Being an ex-drum major myself, I've got to say that this young lady showed a great deal of patience and bearing through the whole thing. :) I was watching people just step in front of her when she was attempting to flourish and I never saw her expression change a bit...! And the lady could definitely get the job done! Bravo!

Daft lot jumping in front spoiled it somewhat. I'm watching from Australia and this was a rare chance to see someone flourish like that.
When I was 4, watching the pipe band at the Santa parade, I asked Mum if the man with the sword would kill me if I ran out in front of him, and she said yes.
That Drum Major....she is some AWESOME! She's the SHOW!!!!!!!!!

There's not been another pipe band with such great results at the World's over the past fifteen or so years. Several firsts and a good share of 2nd place finishes.

Some strange comments here. In this video FMM have just won First at the Worlds, the top competition in the piping world, This looks to be to be a victory parade which is why someone is holding up the Trophy and there is a lot of hand shaking and back slapping going on.
What a great video. Thanks so much for posting. The female Drum major was great , with tight flourishing, and sympathetic control of the band in this happy occasion. Wonderful.

For what its worth to the Drum Major, I'm more amazed by her skill and how she handled herself when she was crowded, Excellent Form.

What a march back to camp. What an outstanding Drum Major !! Perfection, never distracted, really in command, not flustered in the least marching through quite a mob but putting on a real show when she had the space instead. That band is the best of the best in the world. They make it look easy.

It would have been nice to see her use the baton on some of the oafs that walked in front of the band or at least have some ushers to keep people from ruining our viewing experience.
The band did an excellent job keeping pace with all of the interruptions. Now for the haters.

ive come back to this time and time again. Not a scottish piping band but fuck this makes me proud to be scottish. We've lost our glory but this brings a little bit of it back
Too right matey...hearing GREAT pipes heals the sickly soul and lifts the SPIRIT. Sorta like an antibiotic.
Escorts would be good for this band but the drum major seemed fine with all the cameras in her face. I did notice though that the pipe major however, kept stopping to get some sort of object??? The spectators at this event should have stayed to the side and watched so the band can get through with ease and focus. I do not agree with Kilbraur though. Both genders of people can be drum major. This drum major is amazing and is better than other MALE drum majors I have seen.
Its important to realize that a lot of the so-called idiots are friends and family of the band! The band doesn't mind...too much (really? Mom - you had to jump right in front there?)
I've watched this many times. This is just the victory lap to the bus! Would love to have seen the competition. Makes want to rush into battle with a war cry of "JESUS"!
My favorite Highland bagpipe band, but I love them all.
What a disrespectful thing to do by walking in front of the band. Know what I would have done with the Mace!

Class band. Class Drum Major.
What a great happy video, such wonderful playing. The Drum major sure is good looking, but also very good in deportment etc, but also her flourishing, I suspect that Brian Wilson has given some tuition here, as she has the same movements and polish.AS for the rest of the band, what discipline, I would want to celebrate a little, but they carry on playing lovely stuff, perhaps that is the best way, certainly shows what a class band they are. Funny scene at 5:20 where the Pipe Major turns around, a signal to stop playing at the end of the part. However at 5:30 only the front few rows and the Drum Major stop, so they reluctantly start playing again at 5:40 !
I may have missed something but it seems the Drum Major planted her mace and with one movement they were off. I didn't hear anyone call the pipe band to attention.
