    Never seen anyone spin for mackeral with a grip lead before.😅😅😅. I use a heavier lure as a weight so you have a chance of a bass on that which is quite effective. Tends to sink slower so you can retrieve slowly or sit higher in the water.

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  Год назад

      Yep grip leads are great! Create more of a fizz in the water ! Alan Yates told me that in 1989. Did you watch the part in the video where I talked about using a lure as weight ? 😅😅😅

    well boys fished pembrey beach on february thursday the 24th, high tide 18.40. 7.1. started fishing the tide out till low tide and fished it in, bait lug and razor clam and mackerel. using a two up rig with 4, 0 hooks, second rod small hooks 2.0 for flatty fish, 3 and a half bass on the pully rig on the second rod 3 flatty, one just under a pound the second 3 and a haif, the last on just over 2 pound plus put all fish back, so boys get down to pembrey beach because the bass are coming in and the flatty fish are to :) good luck boys

    Hi Matt this Seaford fishing video made me to start fishing in Seaford too. Thank you for uploading your videos. I just have some questions. So you are using Sabiki rig for Mackerel and than you switched to float using the same rod. How do you do it? Have you got your float rig ready and you just use clips to switch it on the main line with the leader line? Or you don t use leader line at all while using the float?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  Год назад

      Great welcome! I will do a video to explain this. However its easiest to have a length of florocarbon ready with a hook that your clip on after tying the float on. However sepperate rod best especially using live mackerel as bait

  • @justintime1307
    @justintime1307 Год назад +1

    Bit of a novice for a beach rod so may sound daft.
    Do you use a tippet length off the end of your line for a beach rod??
    I do have braided line but unsure what setup I need.
    Have had a beach rod for some time but always end up out flyfishing, stick with what I've done for decades

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  Год назад +1

      Yes, called a leader.A tapered leader much better, similar advantages to your fly fishing tippet .20 ft worth though ! On occasion I fish braid of50-60lb straight through-pros and cons

Was pretty rough sea with waves, but saw the Gulls bobbing in and some whitebait splashes so thought I would give it a go, did not stay around for long. Caught on home made rig using small luminous eels and shrimps instead of feathers, also good for Pollack off the end of Stone Jetty mentioned above.
