  • In Episode 12 we expand our electricity supply to cover our new city, and run pipes from our heating plant to a substation in the city so we can supply our future citizens with heat without making them breathe coal fumes.
We also place our waste collection stands so our bin lorries can work more efficiently.
    (chapter 2)
    About the series
Workers & Resources Soviet Republic is a complicated game and can be hard to get into for beginners.
This series aims to tackle that by providing a tutorial you can play along with by downloading the same savegame I'll be playing on, and following the videos in your own copy of the game.
The videos themselves will be a step-by-step guide to everything needed to play the game on the hardest difficulty, from initial construction setup, building your starter city, and eventually exploring all mechanics and logistics methods in the game and achieving self-sufficiency for your republic.

You can always use large pump as splitter into 3x small pipes. I haven't done math on pipe cost but it should be more energe efficient with shorter connections from enchanger to buildings.
With pipes and wires you can connect above ground and below ground without any building. Just get it to ground level and switch to underground pipe/cable. They will snap.
You're way overbuilding garbage stands for such low density buildings. If singular ones would overfill, it's issue with collecting anyway. But might be true with recycling. I haven't tested it for residentials yet.
You don't need dirt roads to get fire station into range. There is button to send firefighers manually and it does not have any range limitations afaik. They just have to get in time to do something, that usually isn't true beyond automatic range.

Luckily one large exchanger is all we need for now, the coverage areas on them are huge!
I know you can connect underground and overground electrical cables together, but I couldn't get it to work with the heating pipes when I was recording the episode so I cut that part out. Someone else mentioned you can just do a small amount of terraforming and it reactivates the connection points too.
Yeah when recycling comes in more stands are better. The trucks can make multiple stops, but they only plan one at a time and they only replan when they get to a road node. Since a lot of the stands are far away from the road, it'll be better to dedicate one entire stand to a whole waste type rather than spreading it out between them all. Plus at least for now the trucks are going far away with each load so we want them to be able to fill up completely each time.
I forgot about the manual send button!

Free storage areas are more efficient for building the city, One for each type of materials (Brics, Boards, Steel, Prefabs) and bulk storage (Gravel)

Yeah potentially. I didn't want to overcomplicate things for those following along though. We're building far enough from the border that there's no traffic issue at the customs house, and even without storages the bottleneck is pretty much always workers

3:30 Is there a reason other than office space as to why you didn't use a distribution office to get the coal to the heating plant?

Yeah, but not necessarily a good one haha: Because the truck is set to wait until empty, then when it leaves the heating plant will have a full storage, then since the truck goes straight to the border and back it will arrive back to the heating plant with the minimum downtime possible. With a DO you need to set a percentage and the truck only starts moving at that percentage, so the amount of coal in the heating plant will go lower before being refilled. You can offset that by setting the DO percentage high, but then the truck might run half empty a lot of the time.
It's not so important for the heating plant since it's got such a big storage, but it's important for other buildings like the shopping centre.
