so soon. His wife died recently too. RIP.
I agree. His movement and style was very intimidating. He knew what he was doing. Also his and Arnold's enthusiasm of making this movie was the main reason of it's success.
agree when Kevin came out of the water and looked towards Arnold that scared the hell out of me then with him running down the river bank was terrifying to say the least Kevin made The Predator the same as Arnold made the Terminator..... terrifying. Kevin used ballarina dance moves/martial art moves to bring the monster to life. Imagine getting into a Fight with Kevin 7' 2 " and he was a martial arts expert imagine the reach that guy would have.
Never seen Kevin Peter Hall without his Predator suit wow such a nice guy he was! You can clearly see it in his eyes and his smile! Wise, friendly and kind person! Rest In Peace Kevin!
@@pulse4503 He died from AIDS related pneumonia. He contracted HIV while working on Harry and the Hendersons. That really sucks. Honestly I never even knew that he had died and to die like that is bullshit. I think his portrayal of the Predator is one of the best “monsters” (even though he’s not really a monster...just an alien on safari) in history. Predator isn’t going to win any awards or anything, but it’s one of the most fun movies to watch. The best Special Forces (I think they were Deltas) team member up against an alien in basically hand to hand combat. That’s da bomb! 😀
My dad was an ER nurse for twenty years. It was sometime in 1991, or 1992 when he was working a late shift, and this tall man came in with heart trouble. My dad was the one who got to treat this man. My dad is a tall man 6'9, but it's always exciting for him to meet people who are taller than he is. Anyways this man comes in and my dad talks with him while he's listening to his heart, and taking his pulse. He asks the man: "So are you a basketball player?" You know because he's very tall and he's black as well so he fits the profile of an NBA basketball player. This man laughs and goes: "No, I'm an actor." My dad then goes: "Wow really? If you don't mind me asking what movies have you been in?" The man goes: "I was in an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie called Predator." My dad saw the movie and loved it, and goes: "You were? Which character were you?" because my dad didn't recognize him from the movie. The man then laughs and goes: "I was the Predator" Such a cool story. I always laugh about it. I loved the Predator movies Kevin Peter Hall starred in. I also loved Harry and the Henderson's. Whenever my dad watches those, he likes to talk about what a warm and down to earth person Kevin Peter Hall was. I collect autographs as a hobby. So far I've managed to get autographs from various celebrities like Sarah Douglas who played Ursa in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, Hayley Mills, Molly Quinn who plays Castle's daughter, Samantha Bond who was Moneypenny in the Pierce Brosnan James Bond's and John Hurt. There are lots of people who I wish I could've gotten an autograph from like Christopher Reeve, Dominique Dunne, Dennis Weaver, Patrick Swayze, Alec Guinness, Kenny Baker, and Kevin Peter Hall.
Just so that Kevin Peter Hall's true contribution to the movie doesn't go fully unnoticed, the director did give him a chance to star in it sans the Predator's costume. He was the chopper pilot who comes to rescue Dutch in the end. In effect therefore, Kevin Peter Hall played a double role in the movie - the chief antagonist of sorts and a cameo. I don't know too many people who might have had that opportunity in their acting careers.
Just learning about Kevin Peter Hall, so I was looking for interviews. What an amazing person. Totally horrified by what happened to him- what an unbelievable tragedy. He would still be with us today, probably still working, had it not been for whichever irresponsible people were involved with his blood transfusions. It’s a difficult story to try to accept. All the best to his surviving relatives.
It's very unlikely he got it through a transfusion, as the blood supply was almost totally protected after 1985. He may have wanted to say that for public relations purposes, but it would've been a bigger scandal and easily led to a lawsuit if it happened that many years after HIV was well-known.
Man, is sad that Kevin didn't live any more longer, I wanted to see him in another predator movie, he played predator so great on both films, must feel so great to play as creature in a film then became to one of the most iconic creatures ever. RIP.
Kevin was also in Predator 2. In a way although released in 1990, it was then set in the future, in Los Angeles in 1997. I think this was so that it would come a decade after the events of Predator, released back in 1987. Brilliant tag line for the sequel too: He’s in town with a few days to kill.
This guy died because of a HIV-tainted blood transfusion. 30 years later and I'm still pissed about it. A completely avoidable death. RIP Kevin Peter Hall, the original Predator.
@@taegotkash It's unlikely that's how it happened. A 1990 L.A. Times article says only 12 cases of HIV through a blood transfusion happened in the prior 5 years. His wife also apparently didn't give a clear denial when asked in an interview about whether he was sexually active with other men. The blood transfusion story was probably just put out there because he didn't want his sexual preferences to be public.
Kevin Peter Hall actually co-stars in two of my favourite movies of all time. Predator and Harry and the Hendersons. Two very different type of movies. Both movies always hit the right chords on me.
Haha I love Arnold, you see his sense of humour at 2:24. Kevin was amazing in this movie. Let's not forget how awesome Arnold, Carl, Jesse, Bill, Elpidia and the rest we're in this movie. And John McTiernan did an amazing job directing.
RIP Kevin Peter Hall. No other actors who portrayed the predator in the rest of the sequels were unable to produce that special feel or terror u given in the 1st film

It was thoughtfull by John McTiernan to give Kevin Peter Hall appearance on the screen WITHOUT costume - he's the helicopter pilot in very last scene. Possibly best match between actor, role and character in history of cinema and amout of work into choreographing movements being basically blind in costume and in grueling conditions..... if there were even honorary Oscars, Kevin Hall should get one for role alone.
Kevin Peter Hall was Phenomenal as the Predator . His movements and his way of subtle actions was spectacular and wont be beat by anyone else playing a Predator R.i.P Kevin
The reason why Kevin Peter Hall was 7ft 2in tall, was because his dad was 6ft 6in, and his mum was 6ft 2in, the rest of his brother's were all around 6ft 5in, in other words. he had a tall family
It may have been the first time, in my life, when, as a viewer you "finally get to see the alien" and....you are NOT disappointed when you finally see him/it.

His performance IS the Predator. The taking off the mask, the crouched stalking, the classic roar stance.
Yessss! Nobody after managed to capture the movement so well.
The laughing of predator at the explosion.
That's why I'll always defend 2. Yes, it's different and not 1,but the Predator is so badass.
