I actually didn't thought as to why they exist before now aside from giving Griffin more "realistic" or "alive" feeling. It will be sad if they die but you do have a point. It was a miracle that Griffin survived that whole ordeal.
dem boi, you gave such detailed explainations of the lore and the different commanders' persona which reflects different types of players of the game. You gained a sub.
Very good analysis video despite I don't like the anime but seeing your video make me realized how support commanders have more thing to see especially Shi Jun, I'm more into him right now. And also, because I've never read the manga before so it is the first time to know that Kawasaki has prosthetic leg and has some ww3 background, pretty sad how she has less screen time than others commander.
I really liked the Idea of leaving it for the player to fill in. Because my Commander is a 150-year-old Venom Snake that came out of retirement to get a better look at evil super AI. Griffon was really happy to have me, even if I hadn't seen action in 30 years and everyone I worked with was long dead, and they were really more of a means to an end. But I really feel for the Dolls now, malfunctioning robots made cannon fodder, wondering about the meaning of life because nobody could be asked to switch off their simulated emotions before being thrown into War
I like to think they will all survive and simply player-commander will be split between multiple characters permamently. That would work well since this could potentially work out to better present emotional state of the commander as much of GFL story describes commander emotions and inner monologue during planning so multiple characters with different specialisation could bounce ideas and opinions between each other avoiding both the issue of skipping some more interesting scenes and having to resort to extended scenes of Gentaine talking to each other. I like to think they will basically end up with Gentaine as the commanding commander that will be meant more as an average but super smart person, Kamalov as the heart and muscle of the team, Shi-Jun as a second in command, Franklin will stay more behind as the logistics planner he basically already is, likely handling the base when main combat commanders get sent on missions and Kawasaki being the meta gamer respesentation, likely with some PTSD scenes or images of disgruntled veteran, even willing to sacrifice T-Dolls as seeing them as semi-immortal due to backups of neural cloud
Damn, my man literally read the manhua 3 times and even watch the anime, while it took me days and weeks to read through 31 chapter of the manhua And I also didn't notice that Chapter 3 Emergency thing either. Very nice Watching this makes me realize about how different commander represent different type of player. Reading manhua makes me realize how good best of the best commanders of G&K are. Watching this again makes me realize I should also notice how they interact with Girls' Frontline world (Kawasaki Commander) (I said this a few times, but I'm preparing for making a fanfic of the game, before the end of 2023. It will be another corner of the manhua but I'm not gonna change manhua canon or self-insert of some sorts. It's a hobby, so I don't know if I will show it to public. As you said, some commander represents some types of player (although most of them has to do with in-game stuff). Well, I will go with the one who want to makes T-doll then aka fanfic writer. And when I said "makes" I really means it in story. But because of my personality and the love to T-doll, I think it kinda like Commander Kamalov. Not like it's a bad thing for now, but hopefully I will be able to make something more different. And also having a deeper view on Girls' Frontline world)
what I learn from the commander dialouge in the game, I suspect he is an ex-mercenary or having a lot battle experience the nickname sheet feels like the recruit was purposely given to the commander and not random recruitment and only a man will try to kill himself many times in the major event
Damn son, that text on screen was way too fast. Gentiane being cooler in the animated series and given a scene to prove herself more was a good thing, but they should've built more upon that, along with her relation with G36 instead of Kalina. Kalina herself should've been built up more with Shi Jun,because the vague understanding we have left is that they're slightly more then just friends, enough at least for Shi Jun to dump money and work to her during a date. Definitely need to see how they go on from here, since the other commanders were pretty alright, save for the forced perception around Gentiane. Also,I don't recall, but was there even a scene where we saw that Kawasaki was missing a leg?
my b on the fast text Yeah, Gentaine and G36 feels really empty, they just kind of exist next to each other and thats it... I have high hopes they will do something with Kalina and Shi Jun, and at least the anime did step up the relationship from them being friendly to something more. I hope Kalina will get more characterization as the manga and anime move on, because she gets more and more important as the game's story progresses. in episode 8 if you pause at the scene where Shi Jun is waving to Gentaine and when everyone is saluting to Helian you can see that Kawasaki has a prosthetic left leg, its all dark gray and thinner than her leg.
@@Sanime1 ,well, damn. I had to turn off my screen dimmer and turn up my screen brightness just to see her leg under the table. And of course it barely shows from under her uniform during the salute.
I remember Shi Jun originally didn't have a name yet when he was created, I suspected that Shi Jun was supposed to be the Commander that appear in the "Omake" storyline in the game. Shi Jun is a perfect example of like "The Producer" in the original Idolmaster. I didn't really like Gentianne, as it feels like she is a "Mary Sue", not to mention this anime and manga did the biggest mistake in terms of Gacha game is to give the Avatar a "name and personality".
I don't think they should have adapted the story from the Manga. The gritty feel of the plot and cunning mysterious commander of the Game was lacking in the Anime. The Anime didn't do the best Gacha Games story Justice. As much as the Story is supposed to focus more on the T-dolls, the Commander is just as integral and Gentiane was not the one most fans wanted or even knew about. Watching this, they even managed to screw her Character up to the point it probably would have been better the Commander not even be shown.
It will be more interesting if you know that one of these commander will survive season 3 and command the operation to rescue Kurger during PL. Also I'm quite curious who actually made the last stand during AW.
If we theorice, who die when, than both Franklin and Shi Jun could die around the Singularity event. Kamalov on the other hand will die in Pointcarré Recurrence, it would fit to his role to protect. Kawasaki is someone, i can´t put into something, i don´t know if and how she could die. But judging from my profilpicture, you can geuss, who i like the most.
There is going to be problem come Singularity with the personality divide. Gentiane will either take on the personalities of others, which will not bode well with the sudden character change and I doubt that hack of a mangaka, Ling, will make it work or she doesn't change and continues to be unlikable.
I think you're a little bit harsh on Gentiane. There's an element of the Mary-Sue archetype about her, but I personally see that as a meta reference to the early game simply being very easy. The GFL story is one of escalating stakes, and in order for the gravity of later developments to hit home, the player must first have been given the illusion that this would be pretty easy... only to have that taken away. I think having Gentiane show up as just this young and lazy tactical genius on her first day is shorthand for the early game experience. Of course, for the story to continue, we must have a Commander who succeeds in every mission (unless...) but she's due for a humbling, and I'd say she'll get it soon. I've only read the manga up to Cube, so I don't know if it goes in that direction, but game-wise Cube and Arctic Warfare is when the game got serious for me.
oh c'mon, do every commander is condemt to die at season 3? i can deal with one of them (if isn't Kawasaki) but all of them? that sucks, at least i hope Kawasaki and Shi Jun or Kamalov manages to survive, i'll be very very sad if all of them die, or if Kawasaki dies, in that case, a part of me will die with she
i think the commanders can play an actual role in the events since after Kryuger was released from prison, he stated he "lost" some commanders in the "fight"
Gentiane's character design is great and I really like the idea of a female Commander. I have a feeling the reason she's portrayed as so abrasive and overconfident in these early stages of the story is to set her up for an actual character arc once the story starts getting Real (Arctic Warfare/Singularity). My guess is we're going to see most if not all of the secondary Griffin commanders get murked in the manga/anime version of Singularity which will be, along with the loss of M16, severe damaging of UMP45, and liquidation of Griffin, Gentiane first major failure and the trigger for her to start developing into the Commander we recognize from the game. In any case it seems hard to believe they intend to take the commanders as they exist now into arcs like Isomer or Shattered Connexion without serious trimming down and/or writing out of the story, along with major character development for Gentiane.
Gentiane just isn’t a redeeming character. People who screech about how good the manga are just can’t convince me otherwise. The anime was no better than the manga despite the single and only bad scene that we all know. (It was fixed on dvd blu ray release)
I would say she's just serviceable, she serves her role as the commander and I honestly prefer they focus on the AR team more as they are the protagonists on chapters 1-10 and even on the later chapters to be honest. The game commander began to show character in later chapters eventually becoming more important to the plot rather than just the person leading the AR team. Although I don't get the Gentiane hate either, people really hated her the moment she was shown in the manga. Is she a bit boring? Well yeah but does she deserve the hate she's got? Nope, like I said she's serviceable but her haters make her out to be a horrible character. Currently we are still the game's chapter 10 on the manga so she should be getting more development from now on considering what happened in this chapter and what happens next. To me Gentiane currently feels like an important side character instead of the main protagonist and with her characterization, that's fine in that sense. Also I stopped watching the anime because the director made subtle changes that have significant effects on the characters. Like the M4 vs Executioner fight where M4 was getting her ass kicked and had to be saved by Mp5 when in the manga she put up a decent fight and actually defeated Executioner showing that she is indeed an elite doll and not a bloody doormat. I wouldn't say the manga is perfect either, there's some changes I didn't like but the anime is a significant downgrade. I would say I like the way the manga handled the commanders, actual characters of their own (despite how one note they can be) instead of being the vessel for a self insert harem power fantasy that we could have gotten.
As much of a mess the anime was overall, it at least got more people making videos about the game's story. I definitely need to reread the manga from the beginning to get a feel of all the other commanders, but I can at least view the story decision to include multiple commanders as a splitting the character of [The Commander] into multiple characters.
I actually didn't thought as to why they exist before now aside from giving Griffin more "realistic" or "alive" feeling. It will be sad if they die but you do have a point. It was a miracle that Griffin survived that whole ordeal.
"we should all know the story"
Franklin is done dirty. Logistics officers play important roles. Without him they'd run out of ammo and supplies fast.
Good video, a video about "The comander" of the game past chapter 6 would be interesting
That would be interesting, I might go over how "The Commander" has changed due to the different head writers of Girls Frontline some day.
dem boi, you gave such detailed explainations of the lore and the different commanders' persona which reflects different types of players of the game. You gained a sub.
Still believe a New commander from 0 would had been better than Gentiane. But how ironic the other commanders where more loved than her.
