just put an MXZ-3C30NAHZ in my house. I'm a Diamond Dealer in the Wichita Area. Great Mitsubishi videos, you have a similar attention to detail as my company does. Keep up the good work.
Inspector by me also gave me a problem with that wire. Doesn't want it running in attics or in sealtight. But he turned me onto using 14-3 uf outdoor romex. Its 10 times cheaper and can be run anywhere and in sealtight. $83 for a 250ft roll last forever compared to about $50 for 50 ft of that mini split wire. Nice job Ralph
Nice job! Only thing I would do differently is that I would start charging with the micron gauge in place. When it read over atmospheric pressure I would remove it. That way I loose just a bit of refrigerant vs adding just a bit of air.
Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks Ralph! Stoked to have stumbled onto your videos. My METUS sales are beginning to increase and these are extremely helpful.
We just bought a new house and I'm thinking of buying a HVAC unit for our bedroom. Never connected or actually touched one.. But very confident to say that I will follow up this tip! Have my experience with flares on brake lines and pressure air.. Thanks !
Im from the netherlands... and we NEVER flare ever we always braze and im looking at these american techs all flaring and im still amazed most of the techs there are still flaring there i find flares so weak and they can so easily leak compared to brazing.. even on school where we learn the job they barely learn flaring
Thanks so much.. Im new to Hvac... Seasoned Heating Engineer here in the Uk... Im impressed and Pleased to have learnt from you the Cut the flares off trick Thank you.. Question.. Is there a Need for the Flares at the outdoor Unit Can these ever be Brazed... Clearly you would need a Different Fitting at the Unit Which in turn answers the question ! Thanks for posting
Great video, I'm currently trying to understand why a MUZ-GL09NA is not working and giving my the 6 light flashing at the condensor. I verified all my connections and I am also getting proper voltage.
Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) ruclips.net/user/postUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.
If brazing on a mini split voids the warranty, then I guess I shouldn’t have replaced the EEV or compressor on some units lol. Better question is why do they have these parts for warranty replacement?
Hole for wall unit was drilled a little to low when head is on the wall you can see it on bottom right side of unit I put a magnetic level there to make sure I have the bottom of my hole saw up enough great vid
Great Video Ralph , I'm out here in Phoeniz Arizona I was just wondering have you had any Line"s kink from the downward turn (from inside to outside down the wall) that almost a 90 degree ben, I would love to hear your thoughts. And thanks againg for all the great quality videos and giving back..
Nice install. I don't usually do these so it was a good refresher course. Going to do one of these tomorrow, definitely will be brazing those evap connections in and will be mindful of the bad factory flares at the condenser. Also going to use the swaged 1/2" pvc trick. I assume the normal bell-end is too big?
My friend needs the inside unit replaced due to a crack/leak. The company is quoting $1,500 to remove the existing wall part of the unit and replace it. Unit is covered under warranty. What would you estimate the level of effort to be? Price sound fair? Based on your video, I think they need to drain the coolant, cut a hole in the wall to get to the wiring, drain, and copper pipes, remove existing unit, hang new unit, make connections, recharge system, and patch the drywall. Great videos! Thanks.
What size Allen wrench does service valve take? A 3/16 doesn't fit. I specifically ask a supply house for the adapter to open the valve. I didn't look at it close as I was in a hurry. When I went to use it it wouldn't fit, turns out it was a 3/16. I know not all of them are different but Mitsubishi is..
I'll tell you what , we do quite a few Mitsubishi systems and the flares can be enough to drive a guy crazy . We use orbital flare tools , torque wrenches and still get the random leaker on a pressure test. I still love those machines though
just imagine first heat pumps in Canada and no heater for outside coil have fun they have now we can get to minus 35 wish I had pics of coil looked like angry badger got stuck in it
Nice Job Ralph I run my line set thae same way. Where did you run your electric from your beaker to your diconnect? No big deal I was just curious... Again great work!!!
I am buying a mits split unit. The single zone 12btu.. MSZGL12NA model. Can I run the line set and drip drain on the other side.? I believe he installed it coming out the left side of unit I would need it to come out right side due to placement of compressor. Thank u!
Good video as usual Ralph but a question comes to mind...would you braze that line set if the evaporator unit was mounted on an interior wall rather than an exterior wall. Most of your install videos are done directly to an exterior wall, which is ideal and necessary but what's your thought when the wall mounted unit is on an interior wall where the line set would then have to run maybe five to ten feet to get to an exterior wall?
@@TandNServices hi, your videos are great, question if you have a total of 40ft additional line sets, do you add additional R410A based on 40ft or just the difference of 15ft.
I've done it both ways over the years if it's new construction I go in the wall if it's existing space I go through the wall, it can b made to look good eather way
I have a 1500 sq.ft. house with a 500 sq.ft. garage attached built in 2001. My wife parks her car in one half of the garage and I use the other half as my shop, would it be feasible to condition the air in the garage and inside the house using a multi zone mini split unit? I live in central Indiana so do you think I should keep the furnace for when it gets really cold?
Ralph, I'm installing a MSZ-GE18NA , I've cut the line set length to 10 feet, which is what it looks like you did on this install. Did you compensate the factory charge at all for the shorter line set? Will they run fine with the factory charge at a 10 ft. line length? Thanks, for any input on this issue.
Great job as always and explanations too. My only concern is why are you still horse, is everything ok just worried about one of the best guys on here.
+Richard Mitchell thank you for the great compliment. My voice is back now. I had bronchitis about a month ago and all the coughing messed my voice up but it's back now. It just took longer to come back because I wouldn't shut up and rest my voice.
great video, I'm in the greater Birmingham Alabama area. this spring I'm adding a sun room on the house. 20x16 this is what I have in mind to cool the area. what's the avg cost of such unit?
This guy is NOT a professional. Not one hint of plumber's crack. How can you be a pro with no pot belly, and no butt hanging out? Excellent video though. Thanks for sharing.

Nice tip on the 14-3 uf. Honestly, I don't see a problem with the mini split wire in sealtite. It's not lamp cord.
Nice job! Only thing I would do differently is that I would start charging with the micron gauge in place. When it read over atmospheric pressure I would remove it. That way I loose just a bit of refrigerant vs adding just a bit of air.

I always braze the EVAP connections. Makes it zero maintenance at the connection point. Enjoyed the install. Great tip with the hilmore on the pvc.

This video was frustrating. At 17:58 you were explaining the valves but the camera was on your face.
Nice little trick with the swaging tool.Good video
Nice job Mr.Ralph, I hope I can see some more split install in your channel.

Ralph is the mini split king , came out real nice
I was talking to a Mitsubishi rep last week he said there's no problem with brazing their equip.
Do you always braze mini split line sets. I always thought that the line sets on a mini splits were charged with freon from the factory.
Was the camera guy drunk?
He did a great job completely missing the part of what valve did you open or close rendering the video worthless.
That's obviously intentional. This isn't a how-to video.
Great video,
I'm currently trying to understand why a MUZ-GL09NA is not working and giving my the 6 light flashing at the condensor. I verified all my connections and I am also getting proper voltage.
Nice Job I have been Brazing them since the late 90's never had a issue. didn't use nitrogen back then either
Leaves out all the detailed parts of the installation
That's obviously intentional. This isn't a how-to video.
Still useful. I installed my system over a year ago and still running strong. Saved a ton of money too

thanks for this, it was very nice to see this done since i am about to install my first one in the next week or so

Mitsubishi makes superior mini split equipment, but who doesn't know that? Nice install

How about showing what you're doing with the valves while talking?
nice video Ralph.. but I'll have to test the theory of a valve core holding a 138 micron vacuum with no cap on it. lol
excellent overview of the installation of the mitsubishi mini splits. thanks for sharing the information.
+HeadHunterTwo Kilo thank you, much appreciated

when you removed your micron gauge I swear I heard the vacuum pump get loud. couldn't air enter through the Schrader under high vacuum?
no problem, schrader valve closes under 1 nanosecond :)

Nice clean install. Great job !! Take care, Brett
+hvactecster79 thanks Brett
Pressure test again to make sure flare fittings at condenser is not leaking.
There was no Sheetrock in the room behind the head unit. How are they going to install that? Aren't you suppose to run a plastic tube inside the wall?
I'm with you on leaving the lineset exposed.
Great videos Ralph. Thanks for posting!
just imagine first heat pumps in Canada and no heater for outside coil have fun they have now we can get to minus 35 wish I had pics of coil looked like angry badger got stuck in it
Good video.
What's the minimum distance the unit can be from the wall?
(I have a property line consideration...every inch matters.)
BUT, putting the unit in place before the siding is up, could make for it getting damaged, when they do the siding, why not wait?
cengeb .
Your a dumbass your comments are not needed
siding doesn't require much room to install I see no issues here.
Ben Hawver I don’t think your comment was need either.....
Excellent job Ralph looks great
+Harry Dickson thanks Harry
I think there is a minimum distance between the two units which there does not seem to be.
It puts about 4000 microns depending how quick you break the seal in a vacuum .
Did you purge it with vacuum after pulling a vac 2 times? As per the instructions?
ralph, do you ever use the white armaflex linesets? you can pull them through the toughest holes without even getting a tear. I love em
Are you talking about PDM and PAIRCOIL? We only use those. Work great for us. A little expensive but saves bunch of time
Doesn't this unit come pre charge? Why vacuum it out and re charge?
How did you do the heat load calc for this unit ? Diamond system builder ?
Nice Job Ralph I run my line set thae same way. Where did you run your electric from your beaker to your diconnect? No big deal I was just curious... Again great work!!!

That bird is fucking with the dog!!!! Listen to the bird and the dog at the beginning of the video!! Love it
Question, why didn't you pull a vacuum from the suction line and Liquid line at the same time?
+Mark Drumz there's only one port on mini splits.
it goes though both from the evaporator, EZ PZ
Great video as always. Quick question, If you have a lineset less than 10' ,on a mini split, how much charge to you remove?
+Eddie Sellers you don't have to remove any refrigerant. You only need to add if your linesets are over 25 ft.
@@TandNServices hi, your videos are great, question if you have a total of 40ft additional line sets, do you add additional R410A based on 40ft or just the difference of 15ft.
Guess you couldn't get lines in wall. I like the pvc drain swedge !
+Lee Johnson I always run it on the outside of the wall if I can. I just prefer it that way.
Well, it can be a PITA to get a lineset through a finished wall, but it sure looks nicer. Some HOAs will not allow lines to run outside.
I've done it both ways over the years if it's new construction I go in the wall if it's existing space I go through the wall, it can b made to look good eather way

Doesn't the flare fitting have a strainer in it? I prefer brazing myself.
Hey Ralph, great video, did you run the power circuit for the mini split?
Looks great Ralph!!!!
How many square feet the system will cover it will be enough for apartment two bedroom &living room
Can you flow nitrogen when you braze the connections?
Ralph,
I'm installing a MSZ-GE18NA , I've cut the line set length to 10 feet, which is what it looks like you did on this install. Did you compensate the factory charge at all for the shorter line set? Will they run fine with the factory charge at a 10 ft. line length?

The best mini split tutorial out there !. Good job !. Thanks for sharing.
What kind of utility boots and work pants do you have on?
This video is sponsored by LOWES....NEVER STOP IMPROVING.
So there is a low and hi side but you only pull vacuum from low suction side?
there is only one port on the smaller units. pulls vack threw the indoor unit. the LEV is not fully closed.
Lol thanks Ralph, was just concerned about you. Your son working with you this summer. As always keep up the great work.
Wondering how much would this cost?
"Un-OSHA approved ladder" lol... Love it!
its residential.. whats osha lol
I wonder how these systems remove humidity from the structure ?
Like an air conditioner
Nice install Ralph
How much did cost to install that system
Nice job, other than the bottom of the line set hole being visible.
how many Sq feet can that cool comfortably..?
Hi Ralph, are all mini splits pre-filled with Fridgerant?
+TCB Mechanical they come precharged for 25 ft of lineset
Looks nice and clean.
How much for the whole job
Nice job neat and easy to follow
great job with some great tips thanks
Why didn't you braze the connections to the mini-split also?
I was taught that line set in a mini split system , never braze it! brazing residues will affect the unit!
Nitrogen will keep the lines clean
Angel Lopez so what do you do with you’re extra line set ?
Well done Ralph 👍
great video, I'm in the greater Birmingham Alabama area. this spring I'm adding a sun room on the house. 20x16 this is what I have in mind to cool the area. what's the avg cost of such unit?
super efficient, mini splits are the way to go. Mitsubishi, quiet, efficient reliable. Size it properly and you will love it! Heating and cooling
great job men,,, keep it up,,,
Is this a 240v then?
240volt supply
2phase+neutral and ground.
I though this was a DIY project but I guess not. I’ll have to hire a hvac guy out here in California. 😂
Flare nuts eliminate using flames near flammable stuff.
Thank you didn’t show the connections😒
He didn't follow the factory instruction to use Nitrogen gas to purge the air/moisture out the line set 2 times after vacuum. He cut corner.
Thanks for sharing
Nice work
Thanks Rob
great work!!!!
Awesome
👍
This guy is NOT a professional. Not one hint of plumber's crack. How can you be a pro with no pot belly, and no butt hanging out?
Excellent video though. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen York systems cheap and it's said they're a rebadged Mitsubishi
Steve Lav would of put a Goodman in and charged 25 thousand yes mama
Jason Genova Jr. lol
Lol your fired! Bent the copper pipe and don’t even know if you put a kinky in the line!
nice job though!
I was amazed at the stupidity of Mitsubishi. Making such a quality AC unit with the worst flare I've ever seen. My unit had scratches in the flare and of course, they leaked behind the evaporator!! Sorry I didn't take your advice. Now I'm paying!
I believe the line set is not supplied by Mitsubishi. It is sold separately by the AC company.
safety second! Taking high risk for not using the proper stepladder.
The mashine it's brazed with a robot inthe manufacturer..you not a robot..men
