Do what my co-worker Paul does if you live/work near a Lego store. Get a job at a Lego store and work a couple hours a week/once a day along with your regular job. Lego store employees get 30% off at first and 50% after 90 days.
If you can’t get a job there, like I couldn’t, try having a friend who does! My very good friend works for the Lego store, my friends got me the Dobby from last year for my birthday and it wasn’t even out yet! Besides the 30% discount they got. And whenever I want I tell him I want a set and he gets for me with the discount price :)
despite what everyone thinks i am a massive fan of the 2021-2022 sets, they do make a fantastic display if you know how to do it right, very expensive and very worth it
Where can I find instructions on how to get the "fantastic display" you're talking about? Considering going this direction for getting my Hogwarts castle
I've found that the Potions mistake set are great for modding into other rooms, also you can sell the unwanted mini figs for around the same price as the set so you get the room for free. I've turned bought about 8 of them and modded them into classrooms (using the books accesories to modify the room) also an extra part of the bathroom so I could put a Troll in it, and the Prefects bathroom (complete with diving board, book accurate) 😁😁
I want the Astronomy tower and the clock tower but I've been getting into Harry Potter lately and I kinda want that micro scale now reading the books makes me want them
As a Lego Star Wars fan, Lego Harry Potter just has so much more value to it and you can tell the designers are passionate about each set. The Lego Star Wars designers penny pinch like crazy and have lost their luster for the theme entirely. If you have to choose which theme on a budget I'd say go Harry Potter line. Just so much more going on there in every aspect.
After I watched the movies last year, I quickly became a big Harry Potter fan, since then, I’ve felt the need to buy every set lol. So now my wallet hates the theme, even though I love it😂 Also: You got a sponsor! Good for you!
Shame you missed out on some awesome sets from when the theme relaunched in 2018 😢 I’ve been getting the Harry Potter sets from the very first wave in 2001!
@@CorporalFriendlyShark I know. I’m very fortunate that HP sets tend to last a long time, but there were a lot that retired just a month before I became a fan. The ones that get on my nerves the most are the CMFs. A lot of those are so expensive now😕
I am only collecting the sets that can connect to the 2021 Chamber of Secrets build and the classroom sets. I’ll get the smaller sets if there’s a figure or two that I’d like to display in the Castle. The only set that doesn’t fit into a Hogwarts setting that I have is 4 Privet Drive.
Me personally. I found the magical trunk looks amazing paired with the large scale Harry and Hermione. Definitely looks good as a back to Hogwarts mix.. I am only sad that Ron was never released because no one liked the set… now feels very disjointed. Still love them though… fun build.. The magical trunk I agree is very small. With more play factor than actual display. Its a fun piece though. For me the Knightbus is my absolute favourite and I am lucky to own all the ones so far released. Which is fun to compare the difference in build.
I'm a massive fan of the style of old harry potter sets. I really think they look awesome and I like the creativity of the design even if it's less accurate than modern sets. Sets like 2004's Draco's Encounter with Buckbeak, 2001's Forbidden Corridor, 2002's Chamber of Secrets and Slytherin, and 2005's Harry and the Hungarian Horntail, are so freaking cool and none of them have been matched by modern sets.
The video definitely helped me narrow down what I would really want from Lego Harry Potter thank you. I'm so tempted to buy either the 2018 Hogwarts express train or the castles seeing that I was very sick at the time (not both, I'm trying to also buy the modular buildings lol). I'm just so nostalgic for that wave of sets, there was something really special about them imo.
With Lego getting so pricey nowadays, I really don't know what the next HP set I'll get will be. I've already got some cheaper sets I like: Rise of Voldemort, Knight Bus, Room of Requirement, and the first and latest Advent Calenders. Got plenty of the cmf figures, but not a ton of space for them. I'm tempted to get one big castle set to display figs in, possibly the 2018/9 Great Hall or Clock Tower as I prefer them to the newer versions. It's strange because there's so much I want the HP line to do, but I just don't know if my wallet, space or actual interaction with sets will allow to do.
Holly, you should make a video (when you get back) about how to collect LEGO and make your money back. I really what to buy a set to later sell. Great Segway!
i just started collecting in december 2021 and one thing i really like about fluffy encounter is how easy it is to moc! i turned the large room into a kitchen using pieces from the potions hogwarts moments set and the 2021 advent calendar, and i've turned the balcony room into mcgonagall's office. also bought some extra seaweed + plant pieces off bricklink and now my devil's snare room looks so good. definitely not the best set on its own but i love how i ended up using it in the end!
This is exactly what I needed!!! I recently watching the Harry Potter series and really wanted to get some Lego sets!!! It’s official I’m a POTTERHEAD!!!
This video is great timing for me. I just brought the bookshop and that set is really expensive so I really need to start saving money for the new sets which are coming out soon! Love your videos!👍
Sorry of topic here but thought you might see this here faster than on earlier videos. Lego haul video couple days ago you mentioned that you cleaned used sets you buy. What do you use and how exactly do you do it? I worry about degradation or dulling the parts so I haven't tried to clean any yet. And I need to so I can build them😁. Maybe a video on that subject? Idk. I'd watch it. Anyways thanks. Keep the videos coming. Love em!
Got myself Hogwarts Castle 71043. I just think the value of it, 'show off' factor, but also it is complete and everything is nicely in order, and not seperate like other sets. Also it's discounted. And while i love harry potter, i also love castles, it's this combination that makes the set extra desirable. Also 25% discount on it, for 352€, and 6000 pieces (even if micro), it beats many other sets.
I already have the potions mistake and fluffy's encounter and planning on getting the chamber of secrets but I also want the $400 hogwarts castle. Should I go head and get the chamber of secrets or get the $400 hogwarts castle.
I think they are great for figures if you don’t have the existing students and when you get multiple make a good display, one on its own not so much but two or more, yes
Nice video, it is not as much on a budget that doesn't work for Lego, than you have to buy the fake stuff. I think you are really nicely explaining what different routes you can follow in making a collection. I find it sad that golden Snape is in the chess set.
Maybe a weird take but I like the Hogwarts Icons set the most. Maybe just be me but it grabs more things from the series I love than lets say a the buildings.
LOL, the thumbnail shows Diagon Alley 10217. Lowest price is around $450 because everyone wants to rip people off on Ebay. Even the second version is insanely overpriced because they rereleased several buildings rather than just add to the existing set. That's why I never bought the second version.

How often can he use the discounts?
@@navetopp4505 Whenever you want. For new releases you have to wait about a month to purchase them discounted though.

Perhabs i would like to see some photos😇😇
I'm just starting my collection and this video was incredibly helpful. Thank you Holly!
I love the beginners series 👍 I’m so excited for the this summer wave 👍
I loved this video, congratulations on the sponsor Holly!

Eh both lines suffer. For example: the 2021 wave was pretty mediocre and kinda pointless.

I feel sorry for you that you haven't seen the films before.
But I also feel happy that you've now seen them.
i am currently into three completely different lego themes and i am very split on what ones to collect due to two of them being VERY expensive
I usually just collect the older sets (2001-2011) for the nostalgia.
I normally love them to play with. They have so many fun play features.

Omg I couldn't imagine not having the icon set. I love hidwig I think that's why and it is an amazing display peice.

Ooh sponcerships, fun!
For me, I'm getting the HP books you can build. I find those more enjoyable...even if the stickers can be a pain.

What is wrong with the Hogwarts Express is that Harry has short legs unlike Hagrids Hut which are both Prisoner of Azkaban
I think the best ones to invest in are the 2018-2020 line and the 2024 line
Can you do this for other LEGO themes like Marvel, Friends, Creator 3 in 1 and Expert, Minecraft, Super Mario, Ideas,Architecture, and more.

Is that the Lego House *shouts in doofenshmirtz* BRICK MAKING INATOR in the background
Yes it is

Just bought 4 2006 Batman sets the other day. I will never financially recover from it.
They should make a "Cale-Scale" Hogwarts
I’m a clector just like holly

Low time preference, boys. Ridiculous Amazon and large toy retailers deals happening are almost guaranteed.
I'm a completeness so I spent alot
Oh boy she got sponsors now. I mean gotta pay off the bills right?
Yes, I am a beginner at purchasing items. Tell me, how do you all do it?
I am pretty sure that they have extended the retirement for the Hogwarts castle. I believe it is now retiring in 2024
Just me or is the sound in this video not good. Like a bit "tin can"-y?
