Pleaaase watch the original animated version!! Uncle Iroh drops even more gems in the show, and you will get more information. It gets so much high praise for good reason!
I try to never get to excited for live actions or compare them too much with the originals because that is just setting yourself up for disappointment. Live actions will never hit 100% like the animations did because some things that are achievable in animation (facial expressions, magic, talking animals, some types of comedy, sometimes lines, choreography (dance or fights)) won't cross over well to live action. In my opinion all companies can do is create a good team, get talented *hard working* actors, and try to study the lore as much as possible. I will say I would like to know what happened that caused the creators of Avatar: the last airbender to not be involved but besides that I think they did a great job bringing a beloved show to live action. BTW love all your videos!!!

The fact that you binged for 6 hours helps me feel validated in my love of the live action. So many people were hypercritical. And it's just refreshing to see someone NEW react because you can appreciate it for what it is - not for what the cartoon is. And it's BRILLIANT.

Honestly most ppl who haven’t seen the OG , and have watched this do seem to enjoy this. Which is one of the good things abt bringing something to live action from animation. Your introducing the world to ppl who haven’t seen the animation yet cause they think animation is for kids (or just hasn’t seen it for another reason )
I mean it’s valid to give your opinion one what you do and don’t like and if you make something into a live action it makes sense to compare
@@StevesRankings for sure! That's the right of every viewer. I think there is just something refreshing about someone who isn't weighed down by expectation. An adaptation can be valid on its own without needing to be lesser than the source material.

Didn't realize how needed a genuinely blind reaction was! Avatar has a lot of fans and I don't blame any of them (okay I'll be honest...I am part of the them) for being vocal about opinions of the live action, but it's wildly refreshing to hear from someone who is completely unfamiliar with the story! I love it. watch out for spoilers though! for a story this popular and old, a lot of people assume that spoilers aren't a big deal.

Every time. Every time I watch the scene of Zuko consoling his uncle at the funeral and "Leaves From The Vine" starts to play it gets me!!! 😢😭😭
That episode makes me cry.
I couldn't handle it.
And it plays at the end when Zuko chooses to stay with Iroh over the Avatar 😢😢😢 bruh this is one of the ONLY reasons I dislike the Live Action. Sure it's iconic. But it's an Easter egg for the cartoons fans. New people like Billy just won't appreciate it. And some ATLA watchers probably won't even notice the remaster. But there's a lot of stuff that's put in the show that's just for og watchers which I love. But I hate bc new watchers can't appreciate it too. Not the shows fault tho, it's the audience. Cabbages guy, Bumi and the Rock Candy, Leaves From The Vine... These are things that could've been taken out and wouldn't have changed anything for the Live Action. Thx for giving us these. But my ex... Lol. a first time watcher made me feel so sad bc she didn't get the laughs or tears.
I watched with my sister. We've booth been fans of avatar since it was still airing as the cartoon. The SECOND I picked up on the melody I started sobbing. It wasn't until she picked up on it a few seconds later that she stopped asking why I was crying 🤣 it has a chokehold on my heart.

This show has been getting such mixed reviews, but I REALLY hope they get more seasons. Despite some missteps, it's obvious to me that everyone involved respect the original series.
It was number one on Netflix in 73 countries. We are getting a second season at least.
You should check out " the avatar cast answers the most googled questions on avatar the last airbender" , you can see how much the cast truely cared for the show and their characters

@@ReaperXxKHave you watched the animated shows leaves of the vine is a song about the death of iroh son I don’t remember if it was confirmed or a theory that iroh sees his son in zuko. Also it was an ode to one of the creators who had a loss in his real life

Ironically I started with the live action too cause I never watched the cartoon and binged it all last weekend. Yet when I tried to watch the cartoon I only got up to episode 4. It's too kidishly happy for my tastes. Same problem I had with the one piece live anime. The tones are just too different and if you don't like cartoons like me, it's hard to watch. So I hope the fans can let people who aren't into cartoons like this live action shows without screaming at us when we tell them we enjoy watching them.

Maybe you’ll never get into the cartoon, but I would say season 1 is the most kiddish out of all of the seasons. Season 3 is SO good! But if you never continue l hope they make all three seasons in live action so we can see all that will unfold 😊
@@africansweetheart9590 the animated series depends on the characters developments more, because at first they are childish but with time u can see them change and make hard decisions, its made for kids after all but the writing is so good i watched it as an adult and i loved it, they did a good job making the characters act like kids while also slowly realizing that the weight of the world is on them.

Haha, I was reading through the comments waiting for someone to bring this up. I know I'm 6 months late into watching the reactions but everytime he says their names wrong kills me! I love it.
I just love the fact that while watching Katara and Sukko argue on ep 4 Billy got angry that they were acting like siblings!!! He really said this is not the time nor the place😂
The way they added those flashbacks scenes of Iroh and Zuko brings more depth to their relationship and made me so emotional 🥹 thanks for watching this show!
so here's the things you might wanna know:
1. It's Appa, not yipyip, they say "yip yip" to tell Appa whenever they're going to fly. tho it's cute naming Appa yipyip😂❤
2. Aang's an avatar, just like all his reincarnations, he too must master an element first before he can use it. being the avatar means being able to master 4 elements, so u have to master it first. and that's why they're traveling, to find Aang's teacher.
3. In the animated series, those singers/musicians in the cave, and azula weren't supposed to be in season 1, they're supposed to appear in season 2 so it's actually good seeing them.
4. the badgermoles are the og earthbenders, the flying bisons are the og airbenders, the fire-breathing dragon are the og firebenders (though it's not seen here cuz it's on book 3) and the yin and yang fish are the og waterbenders.
The moon is the og water bender 😊
The yin and yang fish represent the moon spirit and the ocean spirit

Some people are determined to hate things because it's different from what they expected. There's a lot of good in the show. I think a lot of the changes make sense. Most of the failings of the show have to do with not having enough time to see the character relationships develop or in the case of Katara and Aang their bending skills.
idk what anybody is on but a fresh perspective without any pre-existing notions from the animated series is so refreshing to see! people have been judging the live-action too much bec theyve been comparing the two and not appreciating for what it is on its own fr these reactions of experiencing everything for the first time was so entertaining mans got me laughing at 2am! keep em coming billy!!

Bumi in the animated series was more likeable than Bumi in the live-action. I love Bumi and he was very powerful, a lot more powerful than the live-action portrays him to be. I didn't really like the Bumi in this live-action but apart from that, the live-action is good. Lovely reaction Billy😊😊 you should react to the first season of the animated series after this, its not that long and you'll enjoy it.
The amount of hate the Netflix version gets is astounding. Sure its not exactly like the animated series, but its its onw flavor and theres nothing wrong with it. I enjoy the more darker tone. Sure there are things I don't agree with or particularly like, but its done a much better job at portraying the cartoon/anime than the movie did.

When they are in the bar and the patrons are all saying different things they heard about the avatar, the pirates and the canyon guide, those are all callbacks to episodes of the animation that didn’t get translated to live action

Iroh and Zuko are the most compelling parts of this adaptation. You can tell the writers were really smitten with the Fire Nation because they have the best storytelling seen in this season (which is the only real complaint I have now that I’ve finished because Team Avatar and Aang himself I feel the least attach to)

As a fan of the tv show, I have only episode 8 left to watch but this live action has been amazing to me. You can tell it was created with a lot of care. In my opinion Netflix did a really good job here

I like how they switched it up, a made it a little darker and more serious. But I hope that doesn’t make you dislike the cartoon when you watch it because it fails to present itself like the live actio. The cartoon is very goofy, light hearted, and funny. All the characters, even the evil ones make jokes and are kiddish and wacky.

Seriously though, THANK YOU for watching the live action first. So many people say 'I don't think I'd like the live action if I hadn't seen the cartoon' and prove they aren't letting the adaptation stand on its own. But the adaptation is GOOD and is actually TRYING to stand on its own and not rely on the cartoon, which I respect, so it's refreshing to see someone who doesn't have previous experience get so sucked into it. The reason Aang can't use all 4 elements is because the Avatar is born with a single element & the other 3 must be learned
I grew up with the Avatar the last Airbender animated version but their are things that i like in the Netflix live action show and things i don't but all in all if i have to give the live action version a rating then it would be a 7/10

It's awesome watching someone go into this completely blind! I'm an OG fan of the series, and so this was kind of a mixed experience for me. There were things I loved, this I was kind of meh about, and somethings that I just cannot figure out why they thought it was a good idea to do it that way??? Just really confusingly bad choices. But overall I enjoyed it, and I'm really, really hoping you watch the animated one. I freaking love seeing people experience that for the first time.

Them playing the song at the funeral that was one of the last things the voice actor for the uncle recorded in the original before he passed away. ❤ if I remember correctly they dedicated the episode he sang it in in the original to the VA.
