Did you check out the mall across the street? Also in that area used to be a GameStop and there's still a hockey store and Burlington Coat Factory there. Also that theatre was an AMC theatre and before that Star Theatres. I saw Titanic and Star Wars there in 1997.
I am providing a few corrections: -Kids "R" Us appears to have closed in the early 1990s. -Staples closed in 2007 and moved to Independence Marketplace in Allen Park (and that location is in turn now closed). -Shoe Carnival moved in 2013.
