      Thanks a million! I'm living just outside Ennis, so I'm only a 25 min drive from Kilfenora. If you're playing any sessions next time you're over give me a shout 👍

    Great. Love these tunes in G (Club Ceili, Out on the Ocean, Haunted House) and the sound with the capo on 5. Fun to look at all these videos and hear the different wrinkles based on where the tune goes. Thanks!

    Not gona lie i busted my low e string trying to tune up to d on guitar tuna 😅. I started your strumming pattern lesson a full weekend playing and have it. But it is the type of technique will surely evolve over time.

      Hi Dave, snapping stings is a right of passage! 😋 You would be tuning down from the E to a D rather than tuning up. Here's my video on how to tune to DADGAD from Standard by ear - ruclips.net/video/R9IX4m1xlyU/видео.html And just incase, here's my method of how to string up - ruclips.net/video/NFvAcB_OpFE/видео.html Hope that helps! Keep at it and let me know how you get on 💪🎸

    Hi Aodan, I really appreciate that you share your knowledge... I was blown away by the ambiance of this type of guitar backing but couldn't really get help from the players I met (even playing the flute with them... all this is a real gold mine for me ! thanks so much

      Cheers Dominique, I'm glad you're getting something out of the lessons 👍 Let me know if there's anything in particular that you'd like me to cover and I'll try my best to help out. I love Nice, I got to play there a few years back playing music for the Celtic Legends dance troop. It's a gorgeous location.

    Thanks for posting these vids- I'm just starting to get to grips with dadgad- played guitar for 25 odd years and playing fiddle tunes on mandolin for a good few too but so far had struggled to find clear instruction on accompaniment style for this tuning. I could tell it would be a more intuitive thing if I could only understand the basic language... your excellent clear instruction setting me well on my way! Thankyou 🤝

    • @aodancoynemusic
      @aodancoynemusic  2 года назад +1

      Very glad to hear that Steve! Cheers for the nice comment. I've been thinking of starting to take up mandolin properly myself. I just need a bit of a kick... I have one hanging on my wall so I have no excuse, but I've been putting it off for years.. I just watched your Fiso Place on mandolin and guitar. Very very cool. Love that style.

      Thanks Annie! No the Socks haven't broken up, but Fiachra did manage to break his finger pretty badly recently, so we're waiting on that to heal up... We are doing a few European gigs in the coming weeks with a replacement for Fiachra. It might not be the same without him, but it will be good to get back on the road playing music :)

    Is that a Quick Draw capo you're using there, Aodan? If so, do you have (or could you make) a tutorial on shifting capo position mid-strum, either as an effect inside a tune or when changing to a tune of a different key? i'm always thrilled by that when watching the likes of Tim Edey and Cyril O'Donoghue.

    • @aodancoynemusic
      @aodancoynemusic  2 года назад

      Hi Petter, ya, it's a Quick Draw capo. That's a good idea for a video. I'll try my best to put something together that may help. I did make a Quick Draw review video a while back that may have some extra info in it that's helpful - ruclips.net/video/YwWePqC4RoY/видео.html Tim Edey and Cyril are both great.

      @@aodancoynemusic Thanks for the link, Aodan! Had a look and commented on the buzzing issue. Great if you can do a tutorial. I have these Quick Draw capos both on guitar and zouk and think they're brilliant. As for skills, one thing's to "throw" it beyond the nut, but quite another is to hit a particular fret without palm-muting and aiming and still missing 🤣
