Wow you lucky little shit.... Come here..... Lmao jokes aside, man you are supremely blessed to have seen both Depeche Mode AND Front 242 IN THE 80S DURING THEIR PRIME!!!! 👏🏻🗿
i discovered these pure jewels of Belgium during my early college years in 1988. They stayed and stay with me since then every day as i am in my mid 40's !! RUclips will show our comments in 5 generations and i am sure the children of our children will just remember how crazy their ancesters were with their genius music ! Pure love F 2-4-2 !!!
My children will know them for sure! It's also totally cyberpunk! Shame the game is set in modernized version of the world... Would love to see the recognition for F242 and similar bands
This exact Concert / the Broadcasting from RTBF (french speaking Belgium TV) brought me into EBM and into Front 242 especially. Had the Set (all after the Interviewpart) recordet on Cassette and played that till the Tape broke ;-)
I was 14 back then, but what a time to be alive. All those great concerts at halles de schaerbeek, La Gaite, the Manhattan (in Leuven) that period. I was pissed out of my skull most times but when I see recordings of those concerts I feel the energy just like before
At a time when the new wave music coming out of the UK was amazing but so soft and artistic Front 242 brought a political edge that made them so interesting, and the music was sick and the dance moves slay
Yeah, my favorite tv show at that time, ROXBOX with host Ray Cokes. The RTBF (Belgian French speaking TV chanel) organized free concerts and I went to several of them. This Front 242 concert @ La Gaité-Brussels was too short (35min), but as a 16 year old kid I was deeply impressed about what I've seen. Many Front 242 concerts followed, but this one will forever be in my top 3. Still gettin goosebumps after all this years! This is Belgian EBM history!
I couldn’t imagine seeing 242 at 16. My head would have exploded and I would have become obsessed with EBM / Industrial Dance and listen to the classics every day till 50 years old. Instead I saw them at 18 and the same thing happened except I qualified for a credit card and bought a sampler.
I have not seen this before either, but I highly recommend Any and Every Live CD you can get your hands on from Front 242 on at least a 5.1 Surround sound system with a nice 2 ft. Subwoofer cube 😀!!!
@@markmower6507 I have them all! From Target, Code and beyond! hehehehe. Seen them so many times live over years. i think first time 1985 somewhere in belgium, London Astoria 1989 (that was the best) and the latest, Madrid december 2021. Gary Numan, 242 and Portion Control! JUST!
@@PolarRed I have also all from them (and many many more on electronic music etc ) , electrician at work but also electronic DJ music ^^ Grettings from Belgium
i saw Front 242 at Bryggargården in Västerås, Sweden 1984-1986-ish and they were fantastic! I remeber especially the keyboardist who had his mouth full of discettes that he put in an out in the keyboard all the time
I discovered them exactly one year after this gig, in the fall of 86, and just before the release of Official Version. I was 16. I saw them live when they toured in 87 with that release, and that's still the best concert I've ever been to (including the 4-5 times I've seen them since).
I saw Front 242 in Chicago in 2004 or 2005 for the first time at a place called The Congress theater, and the place is not a lovely venue for concerts. Fast forward to 2020 they were gonna play at the Metro which is an awesome venue, but it got cancelled due to the Corona Virus, so, the concert was rescheduled for April, 2021, so i dont know when they may play again. This pandemic screwed up everything. Welcome to paradise. Lol
I had a cassette, on the b side there were three front242 song the first was body to body the other two I dont remember only the sound is in my mind. I am looking for them because they are soo good...
4:39 I love how he downplays his own genius. We all love Richard, Jean-Luc, and Patrick but as their military aesthetic would dictate- what you see operating on the surface is but a function of the cause, lying beneath. And that “cause” is Daniel Fu&$?ng B. Individually the “Front 3” are: a painfully shy and introverted technical genius, the angriest man in Belgium (who is being forced to sing to massive crowds of people he hates) and the poster boy for ADHD. Individually I’d hate all three of them. But Daniel B. said “If these three beautiful outcasts can be balanced in certain proportions, music will be changed forever.” Front 242 are not only the best / most important band of the “Industrial Dance” days but they are one of musics most iconic and enigmatic brands- through 1991. (After that they let their guard down, which was a shame.) Anyhoo. Daniel B. is the man.
I went to a Depeche Mode concert in Munich in the 80s. Front 242 was the support act. Unforgettable!
How badly did DM pale in comparison?

Don't Crash is one of their best. Love their first two albums:)

No one come close to 242😎pure EBM
This style of music didn't catch on much, but it is so amazing. Maybe there will be a revival someday.
It wasn't meant to "catch on", it was meant to challenge and push boundaries.
it is pretty much avant garde music. their sound was way ahead of time and i think it was meant for transcending and not to catch on
Been a “revival” for some time - high functioning flesh, //TENSE//, Puerta Negra…many more
You need to check out an act from the USA called RAILWRX. It’s strangely cinematic and intense.
