People told me I would burn so bad before i started my radiation, I was freaking out but radiation wasn't that bad. I didn't feel a burn until 1 week before my treatment ended. Find a good burn cream or gel like Aloe Vera for sunburns and use it from day one after your first treatment. It really helps! :)

Same here. I truly think the radiation only aggravates any DNA damage resulting in cancer down the road, after their '5 year cure' is statistically taken advantage of. Treating cancer with carcinogens is insane.

Recent research out of UCLA indicates radiation increases the aggressiveness of breast cancer. The tumor might shrink but the cancer spreads faster.

Radiation NEVER stops affecting your body ... EVER! I had significant tissue sensitivity and pain for about 5 years. I could not wear a bra of any kind all day without pain. I have scar tissue up to my Chin and around under my armpit. It pulls all the time and it's now my normal habit to continue to stretch it.
Radiated tissue wants to become scar tissue... always... the cells NEVER recover completely and it will not go away. I'm 7 years out and I would maybe still make the same choice. I just had no clue of the side affects that would never end.

Hi Tina, I realise this is an old post, But I was just dying to find out whether you have had radiotherapy? Because in my case it's been just over a year this October 2018. In my experience the side effects is overwhelming, I still have those tingling sensation and sudden sharpness feeling. To my understanding , I hoped it would have been over by now, but it hasn't at all. Still feels very flesh. I hate it. The affected side still is dark in colour and tender, at times muscle pains on the area.

I think radiation sucks. Personally I regret I did it. I now have a hardening lump that keeps getting bigger, and now I guess I will need surgery for this problem. Burned up dead skin. That's like growing a plant after a burning lava explosion. The pain is as bad as when I had breast cancer surgery almost a year ago. Bet I won't do that again no matter what.!!

    • @monicaperry9020

Samantha Ridley I'm due to have surgery soon and I do not want to have radiation afterwards. My surgeon said if I don't agree he will not do the surgery. I find his comment very disrespectful, cause this is my body, and it should be my choice.

What side effects are you talking about? You should rephrase the title of your video to “direct effects of radiation therapy “ because radiation causes fucking cancer. It is not a side effect because you are doing it directly to the patient. I used to work in radiotherapy and i can surely say that these doctors are clueless on what they’re doing because how can they recommend “treatment” to a cancer patient by using a machine(linear accelerator) that causes fucking cancer. This is fucking ridiculous. It’s complete stupidity!!!!! These doctors should be sued for the pain that they’re causing to people. It’s a sham people. Y’all gotta wake up.

Are you suggesting then that people don't treat breast cancer ? What other treatment would you recommend? We have to believe that our doctors have weighed the risks vs the benefits.
