  • This is from a Live Streaming of me as Bacchus in a performance in September 2018 of Ariadne auf Naxos (I will not put any more information about it as I suspect this is breaking copyright - the video was sent to me by someone who filmed their computer screen, so while the quality isn’t great, it’s much better than I would have expected!). And my apologies for so clumsily cutting up this gorgeous music in order to make this short video (other than copyright issues, I didn’t want to post any of my colleagues’ performances online without their knowledge or approval).
This was an Einspringen (jump in) performance - the tenor scheduled to sing cancelled the day before due to illness and I had no real rehearsal, only spending an hour the afternoon of the performance learning the staging from the assistant director and speaking briefly with the conductor about tempi - so while it is a rough performance on my part, I’m nonetheless very pleased that it went as well as it did.
Finally, I have posted this video because this is a new role (in relatively new repertory) for me, and while my Bacchus is far from being a finished product (especially due to the circumstances of this Einspringen performance), I thought it would be worthwhile to have a video available for anyone to see how I portray the role.
