Chinchilla! You absolutely rock! And I can’t wait to react to your OWN songs! I’ve been hearing that I need to hear “Fingers” live. Is there a song YOU think I should do of yours first? Much love to you. Absolutely amazing talent! Ridiculous voice.
Out of interest Chinchilla, where was this filmed as I've seen a few claim it's on Menai bridge but it's obviously not, looks more like a rooftop balcony somewhere. Was it filmed the same day/evening as chalk outlines?
I think it's really important to know that Joe had tried to get help. In the week or so before he jumped, he had tried to admit himself to the hospital, but was refused because he was drunk. There were also multiple attempts by his friends and family to help. Ren's raising of mental health, and that if yourself and other reactors can save lives. Thank you for going a step beyond just a review.
That is absolutely fucked up. Most suicides are committed when under the influence, usually alcohol. That is especially when you should take someone serious.
Found you on wolf's reaction to Ren's shoutout for people to sub to his channel. Looking forward to watching your Ren reactions too. What a wonderful world. 🫶
Chinchilla and Ren together is magic. They pierce the veil. I found Chinchilla thanks to Ren and all her stuff is amazing. "Fingers (live)" is absolute fire. Thanks for this reaction btw!
This video was filmed on the Bridge that Joe jumped from. It makes it even that much more powerful and emotional. The last lines kill me. This song ties directly in with "Freckled Angel".
I've seen a few people claim this. Doesn't look like menai bridge though. You couldnt film there as there's always cars crossing over it. I imagine it was probably filmed somewhere in Bristol
No that definitely isn't on the bridge (I live on Anglesey). It looks like the balcony of Dylan's Restaurant which overlooks the Menai Strait, not far from the bridge though.
Love your reaction. This song speaks volumes to anyone who has been so deep down that su*cide actually feels like a logical solution. I cry every time when the Hallelujah part starts. Nothing is pulling me through is such a powerful and desperate line.
I’ve been in a battle with my depression and anxiety for almost 50 years … his words are spot on… I listen to this song late at night and it somehow soothes me. Their voices together are heavenly ❤❤;
Thank you for your heartfelt reaction. As you stated, "How to Be Me," is about Ren's best friend, Joe Hughes, who committed suicide; Ren alluded to it in one of his other songs, stating that he lost his best friend before he was 25. The pain of this loss is evident in a few of his songs, "Freckled Angels" being one examples. It is dedicated to Joe Hughes, who committed suicide on the 27th of December, 2010. Someone else commented that the video was shot at the bridge that Ren's friend jumped from. His body was never recovered. Their live performance of "Chalk Outlines" is still my favorite song, partly because I can relate to it due to my own daily struggles. Although, losing your best friend to suicide is also something I experienced when I was 19 y/o (almost 38 years ago). “How to Be Me” definitely runs a close second, though. I would also recommend their busking sessions in Brighton, performing “Sexual Healing” (Marvin Gaye cover) and “One Dance / Drunk in love” (Drake/Beyoncé cover); those performances are of a much lighter mood and very enjoyable. In case you didn't already know, Chinchilla (Daisy Bertenshaw) is 26 years old, from London, UK, and a rising star on the British music scene. She was a supporting act on Sting's 2019 European Arena tour and the opening act for the 2021 McFly tour. Chinchilla has also played some big European music festivals. Her songs "Cold Water" and "Shadows [Tails]" are beautiful, but her entire catalog is worth listening to. Here is the link to her YT channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCZc7gfR6BH-mGJh0_EgHAIQ I hope you will continue to dive into Ren's and Chinchilla's catalogs.
Conversations are starting to happen. It's a beautiful thing to see just the impact REN is making. I've buried both of my children. I taught them well.
Kjc Ile I was so so stunned by your comment. My soul aches for you. I just buried my mother in February. Just like every choice she made in life, she very intentionally made this choice too. My brothers and I have made it this far, and I don't believe any of us thought we would. Our mama was very sick and she raised us on her own, in spite of her myriad mental health issues. Although it made for a very frightening, desperate childhood, often full of dread, none of us ever doubted we were loved. I cannot express to you how much I wish for your grief to not strangle your family. I cannot say more earnestly how much I hope that your burdens will be eased. I sincerely wish for you to find and realize true peace. My mother told us almost daily that every event that happened to us and would happen in our lives, whether it was joyous or full of despair, was just another in a long string of lessons we, ourselves, had planned out and chosen to learn •with those souls who could teach us these specific things the very best• before we were even born. We never never lose those who we love. We are tied to one another forever.
This was a really good reaction, dude. Nice that you can take the time to appreciate the music aspects of it. But, then to be able to set that aside. To allow the lyrics and music as a whole to touch you. This was a stellar performance. It's not just the way their voices compliment each other. It's the CONNECTION they have with each other. Anyway, nice reaction. Look forward to seeing your next step in discovering the next side of Ren, you haven't seen yet.
This is the power of music, real REAL musicians / artists like Ren are speaking to our hearts and minds which is why there is such impact right now and Chinchilla such a beautiful voice and expressive performer....we can't get enough :-) thank you for your honest reaction, beautiful things are happening !
Yup...Ren the music MONSTER NONE OF US knew we needed...and none of us saw coming! Ren is a genius lyricist..a phenomenal artist and I hope and pray for him to heal 100% and above all stay INDEPENDENT! Song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Ren is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Reaction is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ...thanks man...I appreciate you 🎉🎉🎉
Two absolute superstars showing off their skills with the most amazing song. No matter how many times I hear it I still get goosebumps. Great reaction, thank you.
I always end up like you when i hear this song, My best bud took his life when we were at uni . your reactions are just the best sir, i'm glad i found your channel out of the thousands of reaction videos because you are genuine.
Nice one Jeremy, I subscribed a bit ago as I enjoy watching fellow musicians react. Well done on popping up that helpline number too. Peace and love from Scotland.
When you said the word “devastating” I burst into tears and I am not a crier. I have been in that place in my bed and prayed like I never have before. “Hallelujah, where is my God, where are you “ and I felt completely alone
God I love this. Firstly, rens performance is imo his finest, when he sings " where is my God where are you?" and the next two lines that follow, his voice just wow! And Chinchilla takes no prisoners when she delivers, just beautiful to watch, the both of them. P.S love the Puscifer top❤
I’ve been watching reaction videos, just searching for someone to point out his voice in that line. So so powerful and moving. So much talent in one performance!
Thing is, no matter how many times I watch the chills don't go, and when he raps the joy never fades. Both of these wonderful people are going to be huge.
I like the Puscifer hoodie. The last time i felt this way about a musician was hearing Maynard for the first time on JJJ radio back in the early 90s. If it wasnt for reaction videos i'd have never discovered Ren. I like how humble he has been and how thankful he has been towards reaction content creators for introducing people to his work and promoting his songs. It's and oddly symbiotic relationship.
I love Ren's music & his spirit. He deserves so many good things. His collaborations with other people are nothing short of incredible. Thank you for sharing the Suicide Hotline info. There are so many lonely people in this world to whom just a kind word can make all the difference ❤
Such a lovely reaction! FYI Chinchilla has announced she is dropping new music on 21st April - she has a teaser and its FIRE - already going viral - Little Girl Gone
Thank you for showing the suicide help line. Many people need to know they aren’t alone. REN’s effect on many of his listeners is so profound and shows us we aren’t the only ones suffering. I have become addicted to his music in just a few weeks. You should also listen to his band “the big push”. Great straight on rock covers and a few of their own songs. Long way from busking on the streets of Brighton, England. This guy will be huge.
Great 👍🏻. Glad you’re enjoying our home grown talent ✊🏻 🏴 🏴 ( 🇬🇧) ! He’s just posted that he’s up for 4 categories at the Czech Music Awards - next the world 🌍!
The symbolism of these lyrics, and the actual song being a duet. It immediately humanises the struggle, shows that someone else is experiencing the exact same, giving a female side, turning pain and fear into something beautiful. Find someone you can harmonise with, whether literally or figuratively. It helps.
Ren sung this first from his bedroom and the end in tears 😢😢 As a 55 yr old dude I was shedding tears when I first heard this beautiful song. Chinchilla recently opened for Sting on tour. Her voice is sooooo good!! Great reaction 🙏👍
I would really love to see a couple reactors throw Chinchilla some love and react to Fingers. She's a force ... this one is just .... if you've been in this moment ... this is it in a track. For those that know ... no explanation need be given. For those that don't? This track's your best bet.
I would get the live version she has on her YT-channel of Fingers, but I also really love Elements...she is freaking special, different, bold and just plain amazing!
This song hits me so hard. Ive list too many people. I really recommend Scroobius Pip - "Magicians Assistant" (about self harm) Carbon Carousel - "Skinny" (about eating disorders) Eyedea - "Hayfever" (a dog being put to sleep, from the pov of the dog and the owner) Shad K - "A Story No-one Told" (the long happy life lived before death) Shane Koyzcan - "My Darling Sara"
oh you are in Seattle? I lived on top of Queen Anne for 4 yrs going to the Art Institute of Seattle...loved the city, clubbing at the Mercury and Noc Noc (that one sadly doesn't exist anymore) this was early 2000s... left in 2007 after my sister passed.
We used to live in Seattle about 6 years ago…but we were only out there for a few video shoots and a photography workshop I was hosting. We travel around quite a bit.
Check out Ren’s band The Big Push amazing covers, mash ups and originals. I recommend I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip hop brilliant! I love your reactions. Thanks man.

Absolutely sublime Chinchilla. Incredible ❤

Please do elements! That's my favorite!
I think it's really important to know that Joe had tried to get help. In the week or so before he jumped, he had tried to admit himself to the hospital, but was refused because he was drunk. There were also multiple attempts by his friends and family to help.

Thank you for this background, and for the nice compliment, Beth. Anything I can do to help.
That is absolutely fucked up. Most suicides are committed when under the influence, usually alcohol. That is especially when you should take someone serious.
Watching Ren reactions is addictive, because his music opens people up. And it's beautiful to share that with each other. Shared the goosebumps.
Well said
Agreed. I'm on night number 3 of ren reactions.
Found you on wolf's reaction to Ren's shoutout for people to sub to his channel.

Oh man!!! I didn’t k ow that. Geeze. I’m kind of glad I didn’t know that at the beginning….this would have been very tough to make it through.
I didn’t need to know this… I already cry enough when I listen to this song.
His vocal control considering the location and history is unreal. You can tell he's working hard.
You know a song's great when it gives a death metal guitarist chills. 🤘 😎🤘
Thank you for including the helpline number. Yours is the first reaction I've seen to do that for this song and it is a lovely, caring touch.
Thank you. Anything I can do to help.
Their synergy is unreal, such versatile performers who are best experienced through both watching and listening
