"After six long years, Forza Motorsport is off the lift and back in our lives. It looks great, feels great, sounds great, and it’s brought with it the most impressive multiplayer we’ve seen in the series so far. With 500 cars and 20 track locations it’s hardly a small start but, now positioned as a platform, Forza Motorsport has the potential to expand into a seriously rich racing destination over the coming years. If Flight Simulator on four wheels is the plan, I’m here for it. First on the list of improvements Turn 10 should focus on is revamping the new RPG-inspired upgrade system that turns progression into an unnecessarily long road ahead of each individual car, and maybe bringing back the joys of split-screen multiplayer racing to complement the excellent online modes."

No split screen actually blows. Was really looking forward to running this game when friends come over.
There’s a lot missing from the game like Tag in multiplayer and the ability to change each individual vehicle in free play

Flight Simulator on 4 wheels might be the most exciting thing I've heard about FM.

4:05 To see the reflection of the driver's arms in the windshield fading in and out depending on the location of the street lights is just amazing. So much attention to detail.
Well Project CARS 2 ever did this before.
They concentrated so much on Ray Tracing, they forgot about actual graphics. Everything looks washed out. Black colored bumpers look grey. Even Digital Foundry is saying GT7 would mostly win in graphics

Nearly every game has this wtf. Why be so impressed by a decade old reflection mechanic?
No festival setting. Not having to drive for several minutes to actually race. No annoying voices. This is the real upgrade.
Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport are 2 very different series of games

Thank you for talking about the competitive multiplayer, that's where I'll be spending my time and was most worried they would find some way to do a bottle job on.
It's not competitive. Just put the game into full driving assist and it plays for you lol ranking up your safety score
Man. Luke's points on the CARPG remain the standout complaint. The moment it was mentioned by Chris Esaki some time back, we almost all went "huh? Why gate upgrades?" This hurts, not helps their philosophy imho. Hopeful they can update/tweak it in future updates. Regardless, very pumped to play later today. Smashing work as always, Luke. Always a fan.
They really could simply adjust event payouts and part costs as a gating mechanic tbh.
More freedom and actually makes sense in a racing game.
Shame you can do one long 12 lap custom race and unlock everything eh ,moaning like a little btch instead of using some sense , -IQ award
The fix it's the most simple, they overdone it, they should limit car points for each level but keep all upgrades available, therefore you need to level up not to unlock upgrades, but be able to afford it and be able to choose one big upgrade that eats all your CP or several small ones

@@fifteen8850 Totally true. Context is also important, as it's definitely worth remembering that GT7 reviewers (myself included) got stitched up with how the full extent of its appalling microtransaction system was obscured during the review period.

Forza Motorsport 8 car list is 36 less than in FM7. FM7 have 604.

The skating/understeering issue was ridiculous especially when you know how the car drives IRL too. Glad they fixed it!! 7 out of 7
The understeer and handling unpredictability made me give up on Forza. This one looks better
And that’s not including Game pass releases or other first party releases like Age of Empires 2 DE, Age of Empires 4, Quake remastered and Minecraft Legends!

I'm lucky enough to be able to play this and GT7. The more choice and competition for us sim-cade racing fans, the better!

Yes, one of the big appeal with Forza use to be that it's completely open, allowing you to buy whatever car with whatever parts as long as you have the budget.

Unfortunately, he's completely unaware of how little content the game has. Go and play FM4 (2011) and see how much content is gone. This game is shockingly bad and bare bones, with loads of bugs - absolutely zero play testing.
Gating the upgrades isnt something im worried about. An enthusiast like myself would rather take a car and run it from stock to gt class, one or two mods at a time. Buying or winning a car and going straight to fully modded kind of takes the piss out of it imo.

This dude played a completely different game than me...game is filled with bugs.
The grind fest for each car even for duplicate cars is killing it for personally.

FH5 had complaints that cars are too easy to obtain and/or being spoon fed to the player. Now there's work to be done to unlock cars, people complain that it's a grind fest

You’re misrepresenting the review. He says clearly it’s the best-feeling game in the Forza Motorsports series… and then a whole review follows that highlights both strengths and shortcomings. Give the console war a rest sometime.

@@turkeyleg1because gt7 has rolling starts in the campaign. In forza you have closer races against ai, that's all he meant. Gt7 is all "start last get first". He didn't mean the physics obviously 😂

The omission of splitscreen is a massive disappointment. Local play adds an absolutely enormous amount of value to a game- look at Baldur's Gate 3 for instance. That game is insanely popular among solo players and couch couples/friends alike

@@86lanzo Not sure what kind of evidence you need but myself, many of my friends and family are doing it aswell as it being self evident on video distribution channels such as RUclips. It's a great game to play in splitscreen with somebody, simple as that. It's a great feature.

Wanted to see some more weather conditions but I'm still picking it up regardless, hopefully the safety ratings will keep the traditional Forza rammers out of my races

Fun game. A must on gamepass also. Not sure what the Heartburn is about expect for that’s just par for the course with a lot of peeps.

Yes, the return of my beloved Dodge Stealth! Not since Forza Motorsport 4 has it been in a video game. Sure it's the '96 R/T Turbo, and not my personal '91 ES, but I'll take it! This game just went to an instant Game Pass download.

So what was with the trailers showing car models from older titles? Does the released game have proper new models in their place, like the Lancer Evo VI?
Old is gold. Personally I'm just looking to get some sweet tunes on some of my favourite old cars and take em online. Although I'll have to grind that car level to upgrade for a while. Looking forward to it though. Ford Sierra cosworth etc.

What’s the point of having Aussie cars without Bathurst on launch, you’d think that’d be a no brainer. 😮
That alone will turn some Aussie players off until it’s released.
Love this game. And the upgrade system works for me. Previous Forza games become boring real quick. Cause within a couple of hours you had a ton of cars upgraded to the max and the thrill and challange was gone. The step in the right direction for me is getting it closer to a GRAN Turismo feel.
A lot of people are adult's with responsibilities though and having to level up each individual car is an unnecessary barrier. I'm just one person, but they just lost my money and I've been looking forward to this game.

Now people like me who know EXACTLY how they want their cars set up have to provide Microsoft with engagement hours.

Xbox players complained and then they updated it and put GT7 in 120fps 1080 mode and Forza in quality mode. GT7 still looked better

Came back to this review after playing the most recent update. Every part is now available to equip regardless of car level. (though you do still need to level up the car and earn car points if you want to equip a larger number of parts for said car)

My biggest gripe is the paint/decals, as it hasn't changed at all. With the focus on the paint being so nuanced and detailed, it's disappointing they did nothing to showcase it with any sort of color or spectrum creator, and they've left their tired decal modeling system as-is. No new vinyls or anything.
Opportunity missed.
Fairly sure FM4 had more decals - animals - that have gone. Not to mention car auctions, clubs, mini games, hosting online races (now it's Turn 10's poor selection only), all your content on your profile for others to visit and DL. The design creator camera doesn't zoom in as much now either. It's sad how basic FM is now.
Neither has the wheels, nothing regarding exhaust.

This game is missing so many features from the 6 year old Forza Motorsport 6, no drift lobbies or even an offline mode for drifting and the graphics look like crap, there are these super low resolution reflections on the cars that look worse than Motorsport 7
Lots of games released today seems to be rushed and unpolished. Just lots of promotions and early access ads from youtubers.
If any developers are watching the reviews, don't listen to IGN. The RPG aspect of this game is awesome. Do not remove that change.
It looks absolutely beautiful. Every new racing game looks impressive to me, but this is just pure eye candy.

A lot of people complain about how cars lack traction. Even high downforce GT cars. Also the traction loss falls off suddenly. Also Forza does count some cars twice with their "Forza Edition" cars.

It basically means that this will be the last traditional Forza game for a long time. They will continue to update this game as time goes on in addition to more forza horizon games.

can confirm that this is one of the first Forza games I’ve actually picked up. It’s amazing anybody who wants to give it a try it’s definitely worth it you gain experience quite fast as well.

Hahaha, it's all part of my 20-year plan to encourage more other racing developers to stuff Australian cars into their games, too. All credit to Turn 10 and Playground; these studios are far and away the best at it. Seriously, what other racer can you take EB Falcons and VL Commodores up against the other Group A-era cars? And what other racer has stuff like the A9X, or the VH Charger? Forza does a lot of things right but yeah, this continues to be one of the big ones for me.
The upgrade system ruins this game and kills its playability
