- It was about time I did a Q & A, thanks a lot for all your questions. The main one I wanted to answer was all about how I make money as a landscape photographer. I hope you find this useful!

There's only one "small" issue with selling prints - the ink price. I've heard it's literally more expensive than human blood
Very insightful Tommy 😘
Jules Parker thannnkkksss 😊
😊 Appreciate your sharing! ✔️ 😊 ✨
Thanks so much Holly!
is it worth starting at art festivals to sell work? If so, do you do them? How profitable do they tend to be for you if they do?
Sorry I missed this! I’ve never actually tried it. I think it’s something that could be very hit and miss, you would need to do your research and find the right place.
Hey would love to know the type of camara you use Tom photos look great love what you do man
Travis Wilson hey Travis, thanks a lot for the kind words man! I use a Nikon D850 at the moment. If you look a few videos back you will find one I made all about my favourite landscape kit 😊
😍
Great informative video, Tom 🙂✊
But raise your voice a little bit or use a lav mic to make voice clearer
Keep goin 💪💪
Thanks a lot Ashraf :)
Thanks for the video, Tom. I do have several of these income streams too but the truth is that it doesn't cover my full time living yet (that's mainly because I am on different level than you:) But great tips as always. I am glad to hear you were in Yosemite, I have just seen you posted some older photo on Insta and FB. Hope you will visit also other places here which you mentioned - these are all ma favorites and I am sure you would love it too. (please please, do the workshop there! :-)
Thanks for the kind words! Its definitely something I would love to do some day. I'll definitely be over in the US soon anyway, my brother has just moved there and is working for NASA (maybe he'll meet your husband!?). Best of luck with the work :)
@@tomarcherphoto What a coincidence :) Is your brother at Houston NASA too or somewhere else? If he needs some help let us know. Also, if you appear here and want to hang out let me know (it would be a pleasure to meet such a guru! :) Wishing you all the best, honestly I cannot wait for inspiration from you, I am sure your US photos will be amazing again.
@@filmingfamily Oh no, hes at JPL, thats very kind of you though, thank you!
@@tomarcherphoto great for you if you visit him - California is definitely better for landscape photo than Texas :) Good luck to both of you!
My first camera is 350d too... !!
Adi Tri 🙌🏻
Mine was the 450d
Hy. I would like to know if your web page is built with squarespace and what template do you use? Tks
Hey, no not Squarespace, I used Flothemes.
@@tomarcherphoto tks
A bit late to the comments bit what about editorial work? Brendon van son on his RUclips channel recommends trying to break into that
I would class editorial work as either commissioned work or image licensing (depending on how they approach you). It's nice to see you images in print but to be completely honest, they generally pay pretty badly. I had my image in a full centre spread of the Guardian and only got just over £100. The same thing goes with images I have had on the front of several books, some offered as low as £30!
@@tomarcherphoto thanks, i figured as much. Think I will keep it as a hobby then.
@@johnrodgers2018 Its always nice to see your photos in publications, and I often do it for that reason. But with some photos, I am weary of selling rights very cheaply, as it can damage their ability to be licensed later on as some big clients want exclusivity.
Hi Tom! Really appreciated the video. I'm looking to sell my prints online and you mentioned that this is one of the ways you make an income. Do you use a third party to print and drop ship to customers? If so, would you recommend the company you use? Many thanks, Pete! 👍
Thanks Pete, glad it was helpful. I use Pixieset to integrate the gallery into my website and I do use their fulfilment service too :)
@@tomarcherphoto Thanks for the info Tom. I'll take a look at Pixieset. Much appreciated! 👍
As I understand from most youtube videos landscape photographers don't make money of their photos but selling tutorials, working as a tour or real estate photograph, making money form youtube and other social media. As we know earning money from stock photography full time is not a option, because few people make good money from stock money business and this are good photographers who put thousand photographs for sale per month. Selling a prints in also not profitable, that why every photographer making and selling tutorials or making vlogs
Workshops can make some money. RUclips is great for building an audience.
