@@INDUSTRIAL_WOLF Oh, that's ridiculous to post that, since she didn't care if he complimented Chuck! Chuck was there at the start, and continued into the early-1970s. John nailed it with the most accurate label on the true Rock 'n' Roll greatest (besides Buddy who only had 2 years) and who got its core idea for the longest time at its key start in 1955 with his "Maybelline".

My condolences on losing your grandmother.

And the people that make these comments are not even Chuck berry fans they are just ‘anybody but Elvis’ kinda people, mostly because Elvis was white. You don’t know about music history and it would take more than a comment on youtube to fill you in on it.

How could 768 people vote this down? Released in Mar. 1957, hit #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Workin' your fingers right down to the bone, the guy behind you won't leave you alone!" One of the great R&R lines of all time! Love this song, and almost all of Chuck's many classic hits! "Johnny B. Goode" is the only rock-and-roll song included on the Voyager Golden Record, launched in 1977. He was nicknamed by NBC as the "Father of Rock and Roll". Miss him, even though he lived to be 90. We lost the founding father of rock and roll itself, and the world is poorer for it.

My dad loves this song. This is my dad's nostalgia Chuck Berry. I love this song. 2024 anybody? A few times this song made me cry for some reason. This song made me cry on April 16, 2023 on a rainy Sunday when I heard it at a hobby shop. I was with my dad. He said, "I haven't heard this song in forever." I said, "Me too." Chuck Berry is not so much my nostalgia but my dad's and Grandpa's too. I don't cry when Johnny B Goode comes on. My grandpa loves Chuck Berry. I first heard this song in 2010 somewhere and started dancing when I was two. Now I'm almost 16. I cried that Sunday night and cried when I got to school because I couldn't get it off my head until later the next rainy day. Speaking of nostalgia, I watched a Looney Tunes episode the next night. Looney Tunes is Grandpa's nostalgia as well. I watched one that came on TCM or Turner Classic Movies channel. I watched it with Grandpa and his foster teen boy, Levi. Levi is still at Grandma's. He was there since 2022. Then I laughed. Laughed hard that night and my sad feelings went away. I still love this song even though it made me cry that day. I love Looney Tunes as well. Funny. Do any of you think this song makes you cry? 2024 anybody?

jorge rito Well... not exactly. Rock ‘n’ Roll is a genre that slowly formed from C&W, R&B, Gospel, and a bit of Pop. Rock ‘n’ Roll began to become Recognizable as a genre around 1949, when there was a string of ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll hits in the BillBoard R&B charts. Bill Haley, however, was the first crossover act, having a top-20 in 1953 with ‘Crazy Man Crazy’ Berry only made the scene in 1955, with ‘Maybellene’, however, his career as a pop artist temporarily floundered during the crucial year of 1956, as his follow-up records were considered to weak, to similar to Maybellene, or to Racial, in the case of ‘Brown Eyed Handsome Man’. Elvis blew up during this point, with some of the strongest and most recognizable records in the whole genre being made by him at that point. If sheerly by success, Elvis is king. But don’t get me wrong, Chuck is a legend.

One thing that truly differentiates Charles Berry from a lot of other rockers his is crisp , precise pronunciation of all of his lyrics. You can clearly understand each and every syllable. Match that with his superb showmanship and creatively, you have an absolute master!
