- For years my wife and I have talked about one day moving up into the Alaskan Range and pursuing a more independent lifestyle. We have fallen in love with the wild mountains and dream of living among them. This week we began our journey. It starts by renovating an old cabin. We are so glad you are joining us on our adventure.

This year really turned out to be very snowy, and this added trouble, but did not diminish joy. And also, it's so wonderful when in all your endeavors you have the support of a wonderful wife!! Long and happy years to both of you!

It was quite an adventure! We have been completely amazed by the snow this year. It sure makes things more difficult and right now it’s a little hard to believe that within 10 weeks or so it will pretty much be gone. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. Peace to you.

The last two nights we were -44F and -41F for our lows. Been a brutal last 2 months. When it warms just slightly, it snows. Lots.
Isn’t that the way is goes? Yes, we have the same sort of thing here, either the deep cold or the snow.

We couldn't have used the little woodstove though. That would have been a very cold night. The tent is designed for outdoor winter camping, even in high winds. It is an amazing piece of survival equipment and very comfortable

OMG, I have so got to see more of this. You had your butts covered to get you out there & I'm assuming a bunch of supplies in the truck. I so wish I was able to join you two. It is absolutely beautiful!!!!! I love the snow. We don't get any in Chattanooga, Tennessee. If I were physically able I would so be in a cabin like you two are fixing to be, away from all the people & this harsh world.
Things are going to h- - - in a hand basket.
I am 68 yrs. old, home bound & just waiting for the end. If I had only known what I do now I would have found a spot in Alaska & made my home.
Now, I definitely want to see more of this adventure. Hope ya'll make it alright into the cabin.

This was an amazing video it truly shows the determination and hard work you have to put in to live in that type environment. You and your wife both are natural in front of the camera your love for each other and the wilderness of Alaska shows through very brightly!
