  • First train seen is a S773 Sand train heading North at Munger, this would go into the siding at Coons, after the train cleared Munger, I noted a train lined out of the Scale Track at Adolph and Carsons. I thought this was a loaded limestone train that I caught earlier in the afternoon. To my surprise I discovered it wasn't. But a U716 empty taconite with an SD40-2W leading an IC SD40-2, and CN SD40-3. This was my first taconite train I chased on the Iron Range, as I drove up from the Twin Cities only hours earlier. After the Munger Runby, I went up to Saginaw to shoot the U714 empty limestone train heading South. After that went by I went back down to N Coons to shoot the U716 starting out of the siding. And then finally went up to Burnett at the Milepost 26 curve to shoot the final runby. This was only the beginning of the 5 day trip and journey on the Iron Range. 3/24/2023
