Concert String Orchestra Series
Grade 3
Ancient Wonders Suite is a musical description of four of the wonders from the ancient world. Movement one describes the awe-inspiring grandeur of the Temple of Artemis located in Ephesus (present-day Turkey). Movement two depicts the majesty of the Great Lighthouse at Alexandria, Egypt. Movement three portrays the mystery and amazing craftsmanship used to build the Great Pyramid at Giza. Movement four represents the overwhelming feeling one might have felt gazing at the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Greece. Movements may be played in any order or as stand-alone works.

My younger twin’s elite orchestra played this last month, and blew everyone away! They had the music for two weeks, then had 12 hours for all of the kids in the region to come together and practice before putting on a concert. They had 5 other pieces to learn in addition to this, and still played to perfection! I didn’t realize how epic this piece was until I heard it. My older twin’s orchestra played Inverno. Both orchestras did a phenomenal job with their pieces, and I am proud of ALL the kids who participated!
Was this event CRO in Virginia?
@@justjordan7853Yes it was!! I had never heard of CRO before, and their orchestra teacher forces them to audition. Although they hated the idea of doing it, they both loved the experience. My older twin has learned the cello part for this (even though he was in Orchestra B), and they both play it together… four months later!
@@educ8ter Oh my god, that's so cool! I just auditioned for CRO as a viola and I'm waiting for results. I really hope I get into orchestra A!
Also, the first chair violist in orchestra A last year was also our section leader in chamber!
@@educ8ter I got 4th chair in A orchestra!
OMG CONGRATS 👏@@itsapersonn
This is such a truly epic composition. A shame so few people have seen it.

My honor orchestra is currently playing all of these. I’m a cellist and it’s so fun to play

I played this last year and I miss it so much😭
This is a beautiful song thank you Todd Parrish Except this is truly a work of art for the fact that the cellos have to play at mach ten 1:45
Everyone overlooks the violas
I'm playing this for honor clinic :) (basically you can try out to be in this honors orchestra with a bunch of people from your area. It's for highschool)

Quite a magnificent piece. Although I will say that a bit of it is on the slow side, sure would be a shame if this were the only thing you were doing for your next concert
Edit: this is an inside joke, don't take it literally
This is my uncle uncle Todd. I never see him tho I only saw him when I was 3
I'd rather play 7:39 - 8:20 alone than 4 entire standard mediocre pieces xD
