I have a clear memory of my first encounter with Mr. Cuddles, I was at the mountains looming for Cyclops blueprints, and then I heard a roar, me being naive and optimistic chalked it up to a stalker or a bone shark.
Boy was I wrong, he grabbed me, my Seamoth was fine, all I remember is screaming in the middle of the living room with my whole family there. To this day, no matter how strong I am I still don't go near the mountains nor any place with reapers, I've never gone to the Dunes. Ever. That's how afraid I am.

My most terrifying memory /experience in SubNautica was when I attempted to see what was in the depths of the Crater Edge with my Cyclops. Nothing obviously, but I didn't know that at the time as it was my first playthrough. I had previously attempted to swim across it by my lonesome self at night thinking that a light spec in the distance was a reachable location. I eventually gave up and swam back as I was not getting any closer (obviously) and my AI warned me of the extreme dangers. Later on I had finally at long last built myself the Cyclops. It was quite the exciting achievement for me at the time and I used it for pretty much all travel between my bases and had many resources on it. Eventually I decided to check out the Crater Edge again. But THIS time I had my Cyclops with ALL the Depth Modules included. Curiosity got the better of me and I really wanted to see if there was anything down there. For all I knew there could have been something important down there and I didn't really think much about the perfectly shear edge. (*cough cough* generic edge of map stuff)
So down I went at a respectable clip when, not one but THREE Ghost Leviathans one after another started pounding my sub. I'm sure you can just imagine the sheer terror I experienced when I saw them for the first time threw the forward porthole. I think I even let out a yelp. After I got over my shock and fear I then frantically shut off my sub's engines and all of my sub's external and internal lights thinking that they would attract the monsters out side. After putting out all of the fires I then sat at the helm for several long minutes trembling in fear as I watched the Ghost Leviathans circling around me and the Critical Hull Integrity alarm going off. Eventually I built up enough courage to exit the my sub so that I could repair the damage. As the Leviathans were still there I had to dodge all over the place and make several trips back inside for a quick moment of respite. After it was fully repaired (and it was a miracle that I never died) I then slowly and ULTRA cautiously started to make my way back to the surface by starting engines in silent mode, rising up a couple meters, then stopping engines for a few minutes to let the Leviathans calm down. It took multiple jumps and it was super intense and stressful the entire time but I was eventually able to safely get back to the surface with minimal damage.
This game seems to have a way of punishing you for making stupid mistakes and this time (and I'm still not quite sure how) I made it out scot free with only a slap on the hand. This was by far my most terrifying experience in SubNautica to date. Its experiences like these that make this so much fun and exiting, even games that were suppose to be scary didn't scare me half as much as this game did or keep me so much on edge when I first played it.

I love the ghost leviathans, they are scary if you don't know where they are(the sounds are awesome), but if you want to challenge yourself you can try to kill one, did it once, and then started building the rocket in the void xD. It was like I had an audience to see me leave

i love the time capsule idea in the game.
i had a time capsule that literally made me emotional.
i found it in the dunes so i was pretty stressed with reapers roaring around me.
it had a statis rifle and a few pieces of magnetite in it, and the picture was a screenshot of a reefback leviathan at night being observed from an observatory room.
    the description said
“You know, sometimes, your mind plays tricks on you. It can tell you you’re no good, that its all hopeless. But, I’ve discovered this. You are loved. And Important. You bring to this world things no one else can… So hold on.
literally calmed me for the rest of my exploration in the reaper infested biome and i made it home and took a picture of the time capsule because it was the first ever one to make me smile.

I got the game years ago when it was still in very early access (no ship blowing up, can't remember how the islands looked) but even then it looked too amazing for me to pass
I then proceeded to forget about it for like 4 years, and when I came back to it 1 or 2 years ago, words can't explain how amazed I was.
The game is good, yes, but comparing it with my past experience of it made it way better imo
I'm not a big fan of what they did with the sequel (below zero), a bit too linear imo compared to the first one (the main character talks, you're guided everywhere, ...) but it's still a very good game, and I'm happy they didn't give up on the main game after that :)

My playtime spans over 1000+ hours across both games, which is crazy for a singleplayer experience. Such a beautifully crafted Masterpiece. I have probably seen about 10 new players playthroughs and i still love people picking up the Game. The only thing that got a bit dull is knowing literally every single rock on the map and every random PDA fact possible, hence why i started playing around with Mods like De-Extinction and Deathrun to renew my Experience. I couldnt be more thankful to Unknown Worlds and the Community for creating a true classic.

It was so eerie to explore mile by mile, depth by depth, yet my curiosity of this underwater world was carrying me to new potentially dangerous places. I got so connected to main character that I felt pretty dreadful playing as when exploring every wreck knowing they was blown out of main ship Aurora. Very unique experience.
Today is still my favorite game. Started modding it 2 years ago to diverse my new playthroughs.

I really like this video, as you mentioned, there's just something so fun about watching people play/ talk about this game. I think the first person I watched play was Markiplier and I found out he'd played from Jacksepticeye, so I went and watched his playthrough and it just looked like so much fun. I am not good at games at all, so I never thought I'd play but they made it look so fun I ended up buying the game last year. It was the first game outside of Sims that I played and finished. I loved the fear and thrill of exploring deeper and deeper because watching is nothing compared to others. I subscribed and I hope to see more cool videos from you🙂

From the deep sea, to the monsters, to the outstanding soundtrack I almost never played without headphones and I enjoyed every moment of it. And alot of moments I had I have probably over 100+ hours on it and still haven't beat it yet 😅 there was one time my game crashed after I was playing for 4 hours straight I was heart broken. I absolutely agree with what you said at the end. This game is so easy to watch other people play. My first experience completing the story was actually through my partner. I had initially been shown the game in early access by a good friend of mine, and had been playing it long before official release. When it did release, I tried to complete the story myself, but due to some pretty bad thalassophobia, I could never make it past the grand reef without noping out and going back to creative. So I introduced my partner to the game. Watching him experience it for the first time was almost like myself experiencing it for the first time again, and it made the experience so much better. He streamed it on discord for me so I could hear what he heard through my headset and I just sat comfy in my chair while watching him play spooky game's story for me. I would guide him when he got lost, and give him hints when he felt confused, and together we completed the story for the first time.
Later, I did complete it myself on stream, because I had the viewers (including my partner) with me to encourage me to keep going so I was able to overcome my crippling anxiety and keep diving deeper. The prawn suit helped immensely.
I love unknown worlds for their dedication, talent, and their ability to listen to the players and own up to failures, to turn said failures to successes. This will forever be my favorite game, and I hate water

One of the terrifying things happened to me while playing was just roaming the world searching for kyanite (didn’t know abt the lava zone at that time) and then reached the end and when I saw the bottomless dark I wondered "what is this biome?" And I was terrified a bit but said "man what could go wrong" and then I swam forward not to the bottom and when I heard the PDA saying "entering ecological dead zone" I freaked out and started swimming to the main map and then promised myself that I’d never go back there whatever the cost

My first memory was opening up that bottom hatch to climb out for the first time. Seeing that BEAUTIFUL rabbit ray swim by my feet had me itching to see the rest of the world. I followed that ray for a bit, taking pictures because it was so gorgeous. The reef was gorgeous. The soundtrack was gorgeous. Everything was gorgeous. Until Mr. Cuddles introduced himself. He was probably being nice, screaming out his salutations from across the way, and I think there was an invite to dinner at his place, but, to be honest, I can't tell you what he was trying to say because my own screams drowned out his own. I guess my accent was off, because the next thing I know, he's trying to kill me. Looking it up all these years later, I've discovered that my screams translated into something horrendously offensive and now all the Reapers know me as "that guy" and want to eat my face. Ah, memories.

Personally, the main reasons I love Subnautica are these:
1). Exploration: I LOVE seeing new places and diving deeper, finding thing I never noticed before; it fills me with such joy and excitement.
2). Lore: I love world building. I love seeing all the creatures, and plants, and ancient alien buildings that they've come up with. I love you learn more about this universe they've made.
3). Replayability: I've beaten Subnautica twice and I'm on my third playthrough of it, and I've beaten below zero once, and I'm on my second playthrough of that. And every time I play, I find things and discover information that I never caught before.
4). Water: I love water and what is under it so, so much. I love aquariums, I love fish, I love sea animals, I love the way water refracts light, I love everything about the ocean.
5). I don't get creeped out easily: what many people find spooky or creepy, I find interesting and exciting. I love the way ocean creatures look. I see big, glowy see-through creature, and I think it's pretty and want to know more about it. You bet I swam up to the big ghost leviathan, with all it's "scawy noises" and scanned it my first try. Only then, when it destroyed my seamoth, did I realize it was as dangerous as it was and that it was much more dangerous than the reaper leviathan. I kept my distance from it then, but I still think they're beautiful.

Very good video, I did not know about a lot of the backstory behind the game as I only started playing it after its full release, so that was quite interesting. Subnautica was literally my dream game because in others, like Minecraft, I always wanted to explore and build stuff underwater so discovering a game entirely dedicated to that was just amazing. I currently have over 450 hours in it and several large bases (some of which you can find on my channel if you're interested), it still remains my favourite game to this day.
Edit: I'd have to say my favourite memory is probably going down into the Blood Kelp Trench for the first time and suddenly hearing Lava Castle play (which is my favourite track in the game), such an ominous feeling. I unfortunately knew most of the game before I played it, but it was still pretty neat experiencing it for myself.

This is understandable, some enjoy playing nonstop, and some just enjoy it once and move on. Watching others play can also be a fun thing to do. Thanks for watching Roark :)

I remember playing with the nitro mod, although it was only mid last year I found a youtubers time capsule.

Wonder how they thought diving into the deep just to meet scary things was "fun". Fucking scary is what it is.

I wish I could go back and experience subnautica again, having the true feeling of not knowing what was out there, the fear of going to deep, having to peoce together lore through the pda. I wish I could experience it again
