    I could have used a tester like that this weekend identifying a couple of spare cable in my Dad' house. Thanks

    Working for Charter Spectrum, I use the one they provide, but I thoroughly prefer this Klein for multiple room jobs. Especially when hooking up internet and phone.

      Yes, Spectrum has a robust list of tools they provide, but I still Like using third party devices Like this Klein tool (which they don't have available)

    First thing I’d add for a second release of this video, at least for people like me, is a suggestion to carry a notepad along and write down the room/test node pairings in order to minimize the chance for human error. Oh, also, have some painters tape & Sharpie available to get the lines temporarily labeled immediately on identification. No reason to risk getting them mixed-up.

      Its called Klein Tools coax explorer on Amazon. This model seems to be obsolete since they list a coax explorer 2.

    yo man, if the 3rd line you tested outside (the open circuit) was still connected to a TV or Modem would it show a short? and or would it damage the TV ect..ect.. in any way?

    • @itstheACE562
      @itstheACE562  5 лет назад +3

      On some devices the LED will light up red when it detects a short (cable connected to a tv) - the electrical signal is not strong enough to damage a television. Only enough electrical charge to light up the LED & LEDs don't need that much

  • @pancholopez3978
    @pancholopez3978 Год назад

    First step of conecting the color heads that’s each but when you go to the main box where you have more than 100 cables that are connected to the board how do you test them without discente y one by one?

    • @itstheACE562
      @itstheACE562  Год назад +1

      You want to start with the cables that are not connected first. This tool I recommend for jobs where there is less than 10 cables you would need to identify. Anything more than that I recommend a probe & toner set

  • @backrack01
    @backrack01 2 года назад +1

    What does short mean? Could it just be the coax cable I used to test the coax in the wall was bad?

    • @itstheACE562
      @itstheACE562  2 года назад +3

      A "Short Circuit"
      That means 1) that the Coax you are testing is actually connected to a powered device (television, Set-top box, Etc), & it reads SHORT, because it's detecting power in the line.
      2) the coax is damaged or cut and somehow, the braid (negative) is making contact with the center conductor (positive); this will cause a short

    you can just take the splitter and put it on the splitter so you won't have to take it to the side every time I hook up and my main one always put it on this litter

  • @KAT-pi3pk
    @KAT-pi3pk 6 месяцев назад

    Does this tool work when there are splitters in the line? Most don't.

    • @itstheACE562
      @itstheACE562  6 месяцев назад

      You will get false readings. You will need to identify and remove the splitter. The lines I'm toning were connected to a splitter after i was done identifying the lines

      @@itstheACE562Thank you for your response. There are many times that splitters are buried in the walls. I wish I could find a tool that worked when they are present.

    A simple coax outlet on the inside of your house can be used for cable or internet right there is no only cable or only internet?

    • @ManguPapi
      @ManguPapi 3 года назад

      It can work for video or internet. If you want a cable tv in that outlet then it'll work for video. If it's for internet, then it'll work for that too. If you want both in that same outlet you'll need a splitter to split the signal for both. One single coax connection can carry video, data, & voice.

  • @minnesotajack1
    @minnesotajack1 4 года назад

    Will this work in the other direction?
    What I mean is, I’m trying to see how many rooms one outlet feeds for an OTA antenna. So one connection outside the house may work for several rooms with an ota. I aM aware of the signal loss in splitting from an ota. There’s no real way of knowing how strong the signal is until I hook each room up an run a channel scan

    • @itstheACE562
      @itstheACE562  4 года назад

      Last I have heard, was that the new SWiM system they were planing on launching, would handle up to 32 channels. That was roughly a year and a half ago.
