Originally named Retribution, American metalcore band Atreyu opted for their name change in tribute to the character from The Neverending Story, to avoid being confused with another band called Retribution, also hailing from Californian roots. With the formalities out of the way, Atreyu has gone on to release five studio albums since its formation in 1998. Experiencing a change in band members its most recent line-up, said to be on a hiatus, include Alex Varkatzas, Dan Jacobs, Travis Miguel, Marc McKnight and Brandon Saller.

Atreyu will always be my favorite band. I begged my mom for Lead Sails Paper Anchors when it came out, I was in 7th grade, just lost my dad, had a whirlwind of shit going on...anyways... If it wasn't for that album I wouldn't have survived. Sounds corny, I know.. But every single song was relatable to me and I would turn the CD on repeat and jam it for hours. I still do. It's legit my therapy. 🤘🤘

They sound amazing even in live, they are absolutely fantastic!
Atreyu is so good at making "legendary" songs. Every song that's popular by them is so for good reason. I love how this song changes so much. The lyrics are relatable. They're all great musicians. I just think they get thrown into the wrong category all the time.

How did this change your life? They are awful live. Singer can't sing, guitarist can't guitar. This is one band that only sounds good on the album.

Did they even do a soundsheck? The mixing is horrible....
Love this band and love this song but as a musician they were having some big problems on stage. Not a great mix and they got off their metronome or backing track somehow. Happens a lot when touring probably didn't get adequate soundcheck if they werent headlining. Still love this song and them.. this video does not represent their talent fully.

Man I really love Atreyu, but I noticed something about them live, once when I seen them for myself and in pretty much every video of them live. Alex, Marc and Brandon are all vocalizing in slightly different keys. The worst offender is probably Marc, who's not in key with Alex. They can all sing and scream for sure but they need some work for their live stuff.
Mic is super dry for his vocal parts too. It's more of a mixer/production issue. He is actually doing just fine... just not getting the proper mix.
My opinion ofc... but it def is a drag when they have it like this.

RebelSinging well for one: their lead guitarist comes up with some sick stuff but when they play it live he can't even play it. Also the vocals are flat A LOT. They use a lot of editing for their studio recordings.
***** I agree. The voices seem to be confused as to whether or not be screamo or vocals. It's flat, and the first word was off beat. The guitarist isn't too quiet. It's pretty much just noise. Their edited version is actually very good. I would consider these people great artists because they have the idea of it, despite the act of not fully going through it on a live performance. They created it, though. I'd give it a 9. Performance, a 5.

There's a huge difference listening to it on RUclips and actually being there live. But I will agree it does sound a bit flat.
