I think my issue is more related to the lack of an emotional response from the image that matches the emotion from real life. Thank you for your suggestions- much appreciated 🙏🏻

Very true! You have to read the book with white cotton gloves!

Hate to rub it in but I have almost all Galen's books (purchased used) and I probably spent around $100. Galen was perhaps the best outdoor adventure photographer who ever lived and the equipment he used pales in comparison to what we have today. I can only guess what his work would look like if shot on the superb cameras we have today. For 3 years I lived within about 25 miles of Galen in California but I never actually met him. I did, however, travel throughout Galen's home base of the Bay Area which is why I find his book "Bay Area Wild" one of my favorites. The book was his wife Barbara’s idea as is so often the case Galen was drawn powerfully to other areas of the globe and had kind of taken his home range for granted. If you haven't seen the book you have missed some of Galen's best work.

Thank you for sharing! Will definitely try to get hold of a copy of "Bay Area Wild". Thanks!
