    Great tips, Tom. Thank you! Those instagramers you mentioned are all amazing photographers, what an inspiration. I was glad to see Martina in your choice (she came from the Czech republic, it is our home country too). I have few questions for you: 1) how much time do you spent on istagram (average) 2) is it worth it to spent so much time on social media considering the result 3) actually what is the result and your goal being on instagram - it is for good feeling, being part of the community or for getting more customers, sponsored posts etc. I would appreciate any of your deeper insights, thanks again and keep up the good work!

    Cool video, a lot of it known, but so many people do not realize how important it is nowadays to post only great content and share your knowledge and time with others. Also thanks for featuring some amazing photographers, they're really inspiring!

    Great video dude, it's a pity you don't have more subscribers. Count me in anyway, I've noticed Instagram has been clamping down a lot lately. I no longer can use hashtags as my followers don't see my photos in their newsfeed, but then I don't get onto explore page cuz of that. Hopefully the cheats will stop ruining it on the rest of us and we can get back to sharing and liking photos.
    Your comment about sharing to magazines etc really is a great tip and one I'd never thought about and will be utilising to push my page on further. Best of luck with the channel, it's a tough platform.

      Hi Mark, thanks a lot for the kind words. I appreciate it. My channel is only a couple of months old and im hoping to get lots more content on here very soon. I agree about instagram, it is tough now, my reach just keeps dropping and we are powerless really, but what can you do!

      Look for other avenues to cross promote. I stopped making videos for a while and going back into it now to try and boost myself across the lot.

      My thoughts exactly, that's why I started RUclips. I think diversifying is the key now adays, use as many platforms as possible.

    I hate the meta of Instagram I have to admit. When I first signed up I instantly got 250+ followers. Within 2 days that number fell to just over 100. I must get 20 new followers a day, only to lose them all the next. Honestly, it's crap.

    Hi, Tom, very informative. I am new to Instagram. As a photographer, do you worry about people stealing your images? I was told to upload at low resolution and put a copyright on it, but I see these DIY RUclips videos showing how to download images by going to the source page and getting a high resolution image. The other question, does Instagram strip the metadata from your images. Just a few concerns. Maybe you can address them in another video. Thanks!

    • @tomarcherphoto
      @tomarcherphoto  6 лет назад

      Thank you Wenda! I dont really worry about it, that kind of thing can happen but it's not the end of the world for me and you can't control it too much. It's more important for me to show my photos off in their best quality. Instagram does strip all meta data when you upload a photo :)

    Which lens would you choose for a Nikon D500 please? Nikon 18-140mm, 18-200mm or 18-300mm? Or any others to suggest? Thanks! Your videos are awesome!

      Hi Richard, thanks a lot for the kind words! I personally wouldnt recommend such long range zooms as the quality really suffers at each end of the focal length. I would personally opt for the Nikon 16-80mm f/2.8-4 VR, but it depends on exactly what you are shooting and what your budget is :)

    Nice vid mate, decent tips.
    One question I would like to ask, if you have an account where you’ve already gained a small following through posting your photography photos, along with posting photos to do with you life also, such as: friends/family/festivals etc, do you think you should create a new account and start from scratch, that way your followers are wanting to see everything you are posting or carry on incorporating the two together, where some followers may not want to see other parts of your feed...
    Thanks!

    • @tomarcherphoto
      @tomarcherphoto  6 лет назад +1

      Brad Hazeldine thanks a lot Brad! Hmm, I think it’s a tricky one. But yes I think it’s good to have a seperate account to just show your work. That way it’s easier to gain followers quickly. Although I don’t think changing a personal account to a photo one is a bad thing. Your friends that follow you are likely to want to see your shots anyway. Then you can start another account for just personal stuff 😊

    I would love to know your opinion on big travel influencers who do the follow/unfollow thing? I’ll get people follow me with massive amounts of followers and I’ll think wow then when I follow back they unfollow. It makes me wonder how many people actually have built their following in any kind of genuine way?

    Just saw this video but it was very helpful! If you have a lifestyle feed do you still recommend the planning app? Will followers get annoyed if pictures are posted at obviously later dates?

    • @tomarcherphoto
      @tomarcherphoto  6 лет назад +1

      Lauren Elizabeth Schwartzbard thanks a lot Lauren 😊 yeah for sure, I think it’s still relevant. You can still use it to plan recent photos if you didn’t want to do older ones.
